I'm a big fan of Opinels. They're light, simple and sturdy enough for what you should be using knives for (i.e.not stabbing car hoods or chopping wood). The thin blade is great for food prep and the corkscrew is hefty enough that you actually have a shot at not tearing up the cork. I'm taking off a star because it came as sharp as a butterknife. I could drag the edge across my skin and not get cut. 15 minutes of work got me a shaving sharp knife which is nice, but I don't think Opinel should consider shipping a finished product rather than a fixer-upper project.

I'm a knife collector of sorts, not serious, but one day I realized that I had 20 or more knives! I've had some since I was a kid in the 1950's. I now have about 35 knives. But my wife doesn't share my affliction. She does like to go on picnics, however, and I got this for her birthday, we are going to go and have a picnic and I'll give this to her to slice bread and cheese and salami and open a bottle of wine. I think she will like the utility of this Opinel on picnics!Opinels are great!

Pretty much the perfect picnic tool. Rugged, practical, eminently useful. As others have said, it may be larger than you expect, the blade is just shy of 4" long. Which is great for a nice hunk of emmentaler or a honey crisp apple, but it's something you should be aware of when it comes to blade laws in your neck of the woods.Side note in case you don't know about it - there's an extra metal sleeve around the top, just rotate that into place to keep the knife locked open or closed.

Our daughter found her first serious job after grad (MBA) school at a california winery. I thought this knife would be a nice christmas present. We looked for this item for months and I thought I would try amazon. Item canoe up right away at a phenomenal price...we did not anticipate it was so big so it will go to our son-in-law at that time...It is wonderful and if you like a spot of vino this is your baby...thank you opinel!

Bought this as a gift for my wife to be our picnic companion. Sure, sometimes picnics are less wine and cheese and more PB&J but the knife works great to cut up an apple just as easily as slicing Stilton. Less one star for requiring a little oomph to pull out a cork but that's the price you pay for design and not having a pivot.

I like this knife, and the Amazon price seemed lower than the same knife and model in other outdoor catalogs. I was impressed with the fit and finish of this knife. The corkscrew feature adds cost to this knife, but I think it is worth the extra cost over the plain No. 10 Opinel knife.

Both a good locking knife and a good corkscrew, this is one of the few Opinel knives made with an inox (stainless steel) blade. Opinel knives are sold in the gift shop of the Louvre museum in Paris. I've given several of these as gifts to wine connoisseurs.

Just bought one, making it my 2nd Opinel, and I love it. It's a great knife, though a bit bigger than I thought it would be. Very well constructed, good quality knife. I can't wait to pop this bad boy out at my next fancy wine and cheese party!

Very well made--beautiful and functional. It took me a little while to realise that the blade locks with a quarter turn of the bezel. Great ,classic knife. This size is a bit too big to comfortably carry in the pocket.

Basically just got this knife so it will take a little use to fully review it. But at first blush it is solid, sturdy and seems "built to last." Only 4 stars for now...need to see how it pans out with use.

Perfect picnic or camping knife. Sturdy build, large size, and sharp blade make it useful for all kinds of outdoor tasks. The blade takes and holds a great edge. Most importantly, it will open your wine.

basic opinel no. 10 with a corkscrew cut out. stainless steel, blade is the hefty opinel no. 10 making it quite large for a folding blade. corkscrew has a solid snap to place action that pleased me.

Fantastic knife and classic good looks. The knife is vary sharp and great for picnics and pruning my garden. The corkscrew is there to enjoy your wine after working in the garden!

Perfect knife for traveling with the corkscrew built in. Took me a while to loosen the safety...we had to spray it with WD40. Sturdy and comfortable in the hand.

Bigger than I imagined it would be, quite a bit. Very nice. I recommend it as a good picnic knife, a good house warming gift, great for a hike, etc.
