Having bought this as my first bike lock , i have mixed feelings about its performance....although a good bike lock and will do its job at protecting your bike, it still has some flaws.First of all , the design of this bike lock is great. It is a very attractive looking bike lock with some very aesthetically pleasing features such as the bright yellow colour. I feel the yellow colour stands out and will be a good deterrent for potential thieves as its the first thing they will see. It has a common and simple design that a usual shackle lock does, however the design isnt elegant, it gives a very robust impression which is a positive. The design is also ergonomic,somewhat easy to hold because of its smooth curves and edges.The material of the lock is very strong, it will definitely be able to stand various minor weapons from thieves . However having said that, the lock also sometimes feels clumsy, sometimes it feels as if it will just fall apart very easily, but it will still do its job very effectively. It uses a double bolt locking mechanism, the steel material of these bolts are very durable and felt very rigid. Also i will point out, that like most other shackle locks, this isnt light but it is nether very heavy, it will definitely take up some weight in your bag. However the lock also comes with a bracket which you can attach to your bike which was very helpful. The double rubber coating is another great additional feature, my bike suffered no scratches when applying this lock, it was able to protect my bike from being scratched and didnt allow me to be very careful. As for the material of the additional cable that is supplied, the material was also very strong and it was designed very well.The usability of this product is most useful with its combination lock, with unlimited combinations for you to set it really does make the most efficient lock. No longer was i required to have the responsibility of keeping any keys safe. Plus the additional cable means you can add extra security by also securing your wheels .having said that the combination lock feature is very useful, that is also where the flaws come in. I found it very difficult to attach the lock and to also unlock it. It wasnt very smooth and at times it got stuck therefore sometimes time was wasted just from applying and detaching the lock .Overall a good lock and would be useful for those who dont want to carry around keys.

I'm really pleased with the lock its nice heavy and solid.when you open and close the lock it clicks together like a dream no rattling or moving aboutSo convenient having combination instead of keysThe mount is pretty solid, no moving about but I think I can see a crack in ityou should be aware that the wire is thick and from opening it, it springs into a straight form instead of remaining in a coil, so if its in between your legs its going to bother youI don't actually need mine because I lock it in a electric locked bike shed but I have wrapped it up in a coil and taped it up so it will 'remember'that form.something else to note is how big the D lock is It only just fits inside the middle triangle of my bike so check dimensions before you buyit would be 5 star but I'm not sure if the mount will break soonanother thing about the mount is you need to take it off the D lock and put tape around it and then put it back on for a tighter fitIts been a month since I had the lock

One word of warning. This is an excellent lock but remember to maintain it by oiling and greasing it. I went to unlock mine recently and it jammed. I tried everything from WD40 to hammers, screwdrivers the lot. Eventually as a testament to the lock I had to get a locksmith to use a heavy duty angle grinder to cut through it. It was outside a supermarket so if a thief tried this approach the sparks and noise would alert anyone! It was my fault as it was attached to my bike frame so it did not occur to me to think that constant exposure to the elements would be a problem .Another tip WD40 will remove all existing oil and grease so remember to clean it first with WD40 then use the oil and grease.Hopefully this will prevent another lock up as I assume it was not a defect by the makers as I have two and the second one is OK..

Certainly strong and tough for a thief to break or dismantle, but not the easiest to handle and it is noticeably heavy. I clip mine onto my rucksack when commuting to work and I really noticed the extra weight on my back.Unless you have lots of space around your bike when you lock it up, it can be very tricky to move around and fix in place. Locking it up against a wall or in a busy bike park/shed can be fiddly and frustrating. Getting the digits on the dial on exactly the correct alignment to release the metal bar can be really annoying, as other reviewers have mentioned.It sounds like I have more negatives than positives,but I'd rather have something this strong and heavy securing my bike than a cheaper weaker one!

This is a heavy duty (and I mean heavy) bike lock that's easy to programme with your number combination and looks to be stronger than Arnold. The extra heavy duty wire cable is a nice touch too, going through your wheels or locking two bikes together, say.The lock attaches to your bike frame with a neat clip-on gizmo, but this wouldn't attach to one (full suspension) bike that doesn't have any circular tubes in its construction (only ellipses). But the best bit is the way this brightly coloured lock yells at thieves BACK OFF, and says it with visual authority.

I need a strong lock, and this looks like it will deliver. Nice and bright to hopefully help deter thieving scumbags! My only criticism is the way the lock attaches to the frame: The bracket itself is pretty sturdy and just requires placing around the frame and tightening with a screwdriver. The problem is the little plastic bracket that sits at the bottom of one of the metal legs of the "U"....it swivels, and which causes the whole lock to swing out whilst riding ( I mounted it on the seat tube). Maybe if I mount it on the top tube it will not swing out.

I’m really happy with this purchase. I looked at lots of reviews of different lock before deciding on this one and it was a good choice.The only flaws I have found are firstly, the length of the cord is too short. It can be difficult to lock up both wheels as well as the bike.Secondly, the only place that the lock could be fixed to my bike (when not in use) is on the bar between my legs. This is obviously more to do with the size of my (women’s) bike that the lock but the plastic fixing is sharp and scratches my legs if I’m wearing shorts

Overall I'm really happy with this lock and cable set. I feel safe leaving the bike which is the main thing! Comes with a holder that attaches to the bike frame so I can keep it on the bike all the time which is handy- although I find it quite fiddly when I try and take it off so I can lock up the bike. The holder feels like it may break as you have to twist the lock to get it off. The number lock is easy to use, but I find locking the two bars tricky. Overall I'm pleased- I think the issues I have will be ok once I'm used to using it.

A very solid lock, in use on daily cycle for past 6 months and has never cause me one minute of trouble. A potential improvement could be a slidable cover to hide the combination section- I think thieves are more inclined to try their luck with a combo system. I found one guy playing with the combination returning to my bike one day, of course he was only "having a look". The frame attachment devise is not brilliant, and will not fit securely on larger framed bikes. Overall, an excellent lock that will provide peace of mind.

Still getting used to opening and closing the combo lock but it seems well made - the bent foot of the 'U' seems like it will add extra strength to the lock.Only gripe would be the mount provided. As other reviews have said, it's not especially strong and only a few cycles in, it's twisting around and coming a bit loose. I'll tighten it obviously but I know I'll always be nervous about it dropping off as the lock just seems too heavy for the relatively lightweight mount.

Been using the lock for a fortnight now, and I have to say I'm very happy with it. It feels very strong and secure, though of course the flipside of that is that it is not the lightest object in the world to carry. In terms of core functionality, it it well engineered (one does not have to twiddle the combination to get it to stay together during transit, for example) and the combination lock is exactly what I was looking for, since I inevitably lose any key I own.

21.8.2017

Seems to be a solid lock. My previous cycle lock had a key and the lock kept getting jammed so it's nice to have a combo lock. Wouldn't leave my bike anywhere dodgy though as thieves are tooled up to get through these sort of locks. Has a 66% security rating. Will always leave my bike in a well populated area (eg outside an outdoor cafe with people sitting outside) had my previous bike stolen (combo lock with cable) so hopefully this D lock will work better.

22.9.2013

I suppose the only way you can adequately review a bike lock is to wait to see if someone attempts to steal your bike and succeeds or fails. However this lock does give the impression of being well made and very solid. The extra coil is useful for extra security for panniers etc. The lock is substantial and the only position I could fit the holder means that on my 17" frame bike it's not possible to also have a water bottle carrier.

14.1.2019

Even though this lock is a bit heavier it is at least big enough to lock your frame and one wheel to any bike stand; most other locks I had were simply too small for that; the attachment for the bike doesn't really work for me as the lock itself is too big to fit it anywhere around my bike frame (wasn't able to paddle properly with it on the frame of my bike) but I usually carry it in my bag or around my front handle;

12.10.2014

The lock seems to work perfectly. It's a bit heavy in weight but I guess that comes with the sturdiness. The mounting bracket for the bike is excellent, much better than for example on Kryptonite locks. I'm a bit conserned that the locking mechanism might get wet on rainy days and freeze or even brake during winter. But all in all, I'm quite happy with it, since I don't have to worry about losing the key anymore!
