I once heard Oban described as the Scotch that all other Scotchs want to be, but aren't. That pretty much sums it up for me. It's subtle yet flavourful. There are layers to the taste, and all of them are pleasing. I'm not a massive scotch fan, but I will never turn down a glass of Oban. I bought a bottle for my husband and I for our wedding night as his first introduction to Oban. It has become "our" drink and brings us back to a hotel room on the coast of Oregon with a fire burning and the sounds of the ocean lapping at the sands right outside our window. Perfect in every way. Now Oban is the Scotch he suggests to co-workers and clients any time he's trying to impress people. :)

This is smooth tasting, non-peaty whisky that is in my opinion the best to have in the house for yourself and guests. It is a seriously top quality flavour yet it is very accessible for guests who might not drink whisky that frequently and want something that does not taste course, or bitter. I drink it neat, as I don't think it needs water, ice etc, but it would also be perfect for mixing if that is your preference, as it wouldn't colour the taste of the drink too aggressively.

The whisky is fine however I was extremely disappointed that It didn't come in a presentation box just the bottle in a rather bashed about cardboard box. I have been buying this for my father as a Christmas present for the last 15 years and have never received it without a presentation box. Rather poor when you are paying this sort of money. Brought this again this year and it came in the box, looks so much better to give as a present 5 stars and very happy.

I'm not an expert so I don't have much to compare it to.This is a lot lighter than most of the whisky I'm used to drinking. There's a woody kick to it but it's somewhat fruity and crisp too. Very smooth and easy to drink.I get the feeling that if you like Bell's whisky you might enjoy some of the aspects of the flavour of this. Not to say that this is comparable to Bell's which is vile and much less sophisticated.

Hate the smell of most whiskies, but hubby tried this when out, smells more like a good brandy - none of that awful medical/chemical smell some other single malts have. If you are looking for a whisky as a gift for your loved one and you too are offended by some of their aromas this could be worth a try... a not a bad price on Amazon compared with other sellers (especially when on offer)

It's not necessarily love at first sip with Oban. However, the more I developed taste for peat the more I started to appreciate the Oban 14 yo and looking back I feel I always liked the rich oily taste that gradually develops on your palate.I enjoy mine equally with a drop of water or just as it is.

I am not a massive Whisky drinker due to the fact I find most Whiskeys fiery or smoky, this Whiskey is neither of these. It's nice and mellow and I prefer it with one lump of ice. Everyone's taste is different but if you are not keen on fire water or a burning bonfire then give this a try.

My start point into the amazing journey of drams and quality tipples or "serious juice" as I prefer to call it. Could have been the first but very few come close it in my opinion and again, "don't judge a dram by anyone's palate". With each sip and shot, life got/gets better.

Bought the 14yr Oban on a lightening deal, as great value. It has been a good few years since I last had a bottle, but remembered as well ne of my favourites. Distinct, but subtle taste. Oh yes, and mine did come in the presentation tube.I recommend this whisky...

I treated myself to this Oban 14 year old malt whisky, when I was a bit poorly, and I must say it's beautifully smooth, expensive but then anything of quality usually is, I recommend this, and will buy moreWhen I have drunk this bottle, lovely

Next level whiskey for me. This is delicious and smooth with a sweat saltiness and hints of orange. Worth the few extra pounds and would definitely recommend and will be buying again. Added one ice cube and enjoyed double measure. Great stuff.

I love this whisky, for the price I paid which was £38.99 this is an awesome deal. It's a smooth, flavoursome, this is 14 year old whisky and It taste so good and worth every penny. Highly highly recommend this whisky, a must buy

My favorite single malt for a long time, but grossly over-priced in recent years. So these days I only buy it when the price is right. There are plenty of more reasonably priced and very good whiskys out there. Hence the 4 stars.

It's just so easy to drink this. It's smooth, flavourful and has maybe just a hint of smoke.It's also some of my friends' favourite whisky, so I've previously bought a couple of bottles as gifts, which were very well-received.

Oban produces an excellent Whisky. Not for everyone, but I think it is a perfect balance of peat. Not too much, not too little, but just right. A little more expensive than other 14 year olds, but you do get what you pay for!
