I bought a Kinetic for xmas for my other half and was unsure if our living room would have enough space. I did see one of these zoom attachments at the store and thought about getting one but I decided to leave it and see how we got on with the kinect first.Well xmas day came and it was soon apparent that our living room was not big enough. We have a few metres between the sofa and the TV and the kinect could only just about see us, the top of our heads and bottom of our legs were cut off. Playing games was quite hard and the kinect didn't seem to pick up a lot of our movements making it quite frustrating to use.We could have moved the sofa for some extra room but it's one of those huge 5 seated corner sofas so moving it every time you want to play a game would be a pain in the backside!I decided to go ahead and get one of these zoom attachments, but I was a little put off by all the bad reviews. I spent a lot of time researching on the net and it just seemed so negative towards this product. In the end I took the risk and placed the order as it could not be any worse than it is already!Once it arrived I unpacked it from its box and got to work with setting it up. At first I was quite apprehensive as I had previously read that it can be quite fiddly to fit and damage your kinect if your not careful, but I soon found out that really it is very simple and easy as long as you do it properly and use the protective sticker so don't know how people have managed to damage their kinect's with this!I have the kinect set up on top of the TV on one of these TV clips: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004XV6ST4/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details and after turning the xbox on we ran through the kinect calibration again to make sure that we had everything set up correctly. It became apparent right away that the zoom made a huge difference, the kinect could now see a bigger area and was able not only to get us fully in the frame it also showed part of the floor infront of the us, something it was never able to do before and is something you need to play some games. Our movements now seemed to be more precise and games were much easier to play as the kinect now seemed to be working as you would expect it to. I am just disappointed that I didnt buy it sooner for xmas.If you have a small playing space then this is a great product. I honestly dont know why it has got so many bad reviews, its done everything it says on the box so I cant complain at all.

After reading so many conflicting reviews I bought this really unsure what to expect. My living room is quite large but having to move the furniture everytime the family want to play two player games, means that the kinect rarely gets used. A reducer lens in principal seems a great idea. The Zoom arrived about two weeks ago and since then I've had the chance to test it in varrying conditions. On the whole I have to say I'm genuinely very impressed.Installation:Setup was a doddle, just stick the included plastic protection on your kinect and then clip the Zoom over the top. Thats it. All i can assume is that the other folk saying it damaged their kinect were a bit hasty and either slid it on the from the side or didn't spot the protective sticker in the box.Logically it needs to stop any light getting down the side of the lens when its in place so its going to be a tight fit. When in place, initially it does look a little odd but this is more likely because of being used to seeing it without. After a few days you will hardly notice it. The colour match and gloss finish is almost perfect.Usage:We've used the Zoom with all our games and it works fine. It makes a major difference when 2 people are playing and works especially well when one player is a lot taller than the other. Something which was a bit annoying without the zoom if the game adjusted the tilt angle based on one of the other player. Both players can stand around 4 - 6 feet from the wall mounted kinect rather than the original 6-10.In natural day light it works great. In the evenings under artificial light its not as good. My living room has spot lights in the ceiling and the reflections and shadows are magnified by the lense meaning it doesn't track anywhere near as well (your shape gym games seems worst affected). I found dimming my lights down a little helps. I suspect if in had a standard light fitting with a higher ceiling this would be further improved. Conclusion:Excellent product for giving your kinect a new lease of life and it does work exactly as is described. You own room lighting is probably the biggest contributing factor to how well it will work for you. If you tend to play more during day light hours you will probably find this a very useful addition to your setup. If you are a night owl and have very directed lighting its probably not going to work that great.

It quickly became obvious that I was not able to access the full playing potential of the Xbox 360 Kinect for two reasons. My room is, only just, too small and I am 6' 6" tall. The result is that despite being forced back against the sofa front the Kinect bar was unable to fit my full height body into its Tracking Window. Due to this I decided to buy the Nyko Zoom Kinect accessory hoping the device would sort these issues out.The Nyko Zoom was delivered BNIB in less than two days from placing my order on Amazon and was competitively priced including very reasonable P&P. The Zoom was nicely packaged from which it was carefully removed.A guide is included explaining the correct way to attach the Zoom to the Kinect Bar and a recap for ideal conditions using the Kinect Tuner which really does need to be complied with. I took care applying the provided protective sticker to the Kinect Bar and then removed the protective electrostatic film from the Zoom surfaces. Although the Nyko Zoom is not an Official Microsoft Product the Quality of Build and Finish are to a Very High Standard and is a perfect cosmetic match for the Kinect Bar.Attaching the Zoom to the Kinect Bar is a simple operation as per the included instruction. It is important to closely line up the Zoom Lenses with the Kinect bar lenses before clipping in place. You may then need to reposition the Zoom with a very small sideways movement to allow the proper seating of the Zoom Lenses confirmed by a reassuring click.I then went through and successfully completed the Full Kinect Tuning process. To my delight I was able to stand a couple of feet closer to the Kinect Bar, my full body height, was within the Kinect Tracking Window with more room to spare. I have tested each of my Kinect Games with the Zoom fitted. So far I have not experienced any problems with any of the games or Kinect Recognition for the Xbox Live sign-on by using the Nyko Zoom.In conclusion, I have to say that the Nyko Zoom is a Great bit of Kit, with excellent Build Quality and Finish which really does what I had hoped it would.

I was worried about buying this item due to the mixed reviews, however I am glad I did.If you follow all the instructions the Zoom lens works almost perfectly: Your kinect doesn't get scratched and you don't have to move the furniture everytime you want to play the Kinect. However, it's only suggested you put the protection sticker on and only suggested that you re-adjust the kinect calibration. DO BOTH of these things and you won't have any issues. I didn't calibrate and found that I couldnt move through the dashboard menus and almost sent the item back in anger; however, after rereading the instructions it does say that a recalibration may be needed (and thinking about it this is obvious as the way the kinect is seeing has been changed). All in all it does exactly what it says on the tin, after a few adjustments. I would highly reccomend the Nyko Zoom lens for all those with an average size living room.4 Stars, would be 5 if it clearly stated adjustments would be needed and if it could see the floor more easily. Nevertheless, I can stand 3/4 feet from the telly and play a game perfectly (with greater control than before as in some games previously the character jumped around randomly because I ended up edging closer to the sensor for comfort).**EDIT**After using the Zoom Lense while playing Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, it is clear that the Kinect with the lense attached CANNOT see your feet and so must be removed to play this game. However this is the only game I seem to have had any difficulty within; due to how precise the Kinect has to be in order to see you to get the full effect of the exercises. As such if you use your Kinect for exercise alone I would have to sadly say that this is not reccomended. Nevertheless the review above sticks for every other game i have:Star Wars, Sports, Rise of Nightmares, Adventures, Child of Eden

As many Kinect users I have a little trouble due to the space required to use the kinect, usually moving the coffee table is good enough to play any game, but I am getting tired of moving furniture to play games.I learned about the Nyko Zoom after some browsing in Amazon and I got it right away. The setup is very easy but BEWARE, no matter if you plan to keep the Zoom forever attached with the Kinect I recommend to ALWAYS INSTALL THE SCRATCH PROTECTOR supplied, there is a very high chance to accidentally scratch the Kinect during installation and there are a lot of reviews in the complaining about it, because the scratch protector is just "recommended" in the instructions, play safe and install the scratch protector. After you snap the Zoom to the Kinect, installation is easy as that, just turn-on the Xbox360 as usual and calibrate the Kinect right away, then start playing. In my case the Zoom worked just perfect, now I can play a bit closer to the TV and the motion sensing appears to be unaffected at all, I can even say that the motion sensing is a bit improved, just my perception, as the hand pointer feels more stable than before. So far I tested it with Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures and Dance Central and no issues at all, but I think that the initial calibration is critical to get the Zoom working as spected.I am very happy with the Zoom, I recommend it if you want to reduce the regular play area of the Kinect and finally forget about keep moving furniture every time you want to play a Kinect game.

I decided to order this Reduction Lens despite all the negative feedback on the hopes that the few positive feedbacks where true.Luckily they were! I can't see why this gets so many bad reviews! The only thing i can imagine is that people are being ridiculous and expecting this to work miracles and allow you to use the Kinect in rooms no big enough to swing a cat!I needed this because i the distance between the Kinect and our sofa was just a bit too short to be able to us the Kinect comfortably i.e when setting up the i.d recognition we were unable to stand on the back row of squares. This product has solved this issue and works perfectly on all games we have tested so far, like other reviews say this has to be used below the TV i have it around 4ft off the ground. It does seem a bit more sensitive to lighting and the lens does reduce the quality of image the Kinect can capture and makes the sensors view in the box at the bottom right of the screen seem really off as if the Kinect cannot see as far right as it needs to but it doesn't seem to effect any navigation gestures and definitely doesn't effect gameplay what so ever, also sign in recognition works better than ever!I would recommend this if you require slightly more room to play games then this is perfect, if you require a lot more room then you should have read the Kinect requirements before purchase!Great product!

I bought this item because in the room I play Kinect in it is almost impossible to play with two people. One can just about play but it misses off a little of the feet.I had read the numerous amount of mixed reviews for this product and I decided to go ahead and try it, without much hope and figured I would send it back if it didn't meet my requirements.Well I got the item, opened it, fit it which took about 30 seconds, literally just apply the kinect protector and clip this on whilst being careful that the protector doesn't come off. I have no idea how some people have said this has broken there Kinect.. I didn't even need to pick the Kinect up,I fit it whilst it was on the TV unit.Once switched on and loaded up the results were to be seen immediately. Whereas before the persons feet were missed if, it was telling me I needed to move closer! It now fits two people in to the screen and with space to spare. This has made my Kinect 10x more enjoyable and useable. I would simply say, don't expect miracles from this product, if your room is completely altogether to small to play Kinect then this probably won't be enough help. But if like me, you just needed a bit of extra space to get the desired results then this is definitely for you.On a footnote, the Kinect didn't really pick up my friends 4 year old very well before this, but now it seems to work with him perfectly.

I know you are probably thinking what I was thinking. So confused with a lot of negative feedback and some good feedback. But I can tell you this thing works, and it works great! I can see where the complaints come from. I think the instruction could be a bit better. But as soon as you figure out, then this thing works perfectly!Right, the problem is that it is a bit tricky to set up. Even I followed all the instruction, it didn't work the first time and you can't calibrate it with the zoom lens on with the calibration card.I put it on then switched on the Kinect, it is just dark and couldn't see anything and like I said, you couldn't calibrate the kinect neither. So what I did is to take the zoom off, switched on the kinect, stand on the 6ft distance where it can only allow one player which is also my limited distance ( can step back any further). Now make sure my Kinect works as how it is without the Zoom that it can only allow one player at 6ft distance. Once it works ok, switched off the xbox, put the zoom on the kinect and place it back to where it was. Then it works and works brilliantly! I would have given it a 5 stars, but because of this issue, I put it 4 stars. But don't worry, it work! Just make sure that your kinect is place between 2 to 4.5 ft height form the ground, not on top of the TV! Hope it helps ur misery! HA!

Well we bought the Kinect two years ago and it could only have been described as an expensive plastic ornament until I got the Nyko Zoom.We have less than 2 metres between the TV and sofa so always had to move it back to play and even then I found the Kinect would lose track of you when you were playing and generaly to be inaccurate. I was unsure whether to go for this due to some of the bad reviews on here but took the chance as the sensor was never going to be getting used. I found the setup very easy, put the protective sticker on, lined the Zoom up with the sensor and clipped it on. Went through the Kinect tuner again and tried a couple of games and now find the Kinect to be accurate and even find a sharper image onscreen from the camera!I think the problems people have been having is because you should calibrate the sensor through the Kinect Tuner again. Really glad I bought this and wish I had bought it at the time with the Kinect. Forget any doubts your having if you've read bad reviews about this - I can 100% recommend this to work and actually "FIX" what Microsoft should have done when they released it in the first place!

I looked at loads of reviews on different sites for the Nyko Zoom Reduction Lens, and I am glad I chose to ignore and give this a go, it took 5 minutes to install and set up, I ensured I applied the protector cover, lined up sensor lens and green power indicator light with the Zoom Range Reduction Lens and with slight gentle adjustment easily fits into place, you can hear the zoom lens move into place on top of kinect sensor lens, and then its in place. It works in reducing playing sapce down, I was able to play between 3.5 ft and 4 ft away from sesnor/tv screen, and you can use for two players aswell, when setting up it will track and locate you in the "good" playing area, not "best" playing area,as the kinect is reading distance as normal, not zoomed distances, it is more than responsive enough, I'm really pleased with this item and have purchased some more as presents for family who also use kinect, from my personal experience I am glad I ignored all the negative reviews of which there are many, and went ahead and brought this, would recommend to anyone. It works brilliantly !!!

There are mixed reviews for the Nyko Zoom, the negative comments nearly stopped me from ordering but there just wasn't quite enough space to play with Kinect. I was almost 10' from sensor with back against the wall - literally. So I thought it worth the try. When I was installing the lens assembly (which appears to have been improved since the first release) there was a nice positive "click" to tell me I had them aligned correctly and they locked into perfect position.I moved the sensor down from it's original 6' perch (above TV) to about 3' (below TV) per the instructions and powered up - flawless result. From only just fitting in the field of view to having room above my head and around my feet in the Kinect preview window.I ran the tuner and found that my new "default" position was 3' closer to the TV as well - no more back against the wall.So while I can understand there are people with genuine bad experiences with the Zoom I would say if you're pressed for space it is well worth a try, it works well for me!

I bought this product despite the negative reviews on Amazon and I'm very pleased that I did. The first game I tried once I had set up the Zoom was Kinect Ninja and was able to stand much closer than ever before without having to move the furniture and the game responded as well as ever.I think that the main problem that people have had is that they have not followed the instructions properly or have been a little heavy handed with attaching the Zoom to the Kinect, I can see how, that if it is slightly out of position it could cause problems, but if people actually take there time and follow all the instructions clearly it will work perfectly. There is no need for Amazon to refund people as theproduct works perfectly and does exactly what it is supposed to.

i dont understand why this has soo many bad reviews, its must be down to people not connecting this product properly. i found that at first i did have to fiddle about to get my kinect to actually find me but i think this was due to the room lighting. it has made my kinect gameplay alot better and easier as i do not have the game constantly pausing asking to indentify etc etc. i would say that the only down point of my purchase is that the zoom is black and due to the fact i have the star wars edition xbox 360 the kinect is white :) thats how far the negatives have to stoop as it is a fantastic product,i will say to make sure you follow the in box instructions and apply the protective sticker and also to calibrate kinect once the zoom lens has been added

This is quite a neat pice of kit. It clips neatly over the front of your sensor and really does make a difference to your playing space. You have to be careful applying the lens protectors - if they are not on perfectly, the sensor won't find you. I had problems with these covers, so left them off. Proving you're careful clipping on the attachment the sensor lenses will be fine. Again you have to line up the attachment and sensor lenses exactly. You'll see the Kinnect's green LED on the attachment front which makes it pretty straightforward. Then just use XBox settings or a Kinnect game to set the sensor up for its new angles of view and you're away.If you haven't got the 6ft+ clearance aroundyou then this is a must have

We bought a Kinect hoping that our small living area would be sufficient but could not play without moving furniture - very frustrating. After reading the reviews of the Nyko Zoom on this site we were skeptical but had no option other than to try it as otherwise our Kinect was useless. It arrived today and took minutes to set up (no scratching occurred) and now Kinect can be used nomally in half the space. As all of the reviews have said - you do have to follow the instructions to the letter e.g. minimise reflective surfaces, wear lighter clothes etc but it does work and has enabled us to use the Kinect in a living room where there is only about six square feet of playing space. We are happy withthe product.
