Upgraded to a 5star.. sorry video is a little blurredThis is fantastic, the size and bounciness of a tennis ball, I received this last week after looking for a ball that can be used to play with my spaniel in the dark. He is a very active springer and as it is now dark 2 hrs before I finish work he was getting a little bit fed up plodding around the park. His ball is everything! So although at first I thought the cost was a little steep I worked out that the loss of 4 decent balls on ropes within a week would mean the outlay for this to be a wise investment. I purchased the RED one.So it arrived and we waited until it got dark. Then it was time to put it to the test.Quicker to put next bit in bullet points* At first I thought price was a little steep but it is proving its worth.* When you take it out the package dont switch it on in a lit room and think hmmm only half lights up and its a bit dim like I did. When you get out into the night it glows a good'un (as vibrant as a bicycle light).* It fits well into a tennis ball launcher. Good thing as ball is quiet weighty.* It is a thick sturdy construction - although wouldnt suggest for dogs who likes a good old chomp on a ball or strong jawed dogs, (I wouldnt have given this to my last German Shepherd who chomped through Black Kongs for fun) but would suggest most dogs would be fine with this.* Can be seen even in long grass so when my spaniel put it down to have a sniff he easily found it again, and I could still see it.* When I first received it, it was quiet hard to switch it on as you have to squeeze the activation point, however it shows in the instructions how to turn it on using various options like standing on it. Now no problems.* As your dog is retrieving the ball you can see him too so even if he wanders the lightball still lets you know where he is.* Batteries are changeable!! - This has been on and off and on for nearly a month now 2 hrs every day and still no signs of dimming.* After a while it proves a little slimey and slippery for the dog to hold onto but they can put it down and still find it to pick it up....* Makes spaniel tails wag even faster and I didnt think that was possible. He loves to watch it fly through the air then pounce on it, although I am waiting for some weird news articles in my local paper from the bewildered residents that overlook the park, who keep seeing a bright red light dropping out the sky which then appears to bounce and bobble along.*This product seems to be well made and resilient and a long time coming into my household. I can also highly recommend the companies Nite Ize Dawg collar which can be cut to length to fit and is also very bright and well made.Happy days! First time I have ever wished I lived far enough north for winter to be permanent darkness.... I WILL give this product 5 stars once I have seen it durability over a month.****************Still going, although batteries changed which is to be expected really as its constantly in use, glowing brighter than ever! Awesome 5 stars

I had no problems with this supplier and item was dispatched very quickly.I am very impressed with this ball. My Labrador loves tennis balls but she ends up losing many as she can't see them in the dark. This ball is the same size as a tennis ball and is made out of tough rubber so it bounces reasonably well. It is very bright and can be easily spotted a very long way off even in long grass or bushes. I haven't had to replace the batteries yet unlike some of the other reviews.Plus points:1. Very bright ball perfect for night time dog walking/play2. Made out of rubber so is not damaging to dogs teeth3. It is waterproof - I walk the dogs on the beach and I throw the ball in the sea. No damage.4.It floats5. It bounces6. It is entertaining watching your dog carry this back to you in the dark...looks very odd to see a glowing orb coming towards you.7. My dog can see this ball easily if it goes into the bushes8. The light doesn't go out if the dog mouths the ball. Turning the ball on and off requires a very firm press for approx 3 seconds. I would be amazed if a dog could do this.9. The ball is completely smooth with no jutting out bits where the battery compartment is.10. You can throw it a long way and it can be used in one of those tennis ball flinger things, without sustaining damage.Negative Points:1. Pricey for a dog ball - but it is brilliant! My dog loses loads of balls in the dark, not anymore though.Points to note:1. This ball is firm rubber so if you kick it hard with bare feet or very soft shoes you will probably break your toes.2. If you have arthritis or very weak hands you may have trouble turning the ball on and off.3. You will get asked by many other dog walkers where you got it from. Everyone is impressed by it and wants one.I have tried many balls for dog play in the dark and this is by far the best. I bought this blue one and have just ordered a red one.I highly recommend buying one so you can see for yourself.

I bought one of these for my spaniel Louie as I walk him at night after work, He wasn't really into fetching games but I thought I'd give it a try.The first night I tried it he seemed a little unsure of this strange glowing orb, but after 3 or 4 throws he was hooked! Now its easily his favorite toy and he loves to play fetch. The ball itself is heavier than the standard ball, but its the same size as a tennis ball and fits my Dog ball launcher that I bought separately , the outer shell is strong and dog friendly as Louie carries it all the way home every night which he will not do with any other ball. The battery in my first ball lasted for about 2 months of every night play before it started to fade, unfortunately you cannot change the battery but it is still bright enough to use it as a spare, I feel this item would not be so dog friendly and chew proof if it did open up anyway, so I am more than happy to replace his ball every 2-3 months or so.Louie and I love this product and we highly recommend it!

Although the ball would not light up when received, I think the button had been pressed in, I was able to replace the battery. It does take a while with a long, flat, screwdriver to prize the bung/switch out but you just have to be forcefull as there is a circular ring at the base of the bung that needs to be freed.Once out I tested the two batteries supplied in another device and they were dead. I did not have two of the slim batteries so replaced it with one CR2032 as this is the same size as the two previous batteries (less than £1). Although it is less voltage i.e. only one 3V this is plenty to power the LED.Now play at night with my Lab who loves chasing the ball and can not turn it off when she chews it.easy to see on tall grass and seems very durable and hard waring, but yet to get damp or wet. If this happens I might wrap the LED in some clingfilm to make it even more water tight next time I replace the battery.Currently used for 3 weeks and battery still working.

It's always hard to decide on an item that has two reviews at opposite ends of the scale. I took a gamble and wasn't disappointed. My dog's not a hard core chewer and besides I wouldn't leave a dog unattended with anything that contained batteries. You never know what they can accomplish given enough time!If you plan on getting this out just for one on one play at night I don't think you'll be unhappy with the quality at all. I wouldn't submerge it in water but the removable area is very well wedged in there and I would dare to say fairly water resistant. As long as you don't go swimming with it I'm sure it would be fine. The light is bright and alternates between the colours shown rather than being them all at once like the image.A nice touch though perhaps accidental is that it sometimes resets to red with an impact. I think this is when it hits the on/off area. It's fun anyway as it seems to interract with play.A good buy.

This ball works well - it is bright enough to be seen in longish grass, it is rugged, and my dog (border collie) hasn't managed to switch it off with the power of its bite. I can switch it on/off using both thumbs, but my wife struggles. Unfortunately it lets in water (which is all too abundant in the UK), and when water gets in it will switch itself off. This has happened once, but fortunately my dog was right next to it and I managed to find it with my torch. Although it warns you to dry it all out after a wet session, it's a bit of a pain. It is not easy to prise out the battery/light mechanism and replace. I have solved the problem by putting a small elastic band around the switch mechanism to provide a seal,so if you buy one (recommended) I would do this before you start.

For those of you who right now have a dog that loves chasing balls and at night (winter), great fun for all in my view, then this ball is robust enough to last. It has had constant use over the past few weeks and has not dimmed or fallen apart....yet! I have a Springer Spaniel and so far it has lived up to my expectations and he has had a fantastic time playing with it and chasing it - One point to make - I have seen the plastic bung pulled out by a dog, its very difficult to put back; this is where you replace the battery. So, if your dog is a "chewer" don't buy it as with all things plastic eventually those canine teeth will succeed - But hey if you get through 5 a year so what as the funfactor is better than the X-factor!!

Now that the clocks have gone back and the days are much shorter our after work walk happens at night. Our regular walk goes past an unlit park that is perfect for a game of fetch the ball. Jackson got the idea straight away and as soon as I switched the light on he wanted to get it. I have been using it every night for the past few weeks and have had no problem with the battery running out or it switching off when hitting the ground. I was a bit worried he might damage it as he bites through tennis balls in a few seconds. But it has survived without a scratch despite him giving it a bit of a chew in between throws.A top tip is to carry something to wipe the ball with afterward because it gets covered in slobber!

I think this is a great product. As soon as I received it in the afternoon I turned it on and could easily see it glowing in broad daylight. It's quite tough to switch on (you press and hold the ball) which means dogs can't knock it off when playing.I took it home and later that night took our dog out to give it a go. It had a great glow and was really easy to see, unfortunately for us however, our dog doesn't like tough plastic balls so he didn't take to it (mission failed!) He really likes to tear things apart and his incessant chewing to begin with did nothing to the ball.Although Mylo didn't enjoy it, I still think it's a great product should your dog go for it.I would highly recommend.

My Springer loves a game of ball, only trouble was with the dark evenings he was finding it more difficult to find his ball so we were pretty much throwing it for ourselves. Then we bought this light up ball and now we can play at dusk, in the fog and the snow without him losing it! Loads of comments from other dog walkers, and as a vet nurse I have recommended it to lots of clients. It's a tough cookie, he hasn't destroyed it and the light doesn't go off when it bounces or when he has it in his mouth. Like I say, all the other doggies are green with envy when we can keep playing and they have to leave the field!

We loved this and so did our Springer who spends an hour every week day night chasing it in the park. The different colours were very effective and made it seem like disco ball chasing. It also gave Darcy's friends a guiding light to her so we could meet up for a run around together. It did last for. Month so that was approx 35 hours but I have found it hard to find replacement batteries as it is two very slim round cell ones but if you put in one that we tried it is not a snug fit but two won't fit. If the supplier also sold the replacements I would have given this 5 stars but it was great whilst it lasted!

Had this for about a month now, and I have to say, I've been pretty impressed. Dog hasn't managed to make a mark, It's been in the river (it floats), and it still works. The light is nice and bright, and clearly visible at night (the point of purchase in the first place!). The only downside I've found is that it's pretty difficult to turn on and off. I'm a big guy, and I need both thumbs to push the button. However, it can also be turned on by pushing the button against a hard surface, and this is perhaps a small price to pay for robust construction.

Arrived quickly. My spaniel loves it. Batteries ran out very quickly so I've ordered 20 new batteries for £2.70 and that will hopefully keep him amused for the dark winter months. Its bouncier than the Smarti ball I bought him last year which was so solid I was worried it would brain him if it landed on his head. The bung is a bit awkward to get out but I'm happier that its water resistant if not waterproof having seen how deep inside the light mechanism is. I'd recommend it assuming the next set of batteries last more than a week or so.

I needed a ball that would be easy to find in the dark, after my Collie keeps losing so many normal ones this winter. This ball, even though expensive is brilliant. The light is very bright and my dog is easy to find when she is carrying it. The ball is not showing any bite marks yet and the battery casing is still watertight after its constant dunking in puddles. Maybe when I have to change the batteries it may not be so watertight.Turning on and off is not easy by my weak hands, I just stand on it and that works fine.
