Bought it to do some birdwaching. I was very impressed when i got it, first because of its size. It's a very small and light fieldscope which is quite good for walking around. The zoom is great as well for what i want to use it and the image quality is simply amazing! Very clear, sharp image and the colours come out precise as well. I didn't have a tripod for it and couldn't find one on Amazon, however a normal canon or nikon camera tripods fit the fieldscope.Overall incredibly happy with the purchase and advise birdwatchers to buy it if you don't have to have the latest model and don't want to spend a lot of money in one, without having to compromise quality!

Why buy Swarovski or the like when you can have one of these little demons. I have previously owned an ATS 80HD but was too scared to take it out in case I dropped it and buggered it up. Also, I wanted something a bit smaller. This little scope is superb, and well out performs a lot if not most of the larger ones I have had in the past. Superb Birding Scope, and great for travel. Why shell out nearly £2000.00 on a Swarovski when you buy one of these for quarter of the cost, with nearly the same performance. And if I drop it, I can afford to buy another one!! Thoroughly recommend it.

This a tiny, light scope that initially looks and feels like a toy. However functionally it is almost or as good as the more 'serious' birding scopes. With a x27 WA lens the images are superb. Very portable ( perfect for flying with - as compact as a pair of bins ). The only negative that I can think of is that the protective case ( which comes with the scope ) is rather flimsy and has to be taken off to use the scope!

This is the must-have scope for all birders who travel. Small enough and light enough to easily fit in hand luggage and teams up well with a compact 'travel tripod'. Very sharp and good light gathering power for a 50mm. Of course it won't do the job of an 82mm scope but that's not the point. Combined with the 27x WA eyepiece this is a brilliant solution for travelling birders. Travellingbirder!!!

I used to own an ATS80HD by Swarovski, but found it too bulky for all day mobile birding, also I was frightened that I was going to drop it and bugger up nearly 2k pounds worth of optics. So I sold it, and after lots of humming and haring brought one of these. Why did I not buy one in the first place? Why spend 1000's when you can get quality and equipment like this. Bye Bye Swarovski!!

I bought this to replace my (lost) Mighty Midget, expecting it to be a good bit better, but can't say I find it so. I reckon, for me anyway, the new MM3 will be as compact if a bit heavier, and just as good optically with the HD/HDF lenses, for a good bit less money.

With the wide DS eyepiece it still weighs just 750g and small enough to fit in a pocket in the rucksack, ideal for foreign travel. Good optics and the magnification and field of view are excellent - higher magnification is often of little use due to heat haze etc

If you are looking for a lightweight fieldscope I promise you will not be disappointed with the ED50. I fitted the 13 to 40x zoom on mine and the image quality is outstanding for such a small scope. I reckon I will use it for 90% of my birding.
