Nikon have been making 50mm lenses for decades and know what they're doing. This is not a new design - it has been around for years - but it remains pin-sharp and with low distortion. But the main feature is its wide f/1.4 aperture. Used with a full-frame camera it gives razor-thin depth of focus and great bokeh; with crop-frame (DX) it can also isolate the subject better than virtually any other lens. The other side of the coin is the light-gathering ability. Nikkor lenses are basically awesome, everyone knows this, but this particular Len is a great solution to the "what prime should I have on my camera, most of the time?".Pin-sharp, excellently fast lens if you want to play with DoF / Bokeh - there is nothing bad to say.
