these shoes are awesome.I have worn the different generations of Nike Monarchs for years.. but they always squeaked, made farting sounds.. etc..they were basically embarrassing to wear in public............which really sucks as they are the most comfortable, long lasting shoes ever! (I have tried other shoes/brands and always go back)after years of throwing out good shoes I started returning them to NIKE under the warranty process. (FYI: they warranty any shoe for 2 YEARS from the date on the label in the shoe... AWESOME!!)this was OK but it still took time.months sometimes.. especially when they had inventory issues...then I figured out the magic FIX!!!!!i always thought the trouble was with the NIKE AIR pocket..this is NOT the problem at allwhat it is is actually an AIR POCKET that gets created BETWEEN the INSOLE and the shoe itself! ..i don't know why this affects only this specific model of NIKE shoe.. every single generation of it.. and it has never been fixed... but I have my own fix now.very simply this is the problem....the insole is glued down to the shoe.. the glue wears out (likely with walking, sweating, etc) and air manages to sneak in wherever there is no glue contact anymore.. then with walking the air is pushed in/out all around.. making the sounds like whoopee cushionNOW THE FIX!pull out the existing insole..this is easier than it sounds.. remember it is glued.. so wherever the glue is holding you will need to PULLLLL!!once you remove the insole it will all make sense and you will see exactly which parts were no longer glued together just by looking at the bottom of the insole.so.. two options.. glue the parts that are missing glue.. (I HAVE NEVER TRIED THIS)or stop the parts with glue from sticking (VERY EASY)simplest way.. BABY POWDER..dump some baby powder in the shoe and replace the insole.. if it still makes noise, take it out and add some more powder cause the glue is still holding somewhereTHATS IT!!dozens of my shoes wasted that could have been fixed and worn for much much longer with PRIDE :)GOOD LUCK!!!(one more thing..I have thought of using BAKING SODA instead of baby powder but have not had a chance to try it.it may work like magic to remove any foot odor same as it works in fridges.. just a thought)

I have been buying NIKE Cross Training shoes for as long as I can remember and primarily wear them for everyday use. I generally purchase 1 pair every year. For about the past 7 years, I have been buying Air Monarch's. They are reasonably priced and very comfortable. They fit me like a glove. Unfortunately, for about the past 3 years, my Air Monarch's develop a very loud and annoying squeak after 2 or 3 months. People can hear me coming from 20 feet away. Last year I tried switching brands. I honestly prefer NIKE's but cannot tolerate that squeak. Internet searches, blogs and videos reveal that this squeak is a common problem. I tried a suggested internet fix on a pair of my old Air Monarch's.The fix entails lifting the insole and making an incision in the canvas at the ball of foot area, and/or adding powder, then replacing the insole. I believe this fix releases an air pocket that causes the squeak. It did work. My Air Monarch's are completely squeak free. I would like to believe that NIKE has the knowledge and craftsmanship to permanently resolve this issue for the consumer. NIKE, please make be a believer. I really do love my Air Monarch's, minus the squeak. Thanks.

The date was November 10th, 2005, Will Smith was still making good movies, Lance Armstrong was an American hero, and everyone disliked Alex Rodriquez. I was turning 18 years old with my whole life ahead of me when my sister handed me a glowing package that though tightly wrapped, looked as if it was barely holding back a piece of the sun. When I opened the box, I heard an angelic chorus sing, smelled the desert after a fresh rainfall, and saw two dozen white doves whisk into the sky. At that moment my life changed. When the dust settled and I regained my sight, I was somehow celebrating my 54th birthday in mid-July, while standing at a grill and wearing cargo shorts. My apron said world’s best burgers and my kids were running around the yard playing tag. Not only are these shoes comfortable and stylish, but they also scored me a wife way out of my league and set me up perfectly for a middle-class lifestyle everyone would be proud to have. 5-stars

I like the full length air sole. I have not been able to find another shoe with it. I like the extra wide. I like that the Monarch comes in more than one color now. I weigh over 300lbs so these shoes take a beating. I am on my feet all day, working long shifts (over 10 hours). I have been wearing the Monarch for many years. I did get bored of wearing the same shoe for so long, that I did attempt to find another shoe that I could wear. After shoe salesmen sold me their best shoes...I ended up throwing them out and buying another pair of Monarchs (over and over). I have not noticed much difference between the Monarch III and IV. The only thing I would change would be the "pivot circle" on the bottom - the squeeking has always been bad...but with the III,the squeeking started when the sole started to wear away. Now with the IV, it has started right away. I have even tried to shave the circle off...it helped a little, but still squeeks.

I have alot to say, but i am short on time. I love the shoe. This is my fourth or fifth pair of Air Monarchs. I wear them for walking/running. My current pair is the black ones, but I did not like them from the start. I normally buy the white, red, and black ones. I just bought a new pair today. I run on the outside of my feet. I think it is over-pronate or supinate.... Whatever the term, but the outside of my feet especially my left foot really hurts. I did not have that issue with the white, red, and black ones; so I bought another pair today. I have also bought these shoes for family and friends who have started fitness routines to help support them in their fitness goals. Awesome shoe!!!!I do admit that the Air Zoom Structure 17s look interesting. I might try them on my next purchase. Hopefully, the price will drop for us poor people. lol... Until then, these shoes are excellent! Good luck....

#3 was the charm for me. I had tried two different brands before I finally found these Nike that fit me to a T. I have had issues with shoes for the last few years and it's getting on my nerves. It shouldn't be this hard to find something I like, but it has become that. I get mens' shoes because I have wide and flat feet. Most womens' shoes are very uncomfortable, they feel like a vice on my feet. And I'm not going to put up with that. I don't know what's wrong with designers & clothiers these days, but they are sure making crap. Those of us who can't afford a new wardrobe every season need to revolt. Clothing should fit the person, not the person fit the clothes. I'm not ashamed of my size. And I don't know why EVERYONE is trying to make me feel bad. I will go to Nike from now on.

Just received these yesterday. Very happy with them. I'm usually either a UK12 or UK13 size wise due to wide feet. I went for the 12 and it's a great fit, especially on the width. Hope that helps anyone trying to work out the fit. They are also very comfortable straight off. I usually need a gel type insert to help cushion my steps due to my weight. But these are very nice initially. Cushioned and supportive. As long as the seams hold out for a good while, I'm very happy with them. Lastly, well done to the seller (who I believe is in Poland) for shipping to the UK for a reasonable postage cost. Another supplier on Amazon, based in the UK, wanted £15.99 p&p..!!! Glad I looked around. They will get my business again ?

These are the only Nike I have found wide enough for my foot. Even at 4E I still blow the sides out of most shoes. I have worn out about 8 pairs of these shoes and they are my favorite. I wear them all the time and go thru @ 2 pairs a year. The squeak started about 4 pairs ago and was so bad I almost stopped wearing them. Get the inside wet a few times and they start to squeak. To stop the squeak, gently remove the insole Apply enough foot powder to completely cover the inside of the sole and replace the insole. Go for a walk, jump around a bit to work the powder into the sole and the squeak is gone. Has worked every time.Wish Nike would make more shoes for people with wide feet.

Comfort, looks great, durable and a great value for the price. I have Morton’s Neuroma and the Air Monarch IV is the only shoe I can ware without an insert. I try to walk 10 Miles a day and have little to no discomfort at night. I use the extra-wide for traveling. When I’m sitting for a long period of time in a plane or a car my feet naturally swell and the extra wide make walking comfortable. I purchase two to three pairs a year to make sure I have a comfortable pair available. I’m on my 6th pair. I've tried others shoes at first but keep coming back to the Air Monarch. Now it is the only shoe I will buy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My Dad is unlucky enough to have a birthday on December 26th (terrible right) With that being said we have never really celebrated it, but this year I decided to get him a new pair of walking shoes. He usually walks 2 miles daily and his current shoes were more running shoe and not great for rainy days so I saw these and thought they might work so I took a gamble and ordered and he loved them, my Dad also shared he remembered as a child never getting a birthday present so I felt even better about the purchase! Thanks Nike for making my Dad's 75th birthday extra special !!

I have had a pair of these air monarch shoes since 2009 and they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever had! one thing that makes them better is the phylon core in the midsole.I just ordered 4 more pairs in 2 differant styles.I hope nike never stops making these shoes because ever since I broke my foot a year ago I cant wear any of my other shoes because of the pain. Also they have been a very durable and long lasting shoe for me.I read some reviews that said these shoes squeek when walking in them,I have not noticed that at all. WAY TO GO NIKE KEEP MAKING EM

I wear a 7 wide so shoes that fit are hard for me to find. I'm on my feet all the time as a college student and a custodian. These shoes are super comfortable and have helped solve some of the foot problems I was having. So far they've lasted 7 months of everyday wear and they're still working. I haven't had any problems with them squeeking. I'm definetly going to buy these again when my current pair wear out. I just wish there were more color options in the wide (maybe there is but they're just not available right now?). I would love to have a pair of these in black.

I have two pairs of these - one in black and one in white and black with red logo. While neither of these pairs are as comfortable as my old Air Monarch Iiis (the gold standard in comfort), these are plenty comfortable. Similar to the IIIs, these shoes are incredibly durable and look sharp even after extended wear. I like how well the white and black pair go with, well, white or black athletic socks. For an all-around any activity type of gym shoe at a reasonable price, its hard to beat these. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
