I lucked into a pair of V9's for about $50.00 & being a sucker for good shoe deals I bought a pair. I have been wearing the V10's for the past couple of months & I wasn't expecting these to really compare with the new version of the shoe. Well, I wasn't wrong..The V9's didn't compare to the V10's, They blew them away! I am stunned about the build quality of these shoes, Every aspect of the V9 is BETTER than the V10. They feel much better on foot, they are more comfortable, the Fresh Foam is more responsive, The Tongue is nice & soft, The Heel is very comfortable, & the Blown Rubber soles are much better than the V10 version. The V10 feels like a stripped down version of the 1080 which was a bad move in my opinion.Sure the V10 is a lighter shoe, but the V9's aren't heavy to begin with. The V9's also look better, I don't really care for design of the V10 after I had them for a while, SO, I will be donating my V10's to the local homeless shelter as they are still in really great condition, hopefully someone will be happy with them. The only bad news is that I bought the last available pair for the hugely discounted price. I would buy another pair for the same price if I could, So hopefully You will find your size for a discounted price as well..these are superb shoes..I wasn't expecting the quality to be so vastly superior to their replacement! One last thing..Don't even bother with the negative reviews, These shoes are incredible, New Balance hit it out of the park with these beauties!

I had the v7 for about a year before switching to the v8 for another year, and now the v9. I think the v9 is the best yet. Lightweight, yes, but whoa ... not cheap and “paper thin” as one critic said. Enough there to serve as a typical serious running shoe for 4 months or so and/or a long-lasting walkabout shoe - if you need mountain boots, move along. Nothing to see here.To me, the v7 was relatively ‘beefy’ - a great walking shoe but a bit heavy for constant serious running. The v8 was a redesign that went much lighter - but maybe some things weren’t thought through as much as they could have been for longevity (entire sole design not as durable or stable, laces kinda cheap(ish),top eyelets not hard-reinforced, overall ‘soft’ foot cradling). This current v9 seems to have brought the adults back into the room for a world-class improvement. The laces are awesome - premium quality and grippy - the top stress eyelets are (yay!) reinforced, and the entire foot cradle/cushion seems to be one unit with the bottom tread securely attached. The entire heel cradle area is simple yet soft, supportive, and sturdy.I think it will be hard to improve on the design of the v9 save maybe a few millimeters more cushioning, but what’s there now is great. Highly recommended!

I love these New Balance Men's Fresh Foam 1080 V9 Running Shoes. I have purchased at least two pair of these from AMazon as well as a pair from my local running store. They are comfortable and offer amazing support. I am a big guy (6'3" 230lbs) and I often get hurt knees and ankles when running longer distance, let's say over 5 miles. These shoes never give me knee pain. There is a tremendous amount of cushioning.I used to own the New Balance Men's Fresh Foam 1080 V8 Running Shoe and these are a nice upgrade to them. I also tried the version 10 but did not like the style. The fit and comfort of the V10 were really good, but I think they were much less stylish and a little uglier than the New Balance Men's Fresh Foam 1080 V9.I have one pair that I use for running on the beach, or on the trail, which allows me to get them a little dirtier and they degrade a bit faster. The other pair I take good care of so I can run on the pavement. The ombre color is extremely stylish and I get a ton of complements on these shoes. So, overall I would recommend them for anyone who either runs alot, works out alot, like comfortable shoes, or has knee or joint pain. THese shoes are 100% a five star product. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

I really was not to sure how it would work out with these shoes, but I had a hunch they might work out ok. I was pleased to see Amazon stocked my size with the wide fit. I typically always get a wide shoe for my feet. I often run in Altras. As to what sort of runner I am, I would say high mileage of up to and over 50 miles a week.My first impressions were if concern. The heel feels like it's going to irritate and possibly blister, but when running it proves to be no issue. The upper is a nice kind of knit material common of many shoes nowadays. The cushioning feels great out of the box.The 1080v9's are very much long run , recovery comfort shoes. You could use them for speed work, but there are better shoes out there.I am writing this after a 22 Mike run this morning and I am very happy with the shoes. For the whole run my feet felt great. There were no hotspots or areas of discomfort. In fact at the end of the run, my legs were a little battered, but my feet felt fine. I am now considering a 2nd pair as spares.I will update this review when I hit a 150 miles plus, where I can gain a good insight into their durability.

Plain and simply said this is a superb shoe for either running or walking. It’s lighter than I expected given it’s a modest control shoe based on a semi-curved last. Thus it’s not aimed at very heavy runners with flat feet but rather it’s a compromise between highly supportive shoes and those having a fully curved last which work well for lighter runners hoping for a natural feeling shoe. In other words, this is apparently aimed at the middle of the median physiology of runners – not heavy nor feather light and having a neutral arch which is neither flat nor high.Like all New Balance shoes of late, these are almost supernaturally comfortable. I tried these on upon receipt walking around the house with them.I am 100% truthful when I tell you these are significantly more comfortable than my bedroom slippers. There is modest arch support which is unfortunately mandatory with shoes like this even having modest foot control. In sum, these are premier running or walking shoes and every aspect of them is first rate. I’ve never worn better.

I tried my normal 8.5 but they were too small so I ordered a 9, the left was perfect but the right was a little tight so I sent them back, I changed my mind and had amazon return them to me, so glad I did.I have bi-lateral plantar fasciitis and heel spurs, for years I've worn trainers with orthotic insoles, not really comfortable, but the only way I could walk. After 15 years or so, this combination seemed to not work anymore, giving me more pain than it solved. Looking for solutions, I came across cushioned running shoes and specifically these 1080v9s.I cannot believe how pain free my feet are when walking, I still can't stand still for more than a few minutes, but walking is fabulous.I actually got quite emotional about being out and about without pain, wearing great looking shoes with no silly insoles. It's a game changer, I feel like dancing, in fact I often do if I think I won't be seen. I feel a little bit normal again. Thank you New Balance, I love these trainers!!!

I am a female runner with a wide forefoot and skinny heel. The Men's version of this shoe is an excellent alternative to a women's "wide" width which is rarely available and, when it is, it's usually only available in the ugliest color made for that model. I apprehensively ordered this shoe many months ago to give it a try. The heel area doesn't appear to have much cushioning around the top of the shoe. Typically, that would mean it may rub awkwardly (hence my apprehension to give it a try), but it did NOT! This shoe is the second pair I've ordered. I am keeping my fingers crossed that New Balance doesn't decide to "improve" the design and screw it up! :-)

These are so different than my last pair of Asics I wasn't sure what I had just purchased. All of my reactions are in comparison to my last pair of running shoes. The heel drop is noticeable, and it seems to help a lot with my stride. The cushioning is fantastic, it took some getting used to, but after the first run I was thrilled with it. This might be the best pair of running shoes I've ever had. It truly feels like a leap forward in technology. It takes less effort to run and the wear and tear to my body is noticeably different from all that cushioning. I've never embraced a soft running shoe before, now I wish I had found these sooner.

I think the highest recommendation I can make of these shoes is to say out of all of my casual and athletic footwear (and I have a pile) they have become my first choice whenever appropriate and not merely because they are new and nice looking. No matter how long worn, they remain comfortable and I have yet to experience any sense of foot fatigue. The shoes are exquisitely cushioned as a result of the foam insoles, somewhat wider and non-restrictive across the vamp, have a flared outsole that tends to combat pronation and the toe cap is non-binding. These are great shoes regardless of one's frequency of activity.

Good for everyday medium to low intensity runs. Just the right balance between enough and too much cushioning. I wanted max cushioning but something a little faster than shoes with a 4mm differential. These shoes have an 8mm differential so I feel like I’m getting a better push off. Also, since v10 came out, I got a good deal on v9 1/3 off original price. I bought the blue/black ones and after putting 150 miles on that pair, I figured they felt good enough to buy a second pair while the price was right. I usually run 300 miles in shoes, then wash and either donate them or keep the ones I like for kicking around.

To begin, I normally wear a mens size 10D. Lately, it seems as if running shoes and tennis shoes have either gotten smaller or my feet have grown. I ordered these shoes in 10.5D and it's a perfect fit. These are amazingly comfortable shoes. I'm not a runner, but I do a lot of walking and they're like walking on a cloud. I'm sure they are wonderful for running as well.Great looking shoes that are so very comfortable. They also look to be well-made. I definitely recommend these shoes and feel that they are deserving of a 5-star rating.

I am a frequent runner and have been through many pair of running shoes from various companies over the years and New Balance has consistently been one of my favorites and this latest pair is no exception. Very well made with high quality material. Also very comfortable with a nice amount of cushion. And the arch feels just right for my foot. My feet feels well protected during a run. Additionally this makes for a great pair walk-around shoes and looks really nice too. Great quality and great support for both running and walking.

New Balance is a time honored brand with good reason - quality and also a range of sizes. These fit a narrower foot comfortably. The material is not the most breathable, but fine for three season wear. The padding is generous, so if you prefer a minimalist shoe this might not be for you. However, it's comfortable for not only running, but bicycling, walking, pickleball, etc. They look nice - interesting but not attention grabbing. Quality is very good - a definite step up from the cheaper Chinese made sport shoes.

Have been running in a New Balance 880 for years, but had a problem finding an 880 that I liked. Decided to try the 1080 since I found a good deal on Amazon. Started a run right out of the box. Fit was great, plenty of room in the toe box and plenty of cushioning. Did five miles with absolutely no discomfort or hot spots. Have now logged about 25 miles and they more more comfortable as time goes on. Definitely happy with this shoe.

These extra wide NB shoes are wider than other NB shoes I have. I actually think the XW Kaymin's I have aren't true XW's, while the 1080's are. This shoe is very comfortable. Since the soles flair out from the side, they have the appearance of being much wider and it might turn some people off. These shoes saved me when having some foot issues. Nice soft sole! I took one star off for the price, should be more around the $100 mark.
