To get the full benefit of this, Netgear's A6210 Wi-Fi adapter, you'll need a PC with a USB 3.0 port, as USB 2.0 ports aren't fast enough to carry the data at full wireless `ac' speeds. You can still use this adapter in a USB 2.0 port, you'll just be limited to a transfer speed of 480 Mbps, at best; compare that to the fastest theoretical transfer speed for wireless `ac' of 1300 Mbps and you'll see the difference. However, it would still be faster than wireless `n', which transfers at a top speed of 300 Mbps, and far faster than wireless `g', which maxes out at 54 Mbps, so it might still be worth it, as long as you have a router capable of supporting it.On that subject, I'd also mention that, although wireless `ac' can transfer data at 1300 Mbps, USB `ac' adaptor technology seems currently to limit their speeds to 867 Mbps, so even using this adapter with a full-fat `ac' router will only get you speeds of 867 Mbps, regardless of what the router is capable of.The A6210 is a fairly chunky slab of black plastic with only a light-up WPS button on the side to give any indication that it's on and working. Unlike last year's A6200 - which hinged near to the USB port, allowing the adapter to stick upwards rather than outwards - the A6210 is hinge-less, so it sticks out of my Dell laptop like a bit of a carbuncle. There's a very real danger that it'll get knocked out (or, worse, broken off) if I'm not careful with it.There's not a lot in the box with the A6210, aside from an installation CD, a few paper manuals and a blocky desk dock with a 2.5' USB 3.0 cable. The A6210 has a built-in antenna, but, nicely, this has been incorporated into the body of the adapter on a hinge - to extend it, all you do is to bend the antenna upwards. This means that you can have it extended or retracted as you please, going from one to the other with the absolute minimum of fuss. I had wondered how much difference the antenna would make in daily use, but extending seems to produce a more stable signal, if not a faster one.Setting up the A6210 with my PC proved straightforward enough and Windows 10 began using the adapter within a few moments of me plugging it in, once I'd trawled through the control panel options to disable the internal Wi-Fi card. The included Genie software gives you some limited control of the adapter's functionality, but it absolutely nothing that you can't do through Windows, so my advice would be not to bother installing it.Once set up, connected to the faster 5 GHz band from a single room away and using the `LAN Speed Test' network speed test program, I achieved download speeds of about 175 Mbps and upload speeds of around 120 Mbps. From within the same room, the speeds only went to 190 and 150 Mbps, respectively. In each case the test was made using a transfer of a 50 MB file, so larger files would almost certainly do better whilst smaller ones would be the opposite. A connection to the 2.4 GHz band from two rooms away produced average download speeds of 130 Mbps and upload speeds of about 75 Mbps. From a single room away, these speeds increased to 160 and 95 Mbps.Using the adapter with its included dock, positioned above and away from my PC, proved better, with a more stable signal and slightly higher achieved speeds, although still nowhere near the quoted maximums. From my results, I'd surmise that the 300 / 867 Mbps (2.4 / 5 GHz bands) maximum transfer speeds are the best one could possibly achieve under the very best test situations, and the average user in average circumstances won't get anything like that.I own various other wireless adapters, ranging from simple plastic slab ones to one with an antenna and another that looks like a mini pyramid. They may appear quite different, but in my tests it's been surprising to see just how similarly they perform and how little affect their shape has on the quality and speed of the Wi-Fi signal they capture. In the case of the A6210, it's proved to be a solid and (so far) reliable adapter, just not an overly fast one; just bear in mind that it's my only `ac' adapter, so I can't say if better speeds would be achieved using other adapters, or if the ones I saw are about normal.

The first thing that struck me when I looked at the packing list that comes with this product was that it is all there. This USB network adapter comes complete with 1m extension cable, a mounting caddy and even a square of hook and eye fastener with which to secure the mounting caddy to a suitable surface as well as the usual PC installation CD.A small but important point for me is that this device has its MAC number clearly displayed on one side. This is a vital piece of information if you use an access list with your router. (This is a security setting that allows only the listed devices to connect to the router). If you use this setting then before doing anything else you will need to add the MAC number of your new Netgear adapter to your 'allowed'list. The rest of the set up with my Panasonic TV was trivial. The only issue that I encountered was that the blue light on this adapter is small and I found it not all that easy to see. However, it still only took me a couple of minutes to get the connection with my router up and running. It then took another couple of minutes to finish setting up the TV, which had detected the device the moment that I plugged it in.I am really very impressed by this network adapter. Setting it up and getting it working was far easier than I had expected. And I had everything that I might need to hand because it is all there in the one box.Post Script:I had an issue with the Wi-Fi link to my Panasonic television when everything froze. This appears to be a problem with the firmware in the TV. The fix is simple:1. Connect to your router automatically;2. Enter the edit connection settings and turn DHCP off;3. Set the last number in the IP address for yout TV to a high number such as 200;4. Set the DNS address to that of a free DNS server eg Google on 8.8.8.8);5. Press the 'Return' button on your remote to save your new settings.Do not change the gateway address. This is the address where your TV needs to go to connect to the Internet. These settings minimise the work that the TV has to do to connect to the Internet. Test them by viewing a reliable site such as the BBC iPlayer. If they don't work you can always revert to the automatic settings.

My lady friend bought one of these, considering Netgear to be a very reputable brand. But using the Netgear installation software nearly drove us nuts! The adapter could see the router, but trying to get the right password / passphrase or whatever to be recognised proved impossible on a Windows 7 PC.So we uninstalled everything, then just installed the 'Windows Standalone Driver', followed by plugging in the adapter when prompted. When the music stopped, I opened the usual wireless networks list, clicked 'connect' on her router's identification, entered its WPA2-PSK security code and all was fine - connection was instantaneous.UPDATE!I recently bought another of these devices as the performance of my HP TouchSmart 10-e011sa on its own internal 2.4GHz-only WLAN card was very poor, particularly when the charger was plugged in. After a bit of a faff downloading the drivers from the Netgear support site (which is necessary if you don't have a CD drive), connection to my Virgin router was instantaneous once I'd entered the password. On 5 GHz, the downstream speed has increased from about 6 Mbps....to more than 50 Mbps, with the promise of higher speeds later in the year! But do RTFM and make sure you download the drivers either from the CD or from the Netgear site before you attempt to use the adapter - it isn't plug 'n play out of the box. So 4, not 5 stars. If your router has 'Push 'N' Connect' capability, I'm sure things would be fine. But if not, the 'Windows Standalone Driver' seems much easier to use than the 'Netgear Smart Wizard'.Now that we've got it all sorted, range and speed of the device appear very good indeed. But 3 days of long distance phone calls and frustration with the Netgear software drag this review down to 3 stars only.

I recently bought this TV from John Lewis for 699 with the two 'free' glasses. It's been a decent deal since just after Xmas (2011). I believe Richer Sounds had a similar deal. My assumption is there's a few of these teles about right now.Amazon also do a good price on it!!!I researched this USB wifi adapter because the Panasonic one cost a few quid...I bought this one for £16.99.Even on the adapter box it boasts compatibility with Panasonic TVs (and others) with a web address[...]that lists compatible TVs. Annoyingly the TX-P50ST30B wasn't on there but let me assure you...it worked immediately.I plugged it into USB 1 (not the HDD one) and it instantly detected it, went through the set-up and bingo...on-line TV.It streamed BBC HD, but my tele and router are about 8 feet from each other so take that into consideration.I have a BT Home Hub 2.0 (curved one with a USB port on the back, that can be used to plug in a USB printer by the way for a wireless print server...very handy, do a search on it).I've read some routers don't work with it, but as far as the TV and USB dongle are concerned...it works.I've not tried a media server, so I'm not sure about that...but basic functions work.Your other option is those home networks that use the mains plugs to transfer data btw.The box details are;N600 Wireless Dual Band USB AdapterWNDA3100Bar code labelWNDA3100-100GESHope this helps someone

Let me first start by saying that originally I used a Netgear WG111 Adapter which worked exceptionally well, but didn't have very good speeds, nor 5GHz compatibility. So I moved to this device in the hope that it would be just as good, as the routers supplied with our Virgin Media broadband have always been Netgear.Worked very well to start with, strong signal and maxing out at a speed of 160Mbps download and 12Mbps upload. However, after a few months it started to give me ping lag which is very annoying for gaming as it would fluctuate from a steady <15ms ping to around 300ms or higher then go back to normal, but the fluctuations would be long enough for me to be kicked from games such as Battlefield 4 due to the high ping.A complete nightmare for gamers.EDIT 2016-2017: Since reviewing this wifi adapter the problem has corrected itself. Updating to the latest drivers after they were released fixed my issues. The adapter is capable of speeds upto ~162Mbps, which in the 3 years since my review is now slower than the full 200Mbps which Virgin Media provide and I can get on my phone, but it's still a very reliable adapter and works well for gaming. The Linksys EA3000 I had intended to replace this with was actually much worse to the point where it refused to stay connected and I had to return it. For something reliable, you're better off with one of these!

This wireless adapter is great for anyone who has broadband speeds of up to 100mb+ and is unable to connect via Ethernet. Its dual band wireless N technology means it can connect at a maximum of 300mbps + 300mbps meaning even with a weak connection due to walls or other obstacles you're highly likely to achieve your internet connections maximum download/upload speed.I bought this as I needed a strong connection so I could take full advantage of upgrading my internet to 60mb fibre optic and so far it's working great. The only downside is the usb extension lead this comes with is only around 60cm long which wasn't enough to put it to any actual use, only if your desktop is very close to your screen would you be able to take advantage of the extension lead and the supplied attachment velcro which is why this receives 4 stars. Luckily I had a much longer usb extension lead with my previous belkin adapter that I am able to use. This adapter comes with:- USB extension lead (allowing you to place it where it will receive the best connection)- Driver installation CD- Plastic holder & sticky back velcro (allowing you to attach the adapter to a vertical surface)Overall however this is a great piece of technology and is more than enough for any normal internet speeds making it future proof.

I bought this adapter to replace an old netgear dongle that had started to fail. After a look around this seemed to have everything i want/need for the price and its worth paying for a trusted brand and new non refurbished item when it comes to these pens. It comes in a small cardboard box not one of those horrible moulded plastic packages which need a chainsaw to get into. Its nicely styled and the cradle it comes with is small enough to sit pretty much anywhere but not too small so that its liable to fall over. The older netgear dongles used to get really hot with continued use, this certainly gets a little warm but the improved vents really seemed to have made a difference. Signal wise,it seems far improved compared to my old pen, with my PC receiving full signal all the time where as it was only around half before. So all in all its a nice to look at and does its job, the major issue with it is the software. I had so many issues with the software and the drives that came in the box, i fixed one thing and it just through up another error. I recommend you take the disc that comes in the box and use it as a coaster and download the newest software direct from netgear (...).

I ordered one of these to use with my Panasonic TX-P42G20B. The set up was straightforward following the instructions on the NETGEAR website and there's no need to use a PC. There is a list of compatible Panasonic TVs on the NETGEAR website but I found it difficult to find so I did this: Using the Search bar on the website type 'panasonic compatibility wireless' and select the top result 'WNDA3100 Compatible Panasonic TVs'. This will give the compatibility list by country. I would also suggest using something like a TP-LINK Powerline adapter pair instead and connecting with a LAN cable. I used these to connect to my Sony home cinema system and it works fine.Unfortunately I couldn't use this for my Panasonic as the Ethernet port on the TV is covered by the stand bracket and moving it would only cover another port, e.g. HDMI, and I didn't want to start drilling holes in the bracket either.BTW having got the WNDA3100 working with my TV I'm not sure it was worth the trouble as the content that's available for the Panasonic is pretty poor compared to the Sony home cinema system.

I purchased this as I had just bought a Panasonic Viera TV and wanted to connect it to my wireless modem so that I could get the TV online. The Panasonic one costs so much more and this one works just as well, plus I have used NetGear products before and have never really had any issues with them, very reliable stuff.Setting it up to work with the TV was pretty straight forward, you just plug it into the 1'st USB port in the back, power on the TV and go into settings and let it do an auto scan, it found the device straight away. All you need after that is your modem/router settings (password, ip address etc - usually written on the back of the router)and input them into the network screen on the settings menu on the TV and thats it.Gave it a 5-star rating as it was simple to setup and worked exactly a Panasonic one would.Something else in its favour is that NetGear give it a 2 year warranty.I would quite happily recommend it to others.

If you are intending to use this to upgrade the wireless on your laptop like I did then rest assured that it works really well. Also have a look on ebay as you can often upgrade the internal wireless to Dualband for about £15 by replacing the card (as long as the Bios isn't locked down).I have a 50meg Virgin connection and it downloads at over 5Megabytes per second no problem which is pretty much the maximum bandwith of this connection. However, a word of warning it's pretty large so you may have to use the laptops internal adapter and just plug it in when downloading as I do. This is because, if you move the laptop around a lot with it plugged in as it's so bulky it can easily be bent if youdo not take care.I am buying a second one for this reason but at least it's now half the price I originally paid for it.It's a lot smaller without the plastic case as well and still works (which I had to do to try to fix the bent USB connection) :)

I bought this after reading on other reviews that it works with Panasonic Viera Smart tvs. And it does! My experience was not quite as straighforward as some people - I wanted to tune it into my BT Mark2 Hub and although this has a "wireless association" button, that process failed. In the end it was a matter of changing the encryption system(which was pretty much beyond my capabilities) to complete the set up. A big thank you is due to my helpful neighbour who spent a whole afternoon on the job! HOWEVER,the results are fantastic! I have seen critism in other reviews of the poor services provided by Panasonic through their internet system, particularly that there is not a good film viewing service (you cannot access Lovefilm or Netflix)but I found a film streaming option on the Panasonic site which looks really good and affordable - for example at the time of writing (May 2012)it is offering "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" for £3.49!

I was looking for a Wireless adapter (Dongle) for my Panasonic TV TX-L37DT30B other than the Panasonic one which is way over priced at £70 to £80, carried out a Google search, as you do, and eventually came to this one on Amazon. I purchased this on the strength of the reviews all saying that the WNDA3100v2 would work on Panasonic TVs. You don't need to install s/ware. just plug into a USB port on TV and go to TV menu and follow instructions for setting up Wireless connection, Had a couple of false starts with my security code, my fault, and the TV was connected with no problem, took about 10 minutes inc false starts.Hopefully in the futer the Panasonic web content will improve and be as goodas the WI-Fi adapter. If it had not been for the reviews I would not have found this product and at less than half Panasonic price it has to be worth it.

Haven't got a smart TV or one that connects to the internet, but I do still have an old Acer Aspire One netbook with a reasonable battery life and thought it would be good for browsing down the bottom of the garden (there are somethings that I find a tablet isn't quite as good for, like writing). I had updated some of the internals, bigger harddrive, more ram & windows 7, but never replaced the wifi card.Using a Microsoft XBox 360 external DVD I installed the drivers from the included CD, rebooted and then pressed the WPS button my HomeHub & the dongle itself. It connected, which is pleasing as these things either work or don't. Result, older technology given a new lease of life with the internet.Surprised how hot the dongle got, though and it does mean there's more drain on a battery.

I bought this product to link my new Panasonic Smart VIERA TX-L32E30B 32-inch to the internet. After prompt delivery I installed the adapter into one of the USB slots on the TV and followed the instructions to link it to my wireless router. The TV recognised the adapter and took me through the set up in clear, easy to follow steps. Within minutes it had linked to the router and I was able to use the smart features on the TV. Don't even think about paying the extortionate price of the Panasonic adapter when this product is available at a much lower price. At the moment the adapter prevents the TV from sitting back against the wall but I can easily overcome this by fixing it to a short USB extension lead so that it can hang down the back of the TV.Really pleased with this purchase.

I bought this product a couple of months after I had set up my TV (but not the internet connectivity). I plugged in the Netgear WNDA3100 adapter and followed the steps to connect to my wireless broadband. This all seemed to be successful, including passing the connection test. However, when I clicked on the Viera Cast button, it said 'Communication with the server failed. {500). After a while please try again".I contacted Panasonic Customer Services. They talked me through the process of setting it up from the shop settings and then it worked fine. If you see this error, don't dispair it does work, just call Panasonic Cunstomer Services. They told me that this wireless adaptor is the only one that works with the TX-P50GT30B apart from the Panasonic adaptor.
