I have bought a few NERF guns in the past but in comparison to this Mega Twinshock, they are just so tiny as this is huge. In fairness to the others we have this is the first one that uses just Mega Dart's and so I suppose it needs to be big but wow it is whopping. My son is younger than the recommended age of 8 and over and so in the interests of trying the gun out properly for this review and to also check if the age limit is about right i.e. is this going to hurt if one of my Children fires it at the other one, I decided to take a few practice shots on my Husband first from a little bit of a distance. My Husband told me that the bullets hurt and he could still feel where they had hit him more than 5 minutes later and so in the interest of gender/marital equality (and mainly because I thought he was being a big baby as the darts are made from rubber and foam and surely wouldn't hurt that much) I did actually let him fire at me too. The conclusion of our little experiment is that sadly I have to admit that he was right as they do sting a little bit when they hit you and yes you can still feel the shot a little while later and so I would absolutely recommend not giving this gun to a younger child who is inevitably going to fire the gun at their sibling/friend/mum/dad/grandma/cat/dog etc. We have given the gun to my Son but I have withheld the darts from him unless we are outside where he can fire it properly and also not accidentally (or purposefully) hit any of us. I have made him promise not to fire them at his Sister no matter how much she may annoy him and he absolutely loves the gun.The TwinShock itself is brilliant and the darts make a really satisfying whistle noise when they are shot. The gun has 3 shooting modes where you can fire one dart at a time, two at a time or even slam-fire so that all of the darts are shot quickly two after two. The gun is pump action powered and so no batteries are needed. To fire the gun you need to pull the pump backwards and then forwards again and you then press the trigger halfway for one dart or pull the trigger fully back for two darts. To slam-fire you hold the trigger fully back and then pull and push the pump action backwards then forwards and it releases two darts at a time on each forwards push. The only downside to the gun is that the darts are used very quickly especially if using slam-fire and then the inevitable hunt to see where they have gone begins and so I have just bought a

The Mega Twin Shock is a great Nerf gun, perfect for battles. The gun is fairly large, measuring just over 27", (a little under 70cm) at it's longest. You *could* argue it's a little top-heavy, but I didn't find it an issue in use. But for a younger/smaller child, the Mega Twin Shock may prove unweildy. The Twin Shock has a satisfying cocking action, which involves pulling the front handle back and pushing it forward again. Slam fire fans will be pleased to hear it features slam fire, which means you can keep the trigger pressed and as the cocking cycle is completed, the darts are fired. This is great for rapid fire. The Twin Shock firing system is clever and well-implemented. Loading is simple and fast, you just poke darts down the barrel end. Darts are fired from top to bottom, and right to left. A single cocking action allows you to fire two darts, either singly, or both at once. Firing is controlled by how far you pull the trigger. A half-pull fires the first dart from the right hand column of five darts, with a full pull of the trigger firing a second dart from the left hand column of five. Even if you have a just two darts dart in the top right barrel and bottom left barrel, you the Twin Shock will fire your darts one after the other, or both together. It's a really neat system! However if you don't have a dart in both sides, you'll only shoot one dart with a single cocking action, the other shot will be a dry fire.Shot power is excellent, with enough punch to have your opponent keeping their head down. As a result, shot accuracy is also pretty good, bearing in mind you are shooting from 10 different barrels. Once you get your eye in, shooting is predictably accurate. There are two good loops for a carry strap, and two picatinny rails up top for a sight, light, or one of the many accessories you can fit to Nerf picatinny rails. As is usual for Nerf guns, the detailing is only really on one side of the gun.I have got NOTHING bad to say about this gun at all, I love it! Yeah it's expensive, but that's what Christmas and birthdays are for.Highly recommended.

I am an un-rivalled fan of NERF toys..... mainly from a point of view as a buyer who really believes in value for money (hence why I could NEVER buy "action figures")And this recent addition to the MEGA line-up is, in my view, ""probably"" the best value unit to come out on the line..... why??1. £23 pounds2. Big!!.. Its just a show-stopper in size yet surprisingly easy to handle (for the intended target audience of "7+ year olds")... stands out in the crowd3. Features..... can hold/fire 10 darts, can fire either 1 or 2 of those 10 darts at a time, has the Nerf "slamshot" feature; hold the trigger and pump the loading handle to release 2x darts on each pump action.... fires as fast as you can pump!!.4.the cool factor!..... its a unique design!... some will hate, others will love.............. im in the latter camp...... seeing those 10x darts all pointed towards you is daunting!!!.... the pump action priming for each shot (same as the Rotofury) is also pretty damn cool, feels rugged and sure!...5. Reliable.... when something "feels good" there's a damn good chance it will be good; and based on other MEGA nerfs bought and used by my very lucky friends'son, it will last and last............................... unfortunately the darts wont :)Its not my favorite Nerf Mega ( the Mastadon is my fav but probably because it is electric....which has allowed me to "modify" it a wee bit :) )) but all in all probably it is the best??............

Without doubt, this NERF N-Strike Mega Twin Shock is the most fun Nerf gun I have had the pleasure of using. The Nerf gun is big and imposing. This is true pump action room clearer. It has a capacity of 10x Mega darts that whistle when they travel through the air. There is a double action trigger so that you can shoot a single dart with a light trigger pull or two darts at the same time with a full squeeze of the trigger each time you cock the weapon. There is also the option of slam fire. Keeping your finger on the trigger and working the cocking handle this Nerf can be emptied in less than 2.5 seconds. It has good range and power, dealing out a good sting so remember to wear those safety glasses.Using slam fire paralyses the enemy with a furious onslaught, those on the receiving end just duck and dive to avoid the close range sting of the dart. I’ve been on the receiving end of it.The only disadvantage is the speed at which it can be emptied, make sure you have a trusty sidearm pistol handy to keep up a rate of fire. Reloading takes time as each mega dart has to be reloaded individually. Most importantly, both my sons and daughter fight over who gets to use it and that is a mark of quality. This is a fun toy and deserves the title of Twin Shock.

Awesome! Just awesome! I could finish the review right there really, but in fairness I’d better furnish some more details.Firstly, it’s big and heavy, so it’s probably designed for the older child, or big kid that never grew up (judging from the price, this could be Nerf’s target audience). There are strap fittings to fit a shoulder strap, but it doesn’t come with one... oddly. So be aware, if your child can lift it he or she will probably feel the king or queen of the park, but if not then it could prove disappointing. As an adult re-finding his inner child, I can hold it with one hand and love it. Most kids want the biggest gun, this is it.It fires single rounds, double rounds,or even pump action rapid fire and is surprisingly accurate over a long distance. The darts are larger the standard and you’ll probably want to buy extra packs, but it does come with ten to start you off. Other than that there’s not a lot more to say.I love it!

This is a big Nerf toy, as the name suggests its a mega Nerf. You have a Nerf that really does make you smile, I’ve a few Nerf’s and this has to be one of the best, its capable f firing one dart at a time, or it will fire 2 darts at once, or if you really having a target in your sights you can unleash all 10 darts rapidly with slam-fire action, brilliant, but it empties in second, only down side is you need to fill it back up again. For a young one this may be a bit heavy and hard to use with the balance.Older uses will love it, I do, we often have a Nerf night at our local Karate club and this will make an amazing addition to our collection. This is my best Nerf yet, I love the size and weight, the action is excellent, not idea for a young one but the slightly older kids will love it

This is huge fun and surprisingly well engineered to deliver either individual or pairs of Nerf at a time. It will just about reach the claimed range but only in perfect conditions... still plenty far enough for some indoor or outdoor silliness. It's pretty big for any child to hold so probably not suitable until they are >130cm and as the mechanism fires off in pairs the aim drops a little with each successive pair making it a bit more tricky than most to hit a target. I also think the price is pretty steep but Nerf is a tried and tested toy that does seem built to last.At this price I would really have liked a spare set of Nerf pellets to be included - so easy to lose one.Other than that it's fun and certainly looks the part.

The RoughCut has long been a favourite of mine in the standard calibre Nerf series - I love that it works exactly like a twin-barrel pump-action shotgun. The Mega TwinShock is essentially a 10-shot version of the RoughCut, except a heck of a lot bigger, and of course sporting the high calibre Mega ammo. Just like the RoughCut, it's very satisfying to use - the pump action is longer travel, but the ammo packs more of a punch, so you'd expect to have to pump more air to launch them. I snuck this into a Nerf battle with my son, and he was pounded into submission - EAT MY BULLETS!! Great, great fun, and just like the Roughcut, the DoubleShock works flawlessly. Having another 2 shots on hand is a bonus, too.

There is no getting away from the fact that this is an enormous piece of plastic. It's almost as big as my 5 year old child! You have to bear in mind where you will store it as it is not the type of toy you can easily stick in a drawer/cupboard.However if you are prepared to live with its bulk, this gun absolutely does what it says on the tin. Despite its size it's quite easy to use and it's easy to get the hang of shooting a single bullet, two at a time or the rapid fire action. The pull back mechanism is very smooth. It comes with 10 bullets but these get used up extremely quickly so I would recommend investing in Moreno if you want to have a proper battle.

Arrived in a massive box which provided hours of fun on its own !??. The gun is large and my 9 year old was made up with it. He would have liked it to be modular and an automatic fire, like some of the nerf guns are but we were impressed with the distance it fired. It came with darts but you'll probably need to get some more ( you can order separately) to add to the fun and length of use you'll get from it.The shot is quite powerful so if we use nerf guns against one another we have a chest and below rule but also wear goggles to protect eyes & be on the safe side.Boys and Nerf guns seem to be a winning combination and this gun is no exception.

8.10.2017

Wow this thing is seriously huge! Unfortunately it arrived unpackaged with just an address label on the box which meant that the white MEGA writing was all scuffed and looked awful. That aside it has been a massive hit with my little lad, who loves all things Nerf related. There are only 10 foam darts supplied, which does mean you have to constantly go chasing after the blasted things when he gets trigger happy. They easily fly 25ft with a good degree of accuracy if there's no wind. We used ours in an open campsite and had an awesome time. Just bear in mind how big it is if buying for any age less than 6!

7.10.2017

This thing is an absolute beast, but because it is air loaded, rather than battery powered, it isn't heavy, and doesn't make the telltale drone of the powered nerf guns. In theory it can shoot either one or two darts at a time, but i'm too ham fisted to work out what the instructions are trying to tell me about the switch to single dart. Holding the trigger whilst pumping the gas also allows a spray mode of all of the darts (not accurate, but pretty fearsome). The big darts are fairly high impact, so definitely not one for close quarters use, unless you're a fearless type with goggles.

As soon as I unwrapped this huge gun on behalf of my ten-year-old son I was impressed that it didn't require batteries because it's a pump action. Then I hotfooted it over to YouTube to watch a video review. My son is a huge fan of Nerf guns and really liked it. The gun is well made and replicates a number of features you'd find on real firearms. The aim is excellent and our cats unfortunately are not fans!It loses a star because I think that it should be priced at about a tenner less.

12.10.2017

I've never been a huge fan of the mega nerf range, but the Twin Shock is a blaster to demonstrate it's appeal. Whilst I don't think it's visual design is the best, it feels satisfyingly weighty, has a satisfying pump grip and trigger action. You can fire off two single shots from one pump, or fire both at once with a full trigger pull and this feels easy to differentiate between. It seems to be fairly powerful although just as inaccurate as every other nerf gun.

If you liked the Rough Cut 2x4 then meet his Big Brother. Not as sharp and nimble like the Rough Cut, but with bigger bullets and more capacity. There are 10 Mega darts and they empties quickly. Anyone of those poor kids down range is going to suffer, plus I get to reload real quick.OK, so a 51 year old bloke doing Nerf with his 10 and 8 year old can get carried away. But don't give them the Twin Shock, it's for Dads, or maybe Mums too :)
