I have two old hardware synths and Reaper. Although my synths are great at making incredible noises, they can also be used as MIDI keyboards. But it's clunky; I can't get a five octave keyboard on the desk (so they're not conveniently sited), and these keyboards can't control the play back or mixers, and they don't have drum pads. Functional, but not ideal. What should I do? I know; why not buy a modern two octave controller?Doing some research, this one seemed like the Reaper community's control keyboard of choice. With manufacturer supplied DAW support, it's excellent. A few quick setup steps gets you where you need to be -- register the device with Nektar, they'll link you to a zip file with an executable and some Reaper-specific doc. Run the executable, follow the simple steps you need to make in Reaper's config, and you're off. Easy -- takes less than ten mins.As for the device itself -- brilliant. USB powered (so no power cables to add your under-desk spaghetti). But with no need for a driver install. Works out of the box. Feels solid, with professional quality resistance on the faders and pots. Nice keyboard for the price; not weighted, but springy rather than flabby. I'm using the default sensitivity curve since I unboxed in and it's good and subtle, but if you want to change the velocity sensitivity, there are five choices of curve. And you can load user or default instrument maps (default drum pads worked straight away with the Manda Audio MT Power Drumkit VST, for example). So no more config required except for advanced tweaks. You can save five user preset maps in the keyboard itself -- but Reaper's "learn" functions and the ability to save unlimited instrument or device maps via Reaper dialogues essentially means you can set up anything with a bit of patience.Nice navigation too -- you quickly learn some easy shortcuts, like changing the octave of the keyboard, or speedily navigating to the mixer. You can control the mixer's volume or pan using the pots for eight tracks, and jump to the next eight using a quick shortcut. You can display a VST instrument GUI and hide it with button combos, and manage the playback.Very configurable, very functional, productive straight away. What an excellent device. I recommend, especially for Reaper users although I've heard good reports for Ableton and Pro Tools users, too. I can't imagine what I would have got for less than £100 that would have been better. Good work Nektar.EDIT: Just updated slightly to correct some atrocious typo's.

Bought this for my husband and this is his review. The Nektar Impact LX25+ far exceeds my expectations, it is well made and looks expensive, visually you only see a fraction of it’s capabilities, but most of the buttons and keys are multi functional, it can send all LSB, MSB CC and Program Change messages - and it’s all powered by the iPad, (its a good idea to use a usb powered hub to save the iPad battery).I specifically bought it so that I could use it on my lap with my iPad whilst comfortably sitting on my recliner. I also initially wanted to be able to operate Cubasis3 transport controls using the transport controls on the keyboard, but sadly this feature has not yet been implemented in Cubasis. The rotary controls are already mapped to operate all the controls of almost all my synths within Cubasis with ease and precision, you can create your own midi maps and save them as presets.Money definitely well spent.

Really happy I bought this...it works perfectly with the included Bitwig software (you literally install it, attach the Impact LX25 by USB, and everything is already set up) and FL Studio (plus it should work perfectly with other DAW's), plus the online (and included) instructions for using it and maximising it's functionality with your preferred software and just general usage are easy to follow and understand. It looks great with the coloured pads also and everything feels and looks premium! I don't think there are many other midi controllers at this price who match this for functions, ease of use, value and design!

I give 4 stars and not 5 because probably Nektar Impact LX25 is not the best 25 keys keyboard in the marke. However, I'm very happy and I have received what I was looking for. The integration with Bitwig (I make music on that software) is really good, which it means it has improved my workflow. Sensitive keys is what I expected too because I used to make music with the Nektar Panorama. Pads are also sensibl, but useless for me because I use the maschine to make the groove. Having said that the price/quality is very good, the product is also good finished.

I have the Nektar Panorama P6 and wanted a smaller keyboard to take with me on trips. Unfortunately it is just a smidge too large to fit in my hand luggage bag, but I now find myself using it away from my main studio all the time, it has the same integration with Logic as its larger sibling and I love that when using my laptop. Definitely recommend this keyboard, quick access to the transport, full size keys and quite portable, for the mobile studio its brilliant.

Bought this to use with Reason after much research into these low priced controllers. Almost bought the m-audio one because its also got the full sized keys, but its super bulky and really plasticy feeling. Then i found this one; this thing is great, the pitch and mod wheels feel awesome, its portable enough to take with me and functions really well. After 1 hour of playing im super happy with my purchase, A+ for Nektar

I bought this for integration with cubase. The software is on their website, accessed when you register and type in the device serial number. Easy to do. Very pleased with the result. Nicely working with midi midi learn and all pad controls in cubase. It is a big keyboard with full-sized keys - to bear in mind when thinking where you will place it. It is not a tiny thing like an Akai MPK mini...

Phenomenal bit of kit, took a while to set up with my studio one in that transport and knobs didn't work, but after downloading a different zip to the one recommended in instructions it worked well. I'd read the knobs were infinity, but they are not. Keys are also a little too firm but you get used to it. For the money, really happy with it and it does exactly what it's meant to do.

Had tried Alesis and a Novation in a shop and returned the Novation as one of the keys kept catching. Tried this as the reviews looked promising and I'm glad I did. Feels and looks great. Keys are solid and the pads and switches are firm and look like they're made to last. LED's are all working fine and I'm really impressed for the £80 I paid on Amazon, nice one Nektar.

Great little keyboard that fits on the desk for on the fly editing of music.Nice full size keys and decent functionality. Assignable keys and controls for DAW compatibility. Not happy with the velocity of the keys and none of the velocity curves fit my playing.Keys are a bit clumpy and springy but reasonable.Overall, it does what it's designed for and I'm happy.

Excellent midi keyboard. Small learning curve with all the internal settings and presets but fairly easy to figure out with a bit of playing around. The digital display makes it very intuitive to work around the settings and presets and the overall layout of the keyboard is very well thought out. Can’t recommend this highly enough, get one whilst you can!

This keyboard fits to my needs because the few This product meets my needs because the space I had available in my "home studio" is restricted, keyboard keys and pad for percussion is sufficient. Moreover, the provided software "Bitwig" works rather badly on Linux. I got the software "Ardor" even if the integration with the keyboard is less complete.

I bought this to use with my portable recording studio while traveling. I use it with Propellerheads Reason and it integrates nicely with it. I’m not actually a keyboard/piano player, but this allows me to lay down melodies, bass lines, and drum tracks. It seems well built and is a real bargain at $99 and it fits in my suitcase.

Very functional, yet doesn't take up a whole lot of space! I'm happy with the pressure sensitive pads and keys, everything works like a charm right out the box. The knobs go from 0 to 100, so you always know what values you have set. Quite affordable if you are looking for a professional grade midi keyboard, highly recommended!

30.8.2017

It's larger and sturdier than I expected. Negative side to that is it won't fit in my backpack easily like I thought it might, especially with my laptop in there as well. That's on me for not researching the dimensions though. Overall this is a great deal for a compact semi-portable midi keyboard.
