After having been disappointed with the previous Naruto game (rise of a ninja) I was dubious about buying the follow on game "Broken Bond". To be honest in my view "Rise Of A Ninja" had some major flaws in the way it was played. The missions were repetitive and with the map being reasonably small it made for a rather dull, repetitive gaming experience, the controls were unfriendly and slow, the character selection was minimal and the overall game was lacking. However, The Broken Bond does it's best to fix some of those problems but also adds some of its own to the rather long list that the previous outing gave the young Ninja. The second game as you might expect focuses on the second half of the Naruto TV show in which Sasuke falls to the "darkness".The in-game story mode manages to cover a vast amount of the Naruto television series without it being a game you will end up playing for days trying to get half way through the story mode. The story mode is relatively quick and covers the most important parts of the story: Naruto's training, Sasuke's jealousy and his eventual decision to leave to become more powerful, add to the mix a few off missions with your fellow Ninja and that's pretty much the game in a nutshell. The most obvious improvement to the first game is the fighting. Although the controls are still a little slow and button bashing is still favourable at times, the fighting system has definitely improved. For a start each character has a more unique (still not as good as it could be) move list (which was a huge disappointment in Rise Of A Ninja) and the Jutsu's are easier to perform. There is no huge gap between levels 1-2-3 but instead a very short distance between levels 1-5 which make your attack more powerful. Level 5 can only be achieved when you have filled your rage meter which also acts as a Jutsu limiter. When your meter is empty you can't perform a Jutsu but with each strike you land on your opponent the meter fills and the more it fills the stronger attacks you can dish out. The character sheet is a lot broader this time around which is a vast improvement to the previous game but several characters are still missing such as Hinata and Kankuro which is a slight let down but not a huge problem.Talking of Kankuro, it is also a disappointment that within the story you do not get to fight as the sand village ninja when Naruto and the gang are tracking Sasuke. As fans of the series will know the Sand Village ninja step in when the boys from the Leaf Village are in trouble and help them fight but in the game their appearance is brought down to a rather pathetic cameo. Other disappointments include the shear lack of power you feel behind each character. Obviously you can't have supremely overpowered characters but when fighting in the ending battle between Naruto and Sasuke the fight seems too rigid with no real room for improvisation or the feeling of a unique fight. It could have been improved by destructible scenery or a more powerful version of Naruto and Sasuke in their Fox and Cursed forms. Instead you are given a character with more health and slightly more combo damage instead of a raging demon.Although the character selection and Jutsu's are much better in this game some things still tick me off. For instance Lee has only one move and that's the 7 Gates. The creators could have at least given him a special combo (like his patented "Leaf Hurricane") to make him a more interesting character to fight with and while we are at it where is Guy Sensei? Another character who is a vast disappointment is Sakura. Although she is the weakest of squad seven she is almost useless within the game. Her abilities are obviously based on those of the character within the TV show which is fine but she has not special abilities beyond the battle field. Other characters can explore hidden areas by breaking rocks (Naruto, Sasuke, Choji) Neji and Kiba have the ability to see traps and Kiba and Shikamaro have the ability to open doors and turn off traps but Sakura has nothing. She is starting her training to become a medical ninja they could have at least given her the ability to heal your squad when you are roaming around the map but as she cannot do this she is by far the weakest person and the least useful when exploring the map.Overall the game is good. The graphics are impressive and the maps and areas look great despite a few glitches here and there and the lip syncing is poor. The game improves on the previous title but not so much it warrants any special acnolishments. For fans of the TV show I would say it's a must for the shear fact it is Naruto but I wouldn't recommend it to people who have never seen the show.

by Louise Logan UKit looks like i'm the first to review this game i'll tell you the info about what i know about the gameNaruto 2 Broken Bonds is the sequel of Naruto raise of a Ninja it starts with the journey mode its alot darker then the first game that takes after the final chuinn exams with Sasuke fighting Garra and the hidden leaf village is attack by Orochimaru along with the sound Ninja and sand Ninja and the hidden leaf village has taken a right good beating everything has been destroyed its takes place between episodes 80 to 135 of the anime.the heros of the game are our hyper active kunckle head Naruto lazy Shikamaru (what a Drag) and Neji are alot stronger Naruto with his nine tail fox power.unlike the first game you are now play as a squad rather than a single character and you can switch characters and they fellow you your able to switch the characters anytime in the game you have three characters in the team. i watched one video clip i it was Naruto Shikamaru and Neji are on a mission is to stop ninja bandits from attack a village you have compelete freedom with your characters and there's seven playable characters in the journey mode and in the fight mode they'll be 25 in total.there's alot improvements in this game like the fight mode and online mode you can fight three vs three, two vs two or one vs one going against other teams two vs two on line can be done as two vs two can be two separate players that the new online game.also you can play the charcater either japanese or english what ever suites you the tree mode you its a first person mode like you dont see Naruto jumping from tree to tree its kinda hard to explain but you'll know yourself when you get the chance to play it also your team members will jump from tree to tree in the tree mode also they can do different things like desarm traps but you can switch charcaters when jumping from tree to tree.some of the mission you cant switch characters so basically the mission revolves around the one character. when i was watching the video clip of Naruto Neji and Shikamaru their walking through the forest and Naruto stops and icon appears on Naruto head that he can sense danger but he dosent know what it is so you switch to Neji and he uses his Byakugan can see all the invisable traps which is really awsome! and you take control of Neji and take lead your team through a safe path.in the first game you can explore the hidden leaf villagethe fight mode when fighting agaisnt the enemy you can do a tag team in the video i watched Naruto fights one of the bandits use his speacil moves then switch to either Neji or Shikamaru. also what i thought was really cool was when Naruto Neji and Shikamaru come to a river theres no bridge so you use Nartou clone justu to make a naruto bridge then switch to shikamaru he use his shadow possession justu and he streches his shadow towards a hole to active a switch to open the door. so the jonuery mode is about team work.i watched a video interview on YOUTUBE it was an interview with the developer Masao Kobyashi and he was talking about the new features in the of Naruto broken bondshe said you'll be able to explore more areas there's going to be larger side misson compared to the naruto rise of a ninja also the game will have day and night so you can do mission durning the day or night also the weather will change you'll have sunny days and cloudy days you'll be able to enter some buildings .also the characters will be able to move their mouths when talking including facealy animation to express the emotion.also for the first time Sasuke will have his own story mode it will be all about him and his background.so there making Naruto broken bonds run along the lines like the Tv show so this game has big changes from Naruto rise of the Ninja.well its going to be a competition between Naruto broken bonds vs Naruto ulimate Ninja storm which game will be number one? its really up to the naruto fans like myself and all the Naruto fans from the USA and the UK will be buying both games when they hit the shops in november.so i've pre-order both games so i'll be looking forward to november in fact i've not completed Naruto rise of the Ninja yet so i better complete the game before i get Naruto broken bonds.so look up YOUTUBE and type in Naruto broken bonds and watch the videos.

naruto the broken bond is in my opinion the best anime game on 360. and possibly the best released to date. why? because i found that it can be fun for anyone, provided you have a slight intrest in fighting games or anime in general, you dont need to be familiar with the anime to enjoy it.The story begins halfway throught the anime story ( the first half is covered by Naruto, rise of the ninja) when the leaf village is under attack from orochimaru, you are delivered with a tutorial-like battle which gives you plenty of time to get to grips with the controls. after this you are thrown into the first mission as naruto, giving you time to free-roam,although the majority of the world is yet to be unlocked.Gameplay: The most part of your time in the game will be filled with rushing around forests, playing the undeniably dull tree runs and beating up poor bandits and thives, boring as that may sound the main story normally manages to keep fighting and running at a good pace with few moments where you find yourself stuck doing one task for too long. The Fights themselves tend to be fun and varied with a good deal of combos and special attacks to keep the battles fresh challenging, provided you arent cursed with a long line of random enemy spawns. the majority of battles are fair and almost all characters have plenty of combos and special attacks which can be activated ( with sufficant chakra) by a "hand sign" controlled by analouge sticks and then followed by a fast minigame which level of succes controls how effective your attack is.overall the battles are farly flawed or un-even and manage to keep key position in the game without dissapointing.Story: The story mode in the game follows the anime loyally, although the is a time in the middle of the game where you feel you arent achiving anything at all, anyone dissapointed by the story told must not point the finger at the game developers, as they have done a good job of re-telling the anime.Multiplayer:The multiplayer in the game consists of a few variations of standard battles ( Ranked Match, tournement ect) You simply select a character, search for a match and fight to win, in ranked matches you have 6 ranks ( student, graduate, genin, chunin, jounin, Hokage ). you are shown a required amount of xp which, once reached, you are pitted up against a unknown opponent in an exam, if you fail this you game simply take it again. The online is difficult at first but once you are particuarly good at one character it gets much easier. the best thing in the online is the fact that there is next to no lag, so fighting is smooth as singple player.Overall: This game is a certain one to try for anyone with any care for fighters or anime, and a must buy for fans of the series, remember to check out the demo on xbox live marketplace.

Very enjoyable game. If you are a Naruto fan then this is defiantly a game I would suggest. Goes along with the story perfectly, although the side missions can be tedious at times its easily overcome. Only thing that I would point out as being annoying is the constant need to travel long distances between locations, such a strain at times.Although the Multiplayer lacks potential it isn't as enjoyable as the story. But still a great game, I fully recommend for Naruto fans.

It's a fun game lots of fighting and a few puzzles thrown in. It's not quite as fun as the first Naruto game Rise of a Ninja and it's a bit annoying that you have to relearn some of the stuff you could do in the first one e.g. sprinting.
