My son got this as a gift when he was 2 years old. after a week or 2 of use, I told my wife we are throwing away all our old sippy cups and I purchased 4 more from Amazon because they are wonderful. I was so sick and tired of him tearing up every single sippy cup. he would bite and chew on them - if we were lucky they would last a month before the tip would tear, causing liquid to flow out freely when shook or dropped (also more likely to tear off and him swallow it). These Nalgene bottles WILL. NOT. TEAR. they are worth every penny. the tip is obviously comfortable enough for him to use, but it is hard. Not only does he have no chance of tearing this one up,but it immediately got him out of the habit of biting it (which i was starting to worry would mess up his teeth/bite). We've tried the kind with the straws too, but not only would he tear those up as well, but i hated that there would always be a significant amount of liquid left in the bottom that he could not get to. particularly annoying with milk.I see some other reviews that say these aren't good for 2 year-olds because the required suction is too much. i'm not sure about this - it seemed fine for my son who has just turned 2 at the time, and the suction does loosen up over time as the valves wear out. I guess I will let me daughter try it in a couple months after she turns 1 to see how young they can go. I've bought one set of replacement valves after about 4-5 months, i can't remember if its because they wore out or we lost a couple. but we regularly throw them in the dishwasher so this is to be expected.Lastly, and this may seem silly to some, but my son is a rather large child. at the age of 2 he looked more like a 4 year old. I was starting to feel like he looked kinda funny walking around with the handled sippy cups. These Nalgene bottles don't have that problem. They just look like kids water bottles, appropriate for whatever age (in terms of looks).update: my 15 month old daughter now uses these with no problem.

We have used these Nalgene bottles for a year and a half for our two kids. We use this Grip'n'Gulp lid for our younger, who was 2 1/4 years old when we started, and now nearly 4. We use the same bottle with the OTF lid for our nearly 7 year old. They are cute, colorful, indestructible, and nearly leak proof. This giraffe design is very nice; I really appreciate that it isn't a gendered design or color scheme like many of the ones with designs. However, the Grip'n'Gulp lid and valve really don't let much water out. Obviously, this is what keeps it from leaking. But it means that even with hard suction, the water only comes out in tiny drops. Even with the valve removed, it still comes out only in drips with suction. This means the kid has to work really hard to get an appreciable amount of water. I don't think my child is drinking as much as she should be because it is too much effort. She'll be old enough to move to the OTF top soon, so we will stick it out.Prior to getting these when are kids were 2/5 yo, we had used the Nuby No Spill Flip-it Cup, 12 Ounce for several years with the older one. The problem with that was that the kid chews through the soft rubber straw and you have to keep replacing it. It does let out more water, though, especially when the straw has been chewed a bit! When it was time for the younger one to move up to a no-handle water cup, I liked the Nalgene better because they can't chew through the hard spout and the kids can interchange the bottle part (actually I could even put my grown-up nalgene top on it).

I've been through a lot of sippy cups/ water bottles for my one year old and three year old. Some seem great at first and then turn out to be not so great after you use them. Not these! They remain awesome:PROS:- easy for little hands to grip, without having handles- fits in a standard cup holder, great for car rides or stroller rides (cups with handles or water bottles with wide bottoms don't fit in cup holders).- spill proof. (I've not had any leaks or issues like I have with other "spill proof" cups that leak, or even explode out of the straw from the spill-proof valve suction).- the kids can't chew through the spout (like they have done with the soft spouts and straws),but they are also not that really hard uncomfortable plastic either.- no replaceable spouts or straws. (the spill proof valve is replaceable, but it is inside and will wear out much slower than a spout or straw they chew on)- dishwasher safe, but also easy to clean by hand (no special tools, like straw cleaners, required)- clear so you can see how much water is insideCONS:- Not enough color options. I couldn't get these for my kids in their favorite colors, which are orange and red.UPDATE: Two years later and I still love these! Perfect to put in a backpack for school! The original ones I bought are still going strong and I've bough more since then, and they come in orange now!

If you're anything like me, you have tried tons of sippy cups for your child. After trying cups for a couple days or weeks they seem fine but then you start to find their flaws. Will leak they get moldy they crack. Or anything else you can possibly think of. With this cup I have not had any issues whatsoever. It doesn't leak it doesn't crack it doesn't get moldy it's just perfect. I've tried countless straw cups and after those get room temperature they start to suck the milk out the top and it makes huge mess. I really liked straw cups for a while but then I decided to give this one a try and even though it's not a straw cup I find that is absolutely perfect. The one minor issue is that since it is not insulated the liquid inside doesn't stay as cold as it could. The inside silicone valve is very easy to clean. It doesn't get moldy after a few weeks of use. I just cannot say enough good things about this cup. The only one that has come close to this are the Zak toddler cups, but my issue with those is that the valve inside gets moldy after a lot of use even with boiling. I have tried at least 20 kids cups for my three-year-old and this is the only one that has delivered all my expectations for the last four months. I love it!

Our daughter truly loves this bottle. It has become her milk bottle. The plastic stopper on the inside keeps the bottle from leaking - though from time to time some milk does spill out. We've tried all kinds of other bottles that were supposedly leak proof that have ended up leaking all its contents. The Nalgene bottle is much, much better. This bottle is really sturdy and has taken quite a beating, including dropping it on hard floor tile, hitting it against all kinds of things, and chew marks from the dog. It's very easy to clean too, which is a huge plus!Update: While we still like the bottle, we've found that you cannot put this bottle in the dishwasher - even on the top rack like the product information recommends. We've had three of the bottles break and we suspect that it is a breakdown of the plastic from putting it in the dishwasher. We would put the cup in the dishwasher about once a week and hand wash it daily. We have two of these cups and they get daily use from a toddler. While we admit that it gets plenty of abuse, it's a bit disappointing to have had so many of them break in the last year. The tops to the cups have never been a problem - those have remained in tact. The bottles themselves though have broken.

In my humble opinion, Nalgene makes some of the best water bottles on the planet- both for kids & adults! What I love about them is that they are BPA free, break proof, leak-proof, mold & smell resistant, easy to clean & easy to use. These kids bottles are just the right size, small enough for little hands, yet big enough (& "cool" enough) for bigger kids. The hole/loop on the top makes grabbing it easy, & it also makes it great for outdoor adventures because you can clip it to anything with a carabiner. There's only one, simple, silicone valve inside which can easily be removed for cleaning, or if not needed/desired for an older child. Take note though, without the valve in place, the bottle is not leak-proof as water can freely flow from the spout. If you search, you can find these for good prices too. (*Hint- don't negate your local stores either as I found a great deal on these in one of mine.) There really isn't anything negative I can think of about these. I've had some for years & just purchased more because I've decided to stop wasting my money on other brands that just break or mold (with bad valve design or straws you can't effectively clean). So go with Nalgene... you won't regret it.

My son LOVES this sippy, it holds a decent amount, it's easy for him to grip, and it has survived many drops to the floor. He threw it at the tv and it survived, while the tv did not. My son is a thrower and I'm surprised this has lasted so long. The only bad thing I can say is this: if he throws it just right, or hard enough, the little rubber piece inside that keeps fluids from leaking, falls out and it is a pain to retrieve and put back in without having to remove the juice first (which you can't exactly do in the middle of wal-mart without a second cup). I wouldn't advise leaving this rubber piece floating around in your kid's juice since it stops the fluids from rushing into your child's mouth, resulting in a wild coughing fit. But that doesn't happen very often, plus my son could seriously be a pitcher for some baseball team or something. Idk, I don't follow sports very well, maybe a Quarterback for the Broncos, either way I'm giving this cup 4 stars because it is super sturdy and holds a nice amount, unlike most sippys, if that piece didn't come loose on occasion, I'd give this cup 5 stars.

We bought this when we found out we were having a girl since the ones we had were more boyish. We bought it because of the Nalgene brand because we LOVE nalgene since they stand by their products and we have been known to drop them from a zip line and they are still ok. These are the perfect size for little ones which is great. Now that my son is getting older we switch out the toddler lid for either the flip top lid or the grow up nalgene lid which he is able to open himself. My main complaint of the toddle cup is that it's supposed to be leak proof. While you can loose a nalgene and not know where it is because you can't smell the spoiled milk....we have struggled with the leak proofing. My daughter has tipped the cup upside down and likes to play in the milk that leaks out. Which means we have to watch her int he carseat because it leaks and we don't want a mess in the car. I like the fact that she can hold it by herself and that it's great size and style for her. But I don't like that it seems to leake no matter how hard I push the valve in.

I am a huge fan of Nalgene and amazon . I read many poor reviews however we went with this bottle actually I brought about 10 of them in different colors . We are having wonderful luck with all the other colors and patterns except this one. My son of 20 months threw it on a tile floor in a dept store and it cracked. It was only a few days old. I immediately returned to amazon for a replacement. Then when I removed the replacement from dishwasher again bottom was cracked. Upon calling amazon this time I decided to go with a green as a replacement and no problems at all.Amazon as usual is just amazing at handling returns! The valves are fantastic! No leaks! No drip !The covers actually screws on after multiple runs in dishwasher unlike the munchkin click and locks that get unshaped after a few washes. It is our standard sippy cup even the grandparents think it is so much better then the other many cups out there..and valves are so easy to remove.Highly recommend just had to holdBack on a star because if the cracking on the blue

I used Nalgene water bottles myself for years, but I tried other leak proof sippy cups and water bottles before buying this for my 18 month old son. I wish I hadn’t, this cup is great. It only has 3 pieces to clean that come apart easy and can’t hide mold. It only drips a tiny bit with he throws it, which is unavoidable. And best of all it’s holding up to his teething. He’s getting his last canine and chewed through several cups with silicone or rubbery parts, but this cup still looks almost new. Only drawback is it is pretty difficult to get the drink out, but that doesn’t stop him when he’s thirsty. Or you can just leave the valve off and it’s a regular sippy cup.Added 7/20/18 - my son just dropped the cup on the tile floor and it cracked pretty bad. We’d been using it for less than 2 months. I’m pretty upset because I loved the cup and was just about to buy a couple more. I contacted Nalgene and they will send a replacement, which is nice. I’m not sure if I’ll buy another or should switch brands now.

We ordered three of these Nalgene Grip-N-Gulp Water Bottles for our three daughters a little over a year ago. Our daughters are ages 1, 3, and 5. While the one-year-old hasn't used hers very often, the 3- and 5-year old girls have used theirs EVERY NIGHT as their nighttime water bottle, and have also brought them along on several hikes/camping trips.Based on those experiences, I must say: THESE ARE THE BEST KID'S DRINKING CUPS YOU WILL FIND. PERIOD!Whereas almost every other "sippy" cup, kid's "canteen," or "hydration" bottle we've tried has leaked--either immediately, or over time from use and abuse--these bottles just keep going. They have NEVER leaked. They seem impervious to damage.Even the colors and the designs/decorations on the bottle have remained in very good shape!Whether you're looking for a great "around the house" sippy cup or a top-notch water bottle for camping/hiking, LOOK NO FURTHER--JUST BUY THIS CUP! You won't be sorry. They're truly excellent.

I love these water bottles. They are better than a sippy cup because it is just a simple silicon (I think) valve and it looks just like a water bottle. My 4 year old has sensory issues and HAD tö have the right brand of milk. But in preschool kids were already making fun of him. This worked perfectly to prevent all.the spills and mess I was getting in his lunch box and back.pack!!! They do not leak (ubless they chuck it around enough to knock the valve loose) and it is easier to clean than most sippy cups and doesn't have all those obnoxious crevices that sippy cups tend to collect gross stuff when they leave it under a chair or some random place and you find it 3 days later. The con as I see it,is that for my 7 year old (who doesn't ever use a sippy cup) got one he became frustrated by it because he can't get much water out. It's very possible that it is just him (my 4 year old seems fine) and I am beginning to suspect he has an issue with his mouth.

BEST CUPS FOR TODDLERS AND KIDS. We've gone through SO many cups. Though contigo has great replacement guarantees, we went through so many of their cups and got tired of them leaking. Nalgene cups DO NOT LEAK. After about 3 years of daily use, the valve went on one of our cups. I contacted nalgene directly and though I never got an email reply (so had no idea what was happening), they did end up shipping me FOUR new valves. The only other issue we've had is that the lid on one of our 4 cups started to get sticky and peel apart. It must have come in contact with some sort of chemical (maybe bleach???) and the plastic totally disintegrated. We ordered this cup as a replacement and will stick with these Nalgene cups for the rest of time.Just FYI the valves are so effective that kids really have to suck to get anything out. Some kids might have a problem with that but I care more about being leakproof and my kids have learned to live with it.

This is a great water bottle for young toddlers. Essentially, it's just a sippy cup that looks like a water bottle and has the added benefit of being able to be "clipped" on to something. It comes with a one-piece valve which is easy to remove to wash and put back in. The valve is clear, also making it easy to see if there is any mold. Because this is more of a sippy cup, it does not have a straw. I bought this for my 18-month-old, and this is really beneficial, since he doesn't understand the concept of not having to tip a cup with a straw and ends up spilling those all over himself if you let him use a regular water bottle by himself. We've had this for a few weeks, and it seems pretty leak-proof.He leaves it laying around the house and no spills or leaks yet.Overall, this is a really great product, especially easy for young ones to use and still feel like they have a "big kid" water bottle like older brothers or sisters.

My 3yo loves these water bottles so much he carries them around the playground with him - he seems to like how easy they are to carry (the handle on the lid seems to be an ideal size for his fingers) and to drink from (no parts - lid/straw/etc. - he has to fumble around with).I think they're great because they're simple to fill, open/close, take apart for cleaning in the dishwasher, and because they have held up well despite the beating they take from him dropping them and banging them against things on the playground. Also, I have 4 of these and, in my experience, they don't leak. And as long as I have the valve inserted all the way (has not been an issue),he has no trouble drinking from them. It's certainly possible to buy cheaper water bottles, but my experience is those don't hold up or work as well, so they end up being wasted money and clutter up the cabinet.
