I have been using this style of Nalgene bottle for at least 6 or 7 years. I had three given to me back then. I would constantly rotate them in my usage. Well, 6 to 7 years into using them the bottoms of ALL THREE began to crack from the center injection nipple. This then caused them to begin leaking. I contacted Nalgene asking about any type of leak warranty. I found the response a bit comical. I was told to just consider the bottles as having lived a good long life (and basically they were not going to replace them). So here I found myself on Amazon to purchase a replacement (although I am going to need two more still).I am always on the go. I lift weights 6 days a week and always have a 32 oz narrow mouth with me.I jog 2½ miles round trip to and from the gym and carry the bottle in my hand. I constantly work on DIY projects at the house and keep my bottle filled with fluids to keep me hydrated. I keep one at the office and in a ten hour day attempt to drink three full bottles of water. And now, I have found this bottle to be the perfect companion to refilling our newly acquired Kuerig B60 (instead of removing the Keurig's water reservoir - it is much less cumbersome to bring the water to the machine) from the RO DI faucet in my house.So yes, I use them and run them through the test. So as far as durability goes I still think they are fantastic. I am bothered by the failure of my three bottles though. (And here is why). After receiving this new Nalgene bottle, it was EXTREMELY obvious the type of plastic used in the manufacturing of this bottle has changed. Maybe the ones made 7 years ago were not BPA free. The older ones do have the dreaded 7 (and no note of being BPA free like the new ones). But back to the point... The new bottles are softer, more pliable, and feel less brittle. Don't get me wrong - these are till very hard and sturdy bottles, but the older ones were definitely a harder type of plastic. And I am TOTALLY guessing this had something to do with the failure of the bottom of the bottles. Ahh, but who knows?Well, at least I have a new, fresh BPA free start. I would say the only perceived down side to these are the price. But I don't think it is a real down side. We live in a time when we want everything to be cheap. This often means we get low price and low quality. Well here is an item you pay good money for an almost bullet proof, long lasting, fluid reservoir. If you put your bottles through the usage I do, you will appreciate the durability of these. I may be a little hung up on having to buy new ones after many years of usage, but at least the first three were given to me. I think the plastic has changed in the bottles (now being BPA free) and maybe that means they will last 10 or more years now. Hopefully it doesn't make them NOT as durable.I think it deserves five stars (even if it lasts only 7 years) simply because I am confident there isn't a better bottle for the money. Now, I just need two more to replace the other two cracked bottom bottles and I will be set.

I remember a time ago when Nalgene was the have to have premium water bottle, which was also the case for me too at the time. I vividly remember not being able to go anywhere without seeing people with them in hand either in class in college or at the gym.Having had previous experience with this line, when I started becoming active fit again, I of course went in search of the old faithful line. To my surprise, I had trouble locating the line in very many of the major retail chains. As of late, the Contigo brand seems to dominate the market with their new nifty pop up dispenser. As previous with the Nalgene, I see everybody with one of these in tow lately. I have only owned one of these products,which was a hand-me-down, I don't claim to be an expert on all of their latest and greatest models, but I just don't prefer them to the Nalgene bottle.My main qualm, although it may be just my own strange personal quirk, are these pop up dispensers on these bottles. In my mind, I feel the constant sucking on these tops, almost like a baby on bottle, are not sanitary. I always have a vision of the suck tops glistening in the sun, catching anything floating in the air...growing who knows what...bacteria, etc. After all that, you go again and put it back in your mouth. I KNOW STRANGE--imagining such things, but I do.The simple fact of the matter for me is this...if it ain't broke, then don't fix it. I prefer the narrow mouth opening on these bottles, which prevent spills onto oneself when you go for a long pull for maximum hydration. I have owned the regular opening models and have had frequent spills. I will admit the one down side to the narrow mouth opening is cleaning the bottle. If you need to get into to scrub the inside with a sponge, forget about it, unless you have some sort of scrubbing brushes like those used to clean baby bottles. Drying also is an issue since the opening is so small. I don't have an issue as I regular clean mine on a daily basis as I am clean freak AS YOU READ ABOVE. So if you are one of those that frequently leaves their bottles sitting for long periods, then the narrow mouth opening may not be the option for you. One other issue to consider is whether or not you intend on using a water filtration system while out on longer journeys because if so, then a wide mouthed opening would be needed.I previously read many complaints about the bottles having a pungent aroma to them. I have had 4 bottles and not had this problem with a single one of them. The only thing that I can think of is that people are not cleaning them as frequently as they might need. Yes, it only water, but they still need to be washed out.As far as durability, my newest bottle has stood up to the test time and time again. My bottle has fallen out my pack while either hiking or trail running and has not broken after having fallen on both rocks and gravel trails. I have similarly accidentally dropped it on the pavement a few times and it still has not broken.

We've had one of these, which I bought at a sporting goods store, for around 10 years now. It is still in perfect condition minus some minimal scuffs from the dishwasher or being inside a backpack. The ones on Amazon are much cheaper and the quality still looks the same. We're glad we made the switch to BPA free years ago. They also make some Nalgene water bottles with different caps and necks, and they have all been wonderful. My favorite for everyday use at work and school are the newer ones that have a screw on top, but the top has a hinge with an arched topper-thing. The top opens up to reveal a hole about the circumference of a nickel, which gives you plenty of water without a lot of spills,

Everywhere I look, someone is boasting about the popular classic 32 oz. Nalgene bottles. So I figured it was time for me to get one. I ordered the 32 oz. wide mouth in grey/black lid.PROS:+ The bottle feels very nice in hand.+ Cap has defined ridges on it for a positive grip when opening or closing.+ I am not terribly rough with it so I can't say for durability for drops and falls. I imagine that at some point if I were careless enough I could break it but the material feels like thick quality plastic that I can't flex. It's very firm.+ I haven't run it through a dishwasher yet but cleaning by hand is a breeze because of the wide mouth.+ Last but not least,

I've had a number of water bottles, trying to find the right one, and I realize some are better than others for specific purposes. Nalgenes are great all around, but especially if you tend to drop things. I've broken more caps on more bottles, and it's frustrating because you either have to ditch (recycle) the bottle or buy a new cap for nearly the cost of a new bottle. Well, I still have those types of bottles for the car, where I need a pop-top, but I'm less likely to drop and break it. But I also needed an indestructible bottle for everyday use: home, walking, on the go. So I came back to Nalgene, the tried-and-true.What can I say...it's a classic. I got the narrow-mouth 32 oz one in Pomegranate...great color.

When I first ordered this I thought $10 for a water bottle? I know there are many much more expensive, but I guess I'm a little cheap. That being said, I wanted something large as I tend to guzzle water at the gym and a 16oz or 20oz bottle just doesn't cut it. After using this for the last week, I am completely in love with this bottle. While I know that sounds crazy, it was exactly what I needed and more. First it fits 32oz which is awesome, it doesn't leak even if you turn it upside down and any which way; and to make it even better, it has measurements on the side of the bottle. I like to use water enhancers a lot, so this is perfect. They normally are more for 8 or 16.9oz bottles,

I kept buying glass water bottles and then breaking them by mistake. This time around I decided to suck it up and go with plastic. Another thing that had been a priority had been fitting in a cup holder but I also wanted more capacity and I couldn't see to find both, so I went with the larger size. Imagine my delight when I realized this DOES fit in my cupholder! It will fit into the larger size cupholders ONLY, not the standard sized one. So, it doesn't fit in any of the ones in my Prius but does fit in the Mercury Mariner cupholder when you remove the cupholder insert allowing yourself a bit more space. I love the wide mouth on this bottle, too. I didn't want a straw and I always spill on myself so the wide mouth was a must.

Pros:Opening is ergonomically designed to cup your lower lip for easy drinking.Water flows smoothly when drinking.None of the threads is in contact with your lips when drinking.Easy to close and open.Seal is secure and leak proof.Made in the USA.Cons/Caution:Not really a con here but a word of advise... While it is impact resistant it is not impact or shatter proof. With this bottle design, the neck will always be the weakest link when it takes a fall, specially when the bottle is filled with water and or any fluid. While It's common with any Tritan co-polyseter made containers to be tough and handle some impact, it still can break when it falls on hard surface, specially when there's contents.

This is the standard bottle that made Nalgene a household name some years ago. This particular model has been updated to be BPA free, removing one of the biggest downsides of using a plastic bottle. These bottles are great for almost everything. Keep one in your house for tap water. Keep one at your desk for the water cooler. Keep a couple around to take backpacking and camping.The bottle has a wide mouth that makes it easy to fill and easy to clean. I love these things I have three I fill up all the time and keep two of them frozen (Not sure if it's recommended) but I've frozen all the way the bottom of neck (Making sure to remove the lid during freezing also) and I've never had a problem. I have one 32 ounce in particular that was my first... This one fell off the tailgate of my truck at 60 mph when frozen solid and only had a couple of scratches where it first contacted the pavement. A couple of months later my son left the same one on top of the cab of my F-350 and the same thing happened. This time it was almost full but completely melted. External scratches only but has not cracked or damaged the integrity of the bottle itself.

I carry this every day. This is the best water bottle that I have ever used. It has never leaked and I recommend this to everyone that asks about it for that reason. I am considering purchasing another as a back up. My Fiancee even bought one since I liked mine so much. She bought a smaller one that she can throw in her purse (it also has never leaked in her purse).Function: It serves its intended purpose. It holds water, and it holds it very well. It has never leaked on me. It does sweat, but I expected that. Due to my heavy use of it some of the lettering is coming off, although it is still legible. The stripped texture on the lid is very conductive to grip for tightening or removal.

The "wide mouth" is nice for filling without spilling, but the lid is not a squeeze-bottle top it is just a screw-on cap. It is very durable plastic, available in several colors and sizes. This particular one (36 oz) is too big for a standard bicycle bottle rack but great for backpacking or camping. It also has volume markings up one side so you can see how much is in it or how much you've been drinking.The wide mouth top is NOT wide enough to fit a whole hand into, and the bottle is too deep to reach the bottom with your fingers, so cleaning may be an issue. Use a bottle brush!! Only use regular dish soap and warm water, any stronger chemicals will eat the plastic.

This is my 3rd Nalgene bottle, all three the wide-mouth option.The bottles are light-weight yet strong plastic. Size-wise they fit in my packs (measurements given are accurate at 8.25" high by 3.5" wide. At 32 ounces you're holding half a gallon in the bottle and I have frozen water in these before longer treks without any issue in bulging or breaking. I have NOT used for anything hot given the thing is plastic and will conduct the heat out, but I'm sure it would hold up if you did (gloves I guess?).And sturdy. I have dropped this thing multiple times, banged it around while in the outside pouch, with no issue. It is scuffed up at this point, but I have no doubt will keep on going.

Nalgene durability makes this a great bottle, as well as the mouth, which is more than wide enough to provide a large flow of water (but not as wide as wide mouth bottles which make drinking difficult). I use two nalgene bottles on a frequent basis for going to the gym. I use this for water, and a wide mouth nalgene for protein shakes, as the wide mouth makes it easy to dump scoops of protein into it. Both have very large capacities, which is great for holding a large amount of liquid. This holds a bit more than a quarter of a gallon, which is a lot of fluid. This obviously has all the problems and benefits of a wide mouth bottle (hard to drink from, but easy to pour in stuff, etc). But aside from that, it's also a Nalgene. I've used Klean Kanteens, cheap lined aluminum bottles , cheap knockoff plastic bottles from target, the nissan intak water bottle (which uses the same type of plastic as this), and I've gotta say, Nalgene is the best hands down. The nissan intak is a close second and it uses the same plastic, however, its form factor with the sharper edges make it more prone to breaking, and mine did indeed break when I dropped it from about 3 feet up onto stone floor. I've done that multiple times to this and I've had it for over a year now,
