Out of the box impressions:A $100 msrp seems high so I'm glad I got it for the $75 price tag here. Solid and simple design - particularly with the legs, low profile, light, has a good, reliable feel.I did a ramen test for its first burn with a nearly empty canister. It took a few minutes to get a good boil going, but this was all on low fuel in pretty cold temperatures in my garage. Seemed to perform pretty well though. The few problems I have are pretty insignificant, i.e. - its a little more tricky to find that sweet spot on the valve where I can turn it quickly so the valve does spew out some gas when connecting or disconnecting a canister or finding a way to pack the hose down besides wrapping it around the stove. But these aren't quality affecting factors. Overall, I'm pretty happy. I only wish I would've bought it in the first place rather than the Snow Peak BiPod stove I got - which is a good little stove with an interesting design concept, but with how close the average price is between them, the Windpro II is a better option, particularly since it's all the more allowable for a windscreen and doesn't require quite as much of a footprint; and even though I'm not for cold weather outdoor recreation, having the ability to operate in cold weather adds to its emergency prep value for me, as well as being able to use all of the fuel left in a nearly empty canister in liquid feed mode. I also have a Pocket Rocket which can make an excellent sidekick to the Windpro II. MSR is a bit of a pricy name brand but if you can find a deal like a $25 price drop on Amazon, it makes it more worth your while.

I bought this stove for use as a guide in New Mexico, at altitudes that range from 7,000-11,000 ft. At first, with little knowledge about backpacking stoves, I was quite skeptical about paying $70+ for a stove when I could find a smaller/cheaper one for $10. (I'm looking at you, Etekcity)I WILL NEVER GO BACK.In my indoor test run, the WindPro II easily boiled water faster than my home gas stove, and also allowed for enough temperature control that I could successfully make a pancake without burning it. I was not expecting to have as much simmer control, and was astounded by this stove's efficiency. It just so happened that on the day I received my WindPro II, temperatures hovered around -4 degrees fahrenheit.I tested the stove's cold weather capabilities by packing the set into my backpack and setting it outside for an hour. Although there was a significant change in the initial performance, once I had inverted the canister, I was again surprised by the amount of heat this guy was able to put out against both subzero temps and 15 mph winds (sans windshield). If you're looking for something durable, easy to use, and powerful... look no further.Easily one of the best stove systems I've seen in my search for the perfect backcountry, group cooking system.

I've been using this stove regularly for a few years now. Originally purchased for a 12 day trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in NM. I've also loaned it out to my brother for his 21 day Rayado trek, and it is currently with him this summer as he works as a Philmont Ranger. It's been my go to stove when I'm out with a group backpacking and we'll be cooking dinners as a group. The included windscreen has held up nicely, though I've had a small tear develop in the ground heat reflector from repeated folding. Performed very well at all elevations where we camped, up to 11,000'. I did not carry the fuel stand for inverting, it works well, but decided that the stove was heavy enough without it.Large pots remained fairly stable, though not nearly as comfortable as using an MSR Dragonfly. I'd say it's about perfect for group cooking for up to 6-7 people. Pots larger than that, go with the Dragonfly. The extra weight is worth the improved stability. No gripes, no problems. I've not had to disassemble for any cleaning, the jet hasn't clogged once, using many different fuels including MSR IsoPro, Snow Peak Gigapower, Coleman canisters, and Optimus Gas.

This is efficient and light for winter camping. For the first quick trip I stowed the stove and fuel in my 500cc bear canister with food. (Wouldn't do that with my whisperlite! So lighter and less stinky/toxic than white gas.). I didn't do a lot of testing but in temps registering in the teens this little stove was light and boiled about 2 cups in less than two or three minutes. Three boils burned through 1.47oz of SnowPeak IsoPro fuel. Most of my grips are on the fuel configuration - not the stove. I don't think any other stove would be better. On the coldest morning I slept with the fuel because the night before - again below 20 and about 4000 ft elevation - I had a little trouble getting a flame going. It started after a few tries and allowed me to carefully invert the canister. For the first few minutes it was necessary to adjust the flow upwards as the flame would diminish after a few seconds and go out otherwise. Once I got familiar I was able to get the boils going quickly.

After a season's use I have come to love this little stove! I upgraded from the MSR PocketRocket which was a little small for what I need it for. This one is a little larger and much more manageable. I bought a better wind-screen (HIGHROCK® Lightweight Compact Folding Camp Stove Windscreen) that is not as flimsy as the one that comes with it and I am glad I did. This past season was not as windy as the one before but it stood up to all elements it encountered. I never had to invert the fuel canister, even in colder weather. It's easy to operate and heats up fast. The only con I have experienced with this stove is it's pack-ability. The outsides fold in on themselves and stick out a little from the center. It just gets placed in a bag with the rest of the supplies and I feel like I wish it were a little more protected.

Took it for a test drive at home before heading out with it. Infinite control of the flame from a just simmer to full blown rock'n. Pack fairly small bit I chose it because of the large burner and wide base for using larger pans. The burner is almost 3in across and the flame pattern is diffuse and heat my USGI mountain cook set pans evenly with not noticeable hot spots. I like the added ability to put out right a 10,000 BTU by inverting the canister which will also give you better cold weather performance but you lose some of the control ability of the flame. Over all I'm 100% satisfied. My primary use is car camping/ road tripping.

I have tested this out at home and then taken it on an overnight trip, it is the best stove I own.I like the easy adjustment of the flame with butane/propane stoves, but the remote stove like this is even better - I use it with a windscreen and that makes it better in windy weather. This does everything it was designed to do and it does it well.Good simmer control, easy to invert cylinder in cold weather or with almost empty cylinder, stable, good heat output which works even more efficiently with a windscreen. I would definitely recommend this stove.

This is the best backpacking stove I've ever used. It does everything well. Don't listen to those who say the wind screen won't last, mine has been used for over 100 days of cooking and packing up every day and is dirty but going strong. The folding screens are crazy heavy( like 4 oz). and will not fit completely around large pans. MSR customer service is great, they replaced a part free of charge on 5 year old stove when my wife cross threaded canister and stripped threads on fitting. I offered to pay but they would not let me. Awesome company!

This stove rules. I spent days looking for a remote feed stove that fit my needs. Stumbled across this stove browsing amazon. It's built extremely sturdy and the cooking surface is large enough to hold my MSR trail lite duo pot full of water no problem. Love the fact that remote feed let's you flip your cannister over for use at altitude. It's large enough to handle serious cooking but small enough to pack away easily. Comes with a foldable windscreen just to top it off. Puts out great heat and boils fast. Everything I was looking for.

An excellent stove for gourmet cooking or groups. Excellent simmer control and a relatively wide burner pattern make hot spots and burning a thing of the past. Haven't tried with inverted canister yet but the stand and design features for such look functional. Boils water in steel pot (msr alpine 2) almost as fast as a Jetboil. System is study and capable to handle heavy multiple pot meals as well as most systems with better results and a lot less hassle.

This is a great product. Works well. 4.5 stars. But I don't like the aluminum wind screen and heat shield they provide with it. Very cheap; wont' last. I purchased a different wind screen that folds up. I would have also liked if they provided some container to store it to avoid damaging the stove when it's in the pack. It's lights easy. I'm going to take it on a canoe trip to the boundary waters canoe area.

Only gave it four stars because it does not come equipped with an igniter; need to bring a lighter or produce your own spark. Camping in Southern California so I don't really need the stand to invert the fuel canister, but it's a neat feature if I go to elevation or someplace really cold. Windscreen also keeps the canister from freezing. Would recommend to backpackers and hikers.

This is a great remote camp stove, I used it both regular and inverted in super cold weather (2 degrees)... with the included heat shielding, this thing rocked to melt snow, cook and of course... keep me in hot coffee. It packs easy in the included stuff sack and has no assembly items necessary... I tossed the inverted stand.

Just spent a week in the Boundary Waters with this stove and it worked beautifully. It's compact and lightweight, but the wide burner distributes heat quickly and evenly. Don't worry about getting the MSR fuel; there are many brands with the same fuel mixture and fitting and they all work just fine.

This is a great cookstove. It can simmer slowly or boil water in about 4 minutes. Thats cold water. The adjusting flame is very percise and easily controlled. Don't burn it. Cook it right. I haven't been able to use this stove in altitude yet, but i will soon. I'll let you know how that goes.
