I did a lot of research and was after a laptop that would be my ultimate developer/support platform. Was a little bit more than I wanted to spend, but I do not regret spending the extra at all.I was not after a gaming laptop in particular, I wanted a reasonably lightweight laptop that had could run multiple VM's, heavyweight developer and graphic tools and when the mood takes me, maybe the odd game or two without taking the skin off my legs.I was torn between a few options with this being the second most expensive, but seemed to meet everything performance wise I wanted. As you do, I finally bit the bullet and clicked "buy". Instantly the buyers remorse kicks in, "how can I justify spending this much","do I really need it", "surely my old laptop wasn't that bad and I can make do".Day of arrival:Waiting patiently(on a Saturday), knowing the delivery could be anytime that day. Still thinking, this laptop cannot live up to my expectations of it and still having the buyers remorse.Courier turns up with a huge box. Normally buying a laptop out of retailers you end up with a tiny box, but this was huge. Worryingly though the box showed signs of damage. I asked the courier to stay whilst I opened it, before signing. In the huge box was an extremely well protected inner brown box that thankfully was immaculate and bore the msi logo and model number etc. Signed and took it inside. Opened this box, and again inside it was an extremely well packaged/protected black and red msi box. To say this was the best looking laptop packaging I had ever seen would be an understatement.Buyers remorse has now totally left the building.I could not wait to open it. I did so of course, carefully so as not to damage the box, and was greeted with again one of the best packaging/protection jobs. When I finally got it out of all the protection, it certainly had the wow factor in looks. Stylish, light, sleek, and nicely understated.Got it setup on its Win 8.1 Home OS.Everything works perfectly, but being an IT person I want to upgrade it to Windows 10 PRO.This caused me some issues. It took the fourth attempt to upgrade it to get everything working and this is where this laptop is not for the in-experienced.I would class this laptop as a "Thoroughbred", it is high performance, but needs experience and patience to tame with upgrades. You cannot rely on automatic updates to get the best drivers, and in some cases you need to uninstall old drivers before installing new ones as they will not upgrade cleanly.*** Note - If you upgrade to Win 10 then downloading the newer killer wireless drivers is a must. Otherwise you will experience random problems with accessing websites over wireless (I could not get onto google but other sites were fine) ***Performance is outstanding. Boot time is a few seconds, high end applications and games load ultra fast, graphics are beautiful, does not get too hot, screen is crisp, keyboard is a pleasure to use, etc, etc. Worth mentioning - I have not yet maxed this out on cpu/memory/disk I/O and I run MySQL, SQL Server, Visual Studio, NetBeans, multiple VM's etc. However the trackpad takes a bit of getting used to. It is incredibly sensitive, and sometimes the multi-touch is a bit too sensitive. I have accidentally dragged an dropped files a few times.Lets be brutally honest, the battery life is terrible, but you don't buy a laptop like this and expect a great battery life. Realistically it is a gaming desktop replacement that is portable. Tops you will get 3 hours out of the battery if you crank the performance down and are doing light usage. So, would I recommend this?If you understand what you are buying, then yes without a hesitation of a doubt.I love it, and it is pleasure to use and it was worth every penny. The only reason it gets four stars, is the battery life and its "thoroughbred" nature.

Excellent laptop. This is the 4k screen version. Which I think normally sells for more.I7 & 970m GtxAlso has a 128gb ssd as well as 1tb hdd.Gaming at 4k is not impossible, but reduce the red to 1080 and it's perfect. Screen is glossy, which creates reflections.Battery will not last long, maybe 3 hours on web. You can scale back the performance to give you a little more.Recommended at this price. I see that the last gen 1080p with 870m sells at the same price on amazon at the moment, so this is a bargain.

It is 4K / 970M. 16GB RAM & 1tb HD / 128GB SSD Hybrid.I've also confirmed it can output at 75hz over HDMI (should you desire to use it with a DK2).Build quality seems great. It comes with a nice laptop sleeve to protect it on your travels as well.

Brilliant, handles all new games at full or near full graphics. It's slim, light, made of great material and looks awesome. Very happy. Paid for next day delivery and got it less than 24 hours later.
