If you're planning on purchasing this product, be aware you will need to have 12x AAA at the ready as each mill requires 6, and they are not included.Inserting the batteries and filling the units up with rock salt and peppercorns was very simple; the handle twists off, exposing the battery inserts, this part pulls off to gain access to the container. The mill set overall has a nice sleek design and are shaped in a way that makes them comfortable to handle. They are made from plastic, but that's not an issue for me.To operate, you simply press and hold the end button, which also activates an LED light. At first I thought the LED may be a bit of a gimmick, however it's actually quite useful, especially if you're sitting in a position that casts a shadow on your food. You can adjust the fineness of the salt and pepper, though I would recommend holding the container as there's a chance you may accidentally pop off the base, which is annoying. All in all though, a decent mill set that requires little to no effort.

We've been using rechargeable electric salt and pepper shakers for a while now ; as we like our pepper especially freshly ground and use a lot of it in cooking and at the table, it has been great. However the ones we used to have suffered corrosion - especially on the salt - due to brushed steel finish. The cheery red looks nice on a wooden table and shows the content well. They are well weighted but not as sturdy as the metal ones I've also got. These from M.R. are seem mechanically as good as the ones we used to have, easier to clean and with the red plastic finish should survive the salt and humidity of an active kitchen better than the last lot. I'm not sure what they mean by steel - presumably the mechanical components inside. They work fine on rechargeable batteries that I insist on for almost all our household electronics so I didn't use the cheap AAA supplied. If you are giving these as a gift, do your recipient a favour and buy them a dozen AAA rechargeables to go with it.

I have to be honest, I have always wanted one of these bad boys, and I was sooooo excited to receive them! They're in red, to match my food processor, and are packaged in a neat little box. Anyway, they're not marked as salt and pepper, so you can use either. The instructions are easy to follow when it comes to popping the batteries in. Which is exactly the problem - it's not hard to pop them in, it's how many you need. Six. Per pot. Whaaaat?!!! So, that's twelve batteries you need. So do bear that in mind. Anyway, once it's done, and the salt and pepper is in, it's really easy to use, you just press the lid down and the light (yes, that's right, a light) comes on to help you precisely grind your condiments.I think it does a great job and it saves my arms a little bit of work. And it certainly grinds those peppercorns! I like it, but the amount of batteries... I'm not made of money! Don't mind me...

I have never owned a pair of electrically-operated salt / pepper mills before, and having acquired this Morphy Richards model, I am cautiously imoressed. Although the red plastic shells are somewaht garish, and don't seem particularly sturdy, the grinding mechanism works efficiently well, smoothly, and produces a reasonably small-to-medium sized ground grain. They're very easy to set up.The one possible minus, as far as I can see, is the fact that each grinder takes six AAA batteries, which, depending on how long they'll last, may prove to be somewaht expensive over time.

These mills are phenomenal! They look SO chic with my other cream/chrome kitchen accessories. They are so easy to use - just gently press the head of each mill - very convenient, as you can operate one-handed whilst continuing to stir as you cook. I bought a wooden mill stand separately, which they sit in perfectly on my wooden kitchen top. It should be noted that each mill takes 6 AA batteries, which you must buy separately. I absolutely LOVE these mills! Also, you can regulate the coarseness of the salt and pepper with a simple twist of the base. Brilliant! :-)

Great fun. These are bright, contemporary, and well-designed. They are intuitive to refill and maintain, and my kids loved the gimmick of the LED light on your food. Nice present for a youngster setting up a 1st kitchen, or a wedding present. Really enjoyed these, and they reinforced the good reputation of the brand.

I have had several salt and pepper pots over the years and none if them have came anywhere near as good as these.I suffer with arthritis in my hands these are so easy to use. They look good in my new kitchen too.Good value for money for such a top quality product.

Didn't realise how many batteries were needed, so had to order some. Though the batteries should last for ages. But now am pleased with these and they match my new kitchen perfectly. Easy to use and love the small light on them.

Very good, happy with my purchase. Was fed up of getting stainless steel ones coz they seemed to go horrible or the coated colour would peel. So opted for plastic ones not expecting too much from them but these work very well.

In a lot of ways there's nothing wrong with this mill set - they look nice and they do the job well, albeit a bit noisily. The reason for four stars is this: each mill requires SIX AAA batteries!

Absolutely love the set. Very easy to use. Unfortunately the batteries are dying to quickly, so I suggested use rechargeable one. Part from that I think it's absolutely great.

Fits nicely with the rest of our kitchen utensils. Doesn’t hold a powerful amount of salt and pepper, but looks great! Excellent quality grinder and it lights up!!

I like the fact they are electric with push of button so they are easier to use for my husband who has difficulty using the twister ones.

Excellent value for money, holds more volume of salt and peppercorns than my previous model, and the colour was perfect for our kitchen.

Salt and Pepper grinder with light so can see how much has been used. Does require 6 AAA batteries in each one though
