Really pleased with this kettle. It's really light weight, which a lot of people will find handy (my last kettle was very heavy, though it held 1.7 litres so when full it would be difficult for maybe an old or infirm person). Personally though 1.5 litres is a much better size for my household. I love the styling of it also, its very sleek looking and comes in a number of colours. As any new kettle you need to get rid of any bad taste because they are coated and chemicals or dust etc can leach into the water so they need a thorough clean. In order to do this effectively I always rinse out first with mild washing up liquid (to be clear I do NOT immerse the kettle in water, i just fill half way with water, add one drop of washing up liquid and slosh around and then rinse out 3 or 4 times) - I then fill to max and bring to boil and once boiled I add 2 tablespoons of bicarb of soda and leave that to sit overnight. Then in morning I empty and swill out a few times and then refill and bring to boil again, and do this maybe another 2 to 3 times to get rid if all the bicarb. If this doesn't get rid of any weird taste then just repeat, or in addition you can boil with a mixture of water and white vinegar. So that covers any weird taste you might get. UPDATED just to say that I'm not saying the kettle had a weird taste, but most new kettles do so i do this as a matter of course with any new kettle and in this instance after rinsing the bicarb out and then boiling once to get rid of bicarb, then I emptied and refilled /boiled and tasted then and water tasted fine whereas I've had kettles before that I've had to do the bicarb treatment twice and do a vinegar treatment as well before it's drinkable. So in that respect this kettle is good ... update finished! So onto the workings of the kettle. I found the button for the lid a little stiff but no real complaints, it boiled quickly, its not that quiet but no worse than most kettles (and its not advertised as a quiet boil kettle anyway), it's really easy to see the water level indicator and has a 360' cordless base. All in all it does what it should, looks very nice, sleek and it doesn't look cheap and being plastic the top edge isn't going to chip away like those pretty coloured die cast or enamel kettles which all do this over time from opening and closing the lid. I've also bought Morphy Richards products before and never had an issue or any problems with them.Great price also. Would definitely buy and would recommend it.

I couldn’t be happier with my new kettle, which I bought in black after my previous kettle failed (& I couldn’t get the screws out of the plug to check the fuse!) I don’t need a large kettle & usually only make one drink at a time. This arrived in its original packaging & I was delighted to see that Amazon had just stuck the address label on it - not repackaged it into another box & loads of extra packing materials as they have been doing in the recent past. So that’s brilliant - one more step towards carbon neutrality - well done Amazon! So I opened the box & found the kettle to be simply packaged in cardboard with no silly wire ties, polystyrene or unnecessary plastic. Hurray!I removed the kettle in a few seconds, then pressed the button to release the lid & it popped up perfectly. I realised immediately that it’s much, much lighter than my previous kettle which is wonderful as I find my wrists can be weak & painful sometimes & a heavy kettle doesn’t help! I ran a few inches of water from the tap so it was about half full, plugged it in & pressed the on switch. I like that only the on/off switch itself lights up rather than being ridiculously bright as my last two kettles have been. It boiled the water extremely quickly & fairly quietly - it’s not silent, I judge it by whether I need to turn up the volume on my radio, which I had to do to maximum volume for my last kettle! This one got a little noisier for just a few seconds & then boiled. I also like that it doesn’t boil for very long before it switches off. It also pours perfectly. Since then I just boil a couple of cups’ worth of water & it’s light, quick, fairly quiet & pours. There was also no odour or taste from the very first cup. I tried it by making tea with the very first boil & there was nothing, which was excellent.I’m thrilled with my kettle - & the purchasing experience - it was even better than I hoped for, good value for money & it looks great. It stays shiny without having to wipe it. Morphy Richards have certainly earned my brand loyalty & I’ll be sticking with them for other products too. Highly recommended!

This Morphy Richards Dune 1.5 litre jug kettle is pleasing on the eye as it is on the pocket as it is very reasonably priced. But don’t think it’s a budget priced kettle, on the contrary, it looks well made and functions very well too. It has a rapid boil thanks to its 3kw hidden element, a hinged lid, with an easy to press button on the handle for opening. The jug is easy to fill and holds from one cup to six, up to 1.5 litres, enough for most households. It sits on a matching white swivel base, where the lead fits inside to tidy any extra lead off the work surface. The jug has a lined designed like a sand dune on it’s exterior, hence it’s name, and a smart silver trim on the base and on the handle. The on/off switch is a clear one with a led light built in, so easily seen in a dull light, it’s positioned at the base of the handle. It pours very well, no drips, and is reasonably quiet when it boils water. The filter is made of plastic with holes in, a much better idea than the usual mesh kind that fall apart after a while. This one is easy to clean. The kettle is made of plastic with a metal base inside, I found the water tasted normal, but then my previous kettle is also plastic, I prefer plastic as it’s lightweight to pick up and looks good in white. All in all it’s a stylish kettle but I’ve given it four stars rather than five as there isn’t a light inside the kettle and the water window isn’t so easy to see the amount inside. Having said that, I think I’d soon get used to it, so it doesn’t stop me recommending it, it’s a lovely kettle at a great price. I’ve added some photos so you can see the kettle inside and out, I hope that’s helpful to you.

I chose this kettle because it matched our kitchen colour scheme, and there were few other options in this colour. The overall appearance of the kettle is nice, and I love the colour. It is quieter than a lot of other kettles as it boils. I would fault a couple of points though. Firstly, the switch to turn the kettle on should be a bit thicker and stronger. And secondly, the limescale filter is made from quite a thick plastic with only a few perforations; as a result, it only lets water through at a relatively slow rate, so that when you pour boiling water out, it starts coming through the lid rather than the spout. This doesn't affect functionality too much, but is an extraordinary oversight for a company that has many years' experience of making kettles... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I bought this kettle after researching for a good functional kettle that also looked smart. Having now had it for over 3 months, I am pleased to say that it’s living up to all expectations so far. It quickly boils the minimum water needed to fill my mug, a particular requirement for me, but is equally efficient if I need a full 1.5 litres. I was a little worried that it might gradually lose its pristine white appearance but it still looks as good as new. I also really like the filter, a solidly built one rather than the usual mesh that quickly becomes brittle. I live in a hard water area and find that a quick rinse of the filter every few weeks is sufficient to keep it clear. Very pleased with it.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We bought this kettle and matching toaster as they were competitively priced and we particularly liked the colour. We have been using this kettle for about 2 weeks. It boils quickly, the noise level is “average”, if you overtilt the kettle (as others have mentioned) it does dribble slightly from the lid, but you quickly how to avoid this. Our previous kettle used to splash water from the spout as it was poured. This design is much better and pours without a drop being split. I would prefer a water indicator that is not obstructed by the handle, it would be much better on the side of the kettle.Overall I would recommend this product. The best kettle I have ever used, superb attention to detail, the handle is particularly impressive, it feels chunky and comfortable in the hand, yet still very lightweight!Overall, I'd say this has been really well researched, it's very very lightweight, and anyone with difficulty with arthritis will find this kettle very easy to use! It boils very quickly, it's neat and tidy, looks great on the kitchen counter!Even though it's made of plastic and very light it feels like it will last, I don't think it will take too much rough handling though, but if you look after this kettle I'm sure it will last a very long time! This morning when I boiled the kettle and started to pour into cafetiere there was water everywhere. I went and checked where boled and the base and around it there was water too.i . There was still some water in so put kettle on a piece of kitchen roll in a tray.. The paper also became wet. It may be leaking from where the'window for the water guage is? but seemed to be coming from underneath. It is therefore unusable. Very dissappointigas colour and weight just what I was looking for. I would therefore want to return and get a refund please as has 12 month guarantee . Regards Ann Abbott

I live in a hard water area. I have worn out that many kettles due to the lime etc, but the last kettle i had was all metal and most drinks tasted chemical, and were badly stained with lime. This is all plastic, no bad taste at all.No lime staining on the outside of the kettle as it doesn't get as hot like full metal.Boils fast and is very quiet. The only grumble is the fill level is under the handle so it's hard to see, which isn't that much of a problem. Its a cheap kettle, and i bought when price had dipped, so i am more than happy.

This lightweight white plastic kettle looks nice, with a series of grooves in the surface which give it an elegant look. The top handle switch is to open the lid. The lower switch turns it on and this lights up with a bright white glow when the kettle is working. There is a good big viewport all down the side so you can see how much water is in the kettle. The element takes up the whole bottom of the kettle and is very efficient and quick.I was surprised at the quality of this kettle considering the low price and plastic construction.

Kettle looks fab in the kitchen, it has an average boil time compared with other kettles I have owned and it is nice & quiet when in use. There is a button to release the lid but the lid does stick slightly, it's not a big deal but if it was for an elderly person it may be awkward. I do find the capacity a little small if we have visitors, on the whole this isn't a problem but if you are a larger family it's worth considering. Overall not a bad product best feature is how it looks

I love my new kettle. The colour is a beautiful pastel green that goes with everything. The design is perfect. The handle on the side makes pouring easy and it boils fast. I don’t need to wait long for my cuppa! The lid lifts easily using the button and the water gauge is very handy so you boil just the right amount. I hope my kettle lasts forever but if it doesn’t I will buy another one exactly the same. I just hope Morphy Richards keep making them. Thank you. I love it.

It's a kettle. It boils nice and quickly, the thing is quite light and easy to hold with both hands (for those with grip issues etc). The only downside is the level window is behind the handle and isn't wide enough to easily see at a glance. I never realised how much this would irritate me, funnily enough my wife mentioned the exact same thing the other day. While it does its job I'll not buy the same model again (and I'll be watching out for that design 'feature' in future)

This is the second one of these kettles I have purchased being really happy with the speed of the first one. More defined cup quantity marks on the window could be a benefit I just count how many of the decorative rings I have filled up to as my guide. This second kettle has a white plug and lead which is blends in really well with the white kettle, the first one had black plug and lead glad to see it’s been thought about.
