This is my first Filter Kettle. I've previously had a very expensive Reverse Osmosis system which in the past has been the only thing that seemed to reduce Limescale. I live in a Medium Hardwater area but hated the scum in drinks which seem to be worse when you drink 'black tea and coffee'. Alas the old filter broke and being so expensive I thought I would see what else was around. I had tried a water filter last year and it didn't work in reducing the Limescale. I researched it quite a bit and was very suprised that Brita were claiming that the it does well on reducing Limescale but the alternatives were so expensive I decided to try ............and I am really pleased I did. This kettle works in my area (United Utililites) and gets rid of that dreaded scum. The filter has worked as predicted for 4 weeks. It had only just started to get weaker just as the indicator light suggested and it was 4 weeks. I looked at the reviews and plumped for the Morphy Richards because it had the best weight just 1.2kg for the volume of water 1.5litre ratio. The kettle I am pleased with. It's quieter than the kettle I was replacing. Overall I am delighted and MY ONLY comment or warning to others is that non of the reviews I read commented on the 'Hopper' or the bit you can fill and needs to filter through to the kettle. This one is only 400ML max or just over a nice big mug and that takes about a minute to go through. It's not caused me a problem - you get into a pattern on what to do. I've got into a pattern of having 2 mugs in the day and then topping up - 2 mugs and top up. I'm therefore not sure how practicular these are for a family and I would imagine that either the Brita Optimax Filter Unit on the table top next to ordinary kettle would be better or the One Cup Hot Water Dispensers as they have a bigger reserve water capacity. What ever you buy check out the size of the 'hopper' the bit you can fill before it passes through the filter as that is important. One really good feature of this kettle is that even though the kettle has just boiled you can lift the lid and refill the hopper - I was amazed no burnt fingers - very safe. Really pleased more a 4.5 than 4 but the 'hopper' bit is a bit time consuming to refill.

Good points: the filter works well - visibly clearer cup of tea, fresher (but perhaps more neutral) taste, no scum. Once you get used to the hopper, it's straightforward enough to use.Caveats: as other reviewers have cited, capacity of the hopper is small - it says "2 cups", but that equates to one medium-sized mug. If there's more than one of you to cater for at a time, you'll need to refill the hopper twice or more to get a full kettle of water or keep topping it up between boils to filter the water in advance of when you need it. If I'm boiling water for cooking, I take the hopper out and fill the whole kettle without using the filter. The filter indicator doesn't work (or I haven't got it to function at all; it's very hard to see the markings and they don't light up),so you have to guess when the filter needs replacing. Water level markings inside the hopper are very hard to see too (tiny mark on clear plastic in an awkward place); basically just fill the hopper to about 1 cm below the top, because you can't see the mark. After it's boiled and clicked off, it makes an electrical twitching noise. Don't know what this is.

The Brita filter kettle performs well at filtering water aslong as you can forgive some of its shortcomings. The kettle is sleek, compact and well designed with a convenient cable tidy built into the base. The switch is located under the handle and the lid is opened manually by a recessed pull handle. The brita filters last approx 6 weeks after which you can notice a pronounced change in the quality of water and limescale reside if left unchanged. The chamber of the kettle does take a while to fill as you can only fit around 500ml in the filter chamber to filter into the kettle and it takes roughly 90 seconds to fully drain, this is fine if you are only making two mugs of tea at a time but if you need to fill the kettle I can imagine it becoming somewhat tedious. I have owned two of these in 3 years as after 18 months of heavy use (5-10 times a day) the kettle did begin to suffer aesthetically with the colour on the spout and contact points fading and the lid beginning to wobble. Overall the kettle performs well; it boils quickly, suitably filters water and is tidy and modern looking.

Purchased after using an earlier model for at least four years (the lid started popping up by itself whilst boiling). This one looks great has a good capacity for hot drinks and filling saucepans etc. Haven't really noticed a difference with the new Maxtra+ filters as you don't need to wait for the water to filter through before you start boiling. The outside gets water spots on fairly easily (we have very hard water) but these are simply wiped off with a cloth. The spout can be a bit sloppy if you pour it too quickly, but this is usually only a problem if it's full to the brim. The lid seems much better than the last one and has a pull-up action rather than a button release. As a result the lid feels very secure and I do not worry about it popping open whilst boiling or pouring. The indicator tells you when to replace the filter and on my last Morphy Richards kettle this lasted for many years. It is still necessary to descale but maybe only once a year.Overall an excellent kettle which, in a hard water area, lasts a lot longer than the average non-filter kettle.

First off, as I selected ‘kettle and 6 filters’ I expected to receive a box of 6 filters as shown in the item images. I didn’t, I received 3. The seller needs to look into that.In regards to the kettle, it feels lightweight and maybe a little flimsy but that may be because my previous kettle was metal. It is quite loud but boils quickly and I appreciate the capacity as I drink 500ml mugs of tea! The water seems to filter slower than in my previous kettle which is odd!The water in my area is soft, but frequently has a very chemically taste to it. The water board deny it. It isn’t constant so I can’t say if the filter had resolved this but it makes a nice cuppa!

We bought this as a replacement for the older version as we fancied a new kettle but still filter. We are very pleased, we had no issues with the older version and this seems just as good. It looks very stylish. It seems to filter a little slower than the older one but not an issue. The water area is smaller so feels like you need to fill it up more times but again not a major issue, still usable. There is no light on the main kettle when boiling but there is a light on the switch and you can obviously hear it boiling.Overall, great kettle, very happy

Great kettle-honestly, better tasting tea without any of the hard water scaly but on top of the tea! It’s an easy set up and description is correct in that i’ve not had to descale this kettle at all in the two months we’ve had it so far. Only nag is that it is only about two cups of tea fill up at a time and I’m always a little cautious not to overfill the Brita filter part as I don’t want any of the water to go down the side gaps without being filtered. But I can live with this as it’s tea and other hot drinks taste better.

Bought this as we live in a very hard water area (our previous kettle needed descaling every week).Have had this kettle for six months now and still not had to descale it.The only disadvantage is that the filters are not cheap and given the fact that they only last for a month it can work out quite expensive, if you buy them from Amazon a pack of three comes to you at approximately £13.00 plus delivery if you are not a prime member, which works out at around £50.00 a year OUCH!!!!!

Always buy these kettles. They are the only kettles that I can use due to how hard the water us in my area. Other kettles just don't last and before I started buying the Brita kettles, I was getting through two kettles a year even with dealing etc. These still need to be descaled (in my area anyway), but far less often and my last kettle lasted almost 3 years. In softer water areas, they would no doubt last a lot longer.

We have a lot of hard water in our area so our existing kettle used to be full of limes ale (even though I cleaned it once a week) a friend told me about this kettle and since getting it no more limescale issues. We have a little toddler too and it means he can drink the water from the kettle and avoid drinking the hard water from the tap. A cartridge lasts a month so it is not that costly to keep it running.

Didn't know I needed this until I went to my friends house and realised theses were such a thing, I moved into an area where the water needs to be filtered so being a family of 5 this has saved having to fill a jug up numerous times during the day. It's also a very good kettle followed the instructions boiled once emptied then was ready to use bingo a decent cup of tea

I nearly didn't buy this because of the reviews that said the lid was unstable and kept coming open. I certainly have not found this to be the case. I love filtered water in my tea and coffee and this kettle does just that.

I brought this as we seem to have an issue with limescale, nice to get a cup of tea without the scummy water, does take a while to get a full kettle due to the filtration but a small price to pay for nice water

We have had this make of kettle for 6 yrs and the only reason we had to replace was because I dropped it.Best kettle we have ever had and lovely filtered water

9.8.2018

This kettle is easy to use the only problem is it is a little difficult to open the lid but apart from that its great to have filtered tea that tastes great.
