Ok, So I was strongarmed into getting this by my 6 year old who is a huge MH fan. She saw a certain video on YT that reviewed it and I have known her want a toy so badly. I wasn't disappointed. There are some 'cons' but overall, it's a nifty bit of kit that I feel should have been way more expensive.PROS:It's sturdy and very well made. The unit itself comes with all the attachments needed and *includes* the required 6 - yes, 6 AA batteries. They were DuraCell too which I found impressive.It comes with three blank dolls, including three customisable dresses, and three pairs of shoes. There is also two vinyl (hard plastic) wigs and one 'hair' wig. There is a Melamine Foam eraser that comes with it,so you can wipe off the designs easily, so there's LOADS of replay value in each doll.The dolls look great, and It gets children involved with how design and tech are related, and lets them use their imaginations.CONS:There are some. Firstly, You need to understand that you ABSOLUTELY require the Monster Maker App from either the App Store or Google Play. It WILL NOT WORK ON MOBILE PHONES so you will need a tablet. There are specifications so please make sure you have a compatible device. If you don't have that, then this will not work. Now, there are downloads for PC and MAC too, but the MH website yeilded nothing but a 'PAGE NOT FOUND' error. I was able to use some Google-Fu to find it, but it really was a hassle. As far as I know, this hasn't officially been released in the UK, so there doesn't seem to be direct Mattel support.So, Continuing with the CONS..We used the iPad app, which uses the Bluetooth connection to 'communicate' with the printer. This was sketchy at best, and it kept crashing and losing connection. It's especially frustrating when the printer is halfway through a design because there is no way to continue after the connection is re-established. This is why we changed to the PC. It connects with a printer cable and once we'd done that, It worked brilliantly.As with all MH and EAH dolls, the jointing in the limbs is easily loosened in play. The constant putting them back together does rub the desgns off a while. We found this was OK though as it promotes re-using the printer.The dresses can only be customised once. The pens do not wash off fabrics. Might be worth using washable felts if you think youd like to reuse them (although regular MH clothes WILL fit)The biggest problem, is that it does EAT batteries. We noticed the meter on halfway after just one doll. It did manage to get to all three, but that was it. We got into the habit of switching it off in between each creation to save battery life.Not so much a CON, but before first run, make sure you just start the ink flowing from the pens by gently running them over a piece of paper, and calibrate the machine too (it will instruct you to do it - don't skip it!)Overall, this is probably the best toy I have bought for my daughter in all of her 6 yrs. It's absorbing, and makes for fun times together. If your child is over 8, then they will have no problem operating it themselves however, I needed to help her with the adapters and sockets as they are very tricky to fix in right. Once the 'Body Part' was in the machine, she was able to change the pens herself and see her own designs come to life. She is absolutely delighted with it. However, as I highlighted above, there is needed some adult involvement, and the required software to design and print. I am more than happy with it for the price. A must for all MH fans out there.

I am not entirely sure why the other person gave this Monster High Monster maker a 1 star review. Maybe it's because they have not read the instructions correctly or seen the videos on YouTube of how to use it. My daughter a massive Monster High fan was one of the first kids to have the toy in the UK because my wife and I had the printer shipped in from the USA when it was first released in October 2014 and from day one the printer has blown us away with how well it works and the sheer detail that it will print onto the body parts of the dolls. My daughter has been creating new Monster High Monster maker dolls on a weekly basis and continues to do so without any problems what so every.The biggest thing you have to be careful with is the pens themselves make sure you store them as directed in the instruction manual otherwise they will dry out and stop working.

I paid £27 for this and at that price it's a bargain! The software works really rather well and has support for Android, IOS, PC & Mac. Tried it on a Mac and a Tesco Hudl 2 and it worked fine. It's a pretty simple drag 'n drop job to place eyes, mouth etc onto the appropriate body parts.Once your doll design is complete it's time to print. This takes a while. The mechanism is plastic and quite slow, but then it is only a toy. The end result obviously isn't as good as the factory printed dolls. The colours are a bit transparent but you can make the machine go over them again. But it's good enough for a perfectly satisfied child.I have one worry with this toy and that's the availability of spare markers.They are available on eBay from US based sellers but the postage to the UK is pretty stiff.

My 6 yr old has been watching reviews of this on You tube for ages so as a school holiday reward we purchased the Monster Maker to say well done! I have to say I had my doubts that it would be as good as it looks but Inhold my hands up its amazing! After been shown once what to do my daughter is a whizz on it! It's so simple to set up and we haven't had any issues with Bluetooth and were using a Hudl 2. The quality of the print is very good and haven't had any smudges,nice selection of clothes,wigs and shoes too. Comes with 3 dolls which can be re used once the design has been removed and 3 stands. I can't wait to have a play myself! We managed to get it at a reduced price of £29.99 but I'd be happy paying up to £50 as the product is so good!Needless to say my daughter is over the moon!

Quite simply THE best present my daughter received for her 6th birthday. Her words, not mine. This isn't something I've seen anywhere else and so I think it is quite innovative. My daughter and her friends were amazed by it all. Sometimes can be a bit tricky to get going - the app cut off communication from the printer (or vice versa) a couple of times. However, the hours of play gained from this, and the quality of the printing absolutely outweighs any small technical blips along the way. If you're thinking about getting this for your Monsters High enthusiast, then do not delay. Worth every penny.

Bought as a Christmas present for my granddaughter so can't comment on how it actually works which is why not given 5 stars. What I will say is that after opening to check it, I was impressed at the quality of it. Easy instructions and app looks good too, hope it works as good as it looks. If it does I think I'm going to have a very happy granddaughter Christmas Day. Very easy transaction and arrived when it was supposed to. Great price too.

got this for my daughters 8th birthday,she was thrilled and said it's the best present ever!straight forward instructions,easy to set up and connect to my computer.it is intended for the I-Pad but works perfectly well on my computer,download was quick and easy and just needed the printer cable to connect to it.my daughter has had great fun with it and i can see it being a favourite for a long time.great price,quick delivery.

Brilliant. My 6 year old loves it but does require help from me which is great because it's so much fun. The app on an android tablet wasn't that great and kept freezing, so we've used the PC version with no problems. It's amazing how this machine works and the results are pretty good, though will never be as perfectly printed as the proper monster high doll faces. Hope we can get replacement pens when these dry out.

Have to say I had my doubts, but quite amazing bit of kit.Only gripe really was holding a stable Bluetooth connection with both an iOS and android device, so I cabled it to my iMac for my 7 year old daughter and, thankfully no issues at all. She loves it, the tiny details it can produce are cool. Recommend it for MH fans, but would definitely use a cable to connect. ?

For the money I think this is an absolute bargain. 9yr old daughter loves it.I saw a review that says Bluetooth didn't work too well, but currently and we have only had it working for two days (Easter bunny present), Bluetooth from an Ipad with the relevant app has worked very well.Had to make sure the pens ink was running, but other than that its been brilliant.

Bought this for my son - a huge Monster High fan - and he loves designing the dolls and then seeing them being printed. A clever bit of kit which works really well. I'm really impressed with the accuracy and printing results - much better than I anticipated. Shame there are no boy dolls for it though to make it more unisex.

Not yet been used as it is for a Christmas present however it looks good quality and it will give hours of fun for any Monster High fan. Delivered before estimated date and I was kept up to date with the delivery process. Happy customer ☺.

The gift hasn't been opened yet as its a Christmas present but I was disappointed by the box looking particularly scruffy and tired. Not like I'd picked it off a shelf. Thrown around a bit. Would just like to of given a good looking gift.

A fab gift for my seven ur old. Sadly she damaged one of the pens using it separately when I wasn't around to supervise, so it then renders it useless. Will try getting a replacement set. Otherwise when working it was great fun

This is a really brilliant item! It comes with so many accessories and the 3D printing is amazing. You just download the app and design your very own monster high doll! A brilliant toy for any child, young or old.
