Frankie herself is a lot cuter in person than in the (admittedly never accurate) promo photos. She's my first Frankie Stein doll, and I wasn't sure about her at first, as she seemed a little 'vampy' (and not in the bloodsucking way) in the promo photos; very mature-looking without her usual fringe and plaid apparel. She also seemed oddly blue, like a strange mix of Ghoulia and Lagoona and not at all in keeping with Frankie's trademark grey, white and black colour schemes. But there was no need to worry; I fell in love the second I removed her from the packaging. Her nose is adorably snubbed, and her lips are plump but not too pouty. I particularly love the lightning-bolt tattoos across her face which are a distinguishing mark from other Frankie releases, and totally match her bright yellow platform heels (which are included, don't worry if you find her barefoot, they are packaged with the base of the chamber). Her hair is super soft and lovely to stroke and brush!! It is not as yellow as it seems in the promo photos; most of her hair is a gorgeous deep electric (sorry) blue mixed with black, with only a few yellow highlights on top. The mash-up of colours is very pleasing to the eye, particularly when braided, and really is perfect for a 'freaky fusion' release. I'm not crazy about her dress; it's pretty simple, but it is also very short and tight to the point where it restricts posability. It's certainly not the look of the original wave Frankie with her schoolgirl cuteness! Her recharging chamber makes a fantastic lamp. After an initial spurt of flickering, the light turns to a gentle, undulating fade-on/fade-off mode which is not unlike a lava lamp. It's very beautiful if left on in a dark room! At first I did not like the idea that after pushing the button the lights go on for five minutes - and if you're the one buying the batteries you probably won't be happy about it! - but I must say the 5 minutes of glowing colours is ever so peaceful. The lights are admittedly a bit finicky, however - sometimes I get get them to colour change, and sometimes they seem to happily flicker on just one colour. I don't know if it's randomly generated or if I'm just doing it wrong! The main feature is naturally, though, the hair-raising, and does it work? The twenty-something year old who spent the afternoon playing with her new toy says yes - it does! The chamber is easy as pie to assemble in a few steps, as shown in the manual, and even comes with some cute but wholly unnecessary skull decorations. My only criticism of the design is how flimsy the doors are; they easily fall off the hinges, but are at least just as easily popped back. If you only want the light show, press the button on the chamber. But if you want some static electricity fun just pop Frankie into place, shut the doors on the chamber (it's coffin shaped, of course!) and hold the button down. There will be a sound like a hairdryer at maximum capacity and her hair will float upwards. It is hilarious, and immense fun if you wave your finger near, as her floating hair will be attracted to it. I will say, however - don't expect her entire head of hair to rise up, as the static is not that powerful and only really lifts the electric yellow highlights right on top of her head. It's still good for a laugh, though, and more impressive if you perform it in front of a pale surface so you can really see every strand standing to attention as though she got an electric shock! For extra giggles, pose Frankie's hands up to her face as though she's in dire, hair-raising peril! My Freaky Fusion Frankie's Recharging Chamber had me smiling all day, and will now emit its gentle glow in my bedroom this evening. The doll is also now a treasured part of my growing Monster High family and really stand out with her intense, vibrant colours and cute face. And what a great Halloween decoration she'll make in my front window this year! Top marks.

Before I start my review I just want to point out although amazons price is reasonable I did not purchase it from here as I found it cheaper elsewhere.First of all, this product was brought for myself, yes, I'm an adult collecter in my 20s who loves monster high and its concept. Yes I get strange remarks from people, why are you collecting toys? Well my answer is always the same, because they are pretty wicked. ;)I own loads of dolls but currently I only own 2 playsets, this included and the hydration station. This came to my attention after watching the freaky fusion movie (which I watch for fun!) originally I was just attracted to the Frankie doll as she looks so cool with her blue hair and lightning bolt dress and shoes!after some searching I soon found out that the doll could only be purchased with the Recharge chamber, this intrigued me and so I started looking videos up online of what it does, so apprantly it lights up different colours and makes Frankies hair stand on end, just like in the movie!! Ahhhhhhh I was so cooled out by it I just had to have it.Unfortunately this playset came heavily priced and its taken me months to find it for a price I felt was worth paying, it was orginally ranging at £34.99 up two nearly 40 and 50 pounds! It's a cool toy but those prices are crazy.Anyway just recently I managed to get it for a much more reasonable sum which I was very happy with. The recharge chamber does require some instruction following but nothing to hard though adults should set it up for children. Batteries are not included so make sure to stock up for when it arrives to you.The doll like I mentioned is so cool and a very unique look for frankie. She wears a lightning bolt dress with a silver belt, the belt is more interesting than you think, the recharge chamber comes with little charms which are attached to the bottom of the chamber for show but they can be removed and clipped onto frankies belt to add some funky cool fun to her look. They are easily removed and re-attached to the chamber as they just clip in.The chamber itself is quite a pretty accessory, it has two doors which close Frankie in with a heart design, and also a skull button to control the lights and hair static. Frankie herself attaches into the chamber, as the chamber also acts as her stand. There are two clips for her feet, one for her hips, and lastly two for her neck bolts. Once she is all clipped in the doors can be closed and the button can be pressed. There are 3 settings I think, not sure, with green, blue and white lights, which can flash, and be left on but will stop and turn off after a few minutes. To achieve the static hair you have to press and hold the button down and woow! You got static hair Frankie, very simple. There is a slight noise when doing this but nothing like the hydration station.I was slightly hesitant when purchasing this as I wasn't sure how well it would actually work, reading reviews some people claimed her hair didn't rise enough while others raved that it is amazing, I looked into this and read that you need to be in a cool environment, as humidity can stop it working, I don't know if this is true but I can personally say that it is pretty cool and her hair does rise quite a lot which is so cool to watch, though the picture on the box does exaggerate slightly. Once you let go of the button her hair slowly rises back down, also if you touch her hair it sticks to your hand.I love this playset and am so glad I got it. As a collector for me it is pure decoration, a decoration item I play with randomly just to see her hair go up. I must admit I don't see this as a children's toy, I think children could get board of this quite easily I think it's one of those toys that are more appreciated on show as a decoration. It is fun to show people it and how it works though.Would recommend.

This is a beautiful doll, and seems sturdy enough to withstand little hands playing with it, but I admit to being frustrated by the sturdy packaging. Sellotape on the outside, then the little part of the box where Frankie was packaged in was also sellotaped in, so I had to undo that and rip the box before I could get her out.Once out, I then had to use scissors very carefully to snip the plastic tags holding down her legs and her head and hair. Some of these were pulled so tight that I wondered if I'd end up cutting out her beautiful blue, black and yellow strands, but she coped. I then had to undo the rest of the packaging, as the chamber comes separately, her yellow shoes were loose in the box and there's a little plastic corner you have to snip to get the little skulls that you attach to the chamber (a nice enough feature, but not really necessary). Phew!Frankie is truly lovely, in the sense of MH freakiness. She is quite a tall doll, with pale grey/blue limbs, seems well-built and sturdy and her hands, knees and feet move around easily. The top pink attachments for the chamber slot in easily, as they're more rubbery than brittle plastic, again great, as in most cases, children will be playing with this (though not in my house, as I collect MH dolls), and the chamber itself feels well-made and sturdy.Once the 3 AA batteries have been inserted into the back of the chamber (you'll need a minuscule Philips screwdriver for this), you then sit the chamber on the black base and it's all ready. Simply place Frankie in it and anchor her in at the waist and ankles, press the black button once (there will be a hair-drier type noise) and bits of her hair go static and rises, just like those weird 80s static light/lamp things, but don't worry, as there's a brush included to straighten things up. You can even amuse yourself by moving your fingertips around her head, as the strands of hair will move towards you. I did get the strands moving enough to get tangled, but I didn't get the 'startled Pomeranian' (remember Spagna from the 80s? She of 'Call Me'?) look that appears on the website page - perhaps as my batteries had been lying around for a while? I will get new ones when these run out and update the review. Also, the chamber itself lights up with a second press of the button, and can be left on as a little lamp. It is a sturdy enough little item, and it's certainly pretty enough to take pride of place on my MH shelf. The lamp can be left on with or without Frankie in the chamber, but bear in mind that it is draining on the batteries. The only concern that I have, is that unless I've done something wrong when snipping Frankie out of the restraints, there are two little plastic end-tags that stick out from the back of her head, which did catch my fingers, though no harm was done. This would be an issue as I think these could scratch or hurt small hands. I could try cutting them back, but that would definitely entail cutting some of her hair. Oh, that and I think that had I paid the RRP for this, I'd have been miffed to then have to then also buy batteries.Overall, I love her - I think she's possibly the best value for money doll in the range so far.

First off, there is some assembly required for this playset, and it does need three AA batteries which are not supplied. Assembly is a bit fiddly but the instructions are pretty clear and we soon had it ready to go. Then we turned to the doll. She's a fairly standard Frankie Stein, but her hair is a bit different to the normal, and her shoes and neck studs are designed to fit into sockets in the recharge chamber (the neck bolts don't really stay in their holders, we found, but it works without that). As usual with these dolls, nice detail and style.Getting her into the chamber was another fiddly operation mainly around the waist and feet, but once in and the hair brushed we were ready to go.My daughter pressed the button and up went Frankie's hair. It was not quite as spectacular as the packaging suggests, but still very visibly. My daughter put her hand over it and the hair immediately moved toward her hand. I tried it myself and the odd sensation does explain her manic giggling. The light show was a bit less spectacular, cycling through several colours when the button is pushed, but still quite amusing. If left alone the light stays on one colour, shutting down after five minutes; the hair effect involves keeping the button held down, and will stop after fifteen seconds anyway. This is to prevent rapid depletion of the batteries, and as the person who has to buy the new ones I appreciated that idea.I was not sure how much playability this would have, given that it is just a lightshow and some static electricity, but my fifteen year old daughter has been back to it several times over the last couple of days, having tremendous fun with that floating hair. She also brought a friend back to play with it, which is a first with her Monster High toys; and she even insisted on sending video clips of it in action to other friends. I was really surprised, given that a plasma ball I bought a few years ago didn't get anything like this response, but apparently it's something to do with how cool the hair looks and feels. There is actually a bit of education involved too, as you can go to the MH website and learn about static electricity. I would say younger ones will probably enjoy this set even more, but they will need some help with the fiddly parts and there are some really fragile bits to both doll and chamber which could well get broken or lost if a younger child is involved. Still, I think this is a good addition to the Monster High collection and with more playability than you might think.

As with all the monster high dolls, Frankie is high quality and well made from strong materials which will withstand plenty of play. Her outfit is a very fashionable and very funky dress decorated with multi coloured lightening bolts( though her dress is a little too short!), her yellow shoes with their lightening bolt heels are a thing of beauty and her silver belt with its little multi coloured skulls ties it all together well. Her hair is poker straight with multi coloured streaks in and very long and very beautiful and very brushable, in a nutshell she is a very attractive doll. Her re-charge chamber not only causes her hair to stand on end ( it really does, I didn't think it would, but it does - don't worry about messing it up though, you get a brush in the set to sort it out when she has done in there) but also lights up with battery friendly LED lights which change colour and acts as a little lamp, switching off after 15 minutes or so to save the batteries. To stand her hair on end the button on the chamber needs to be held in, so she can safely be stored in there with her hair brushed and styled into place. We love this set in our house and have had lots of fun playing with it, and looking other things that cause static electricity too to make our hair stand on end ( sneaking in a bit of science while no one was looking !!)All in all this is a great set, which I have a sneaking suspicion will be on the Christmas wish list of many, the reason it lost a star was due to the lack of batteries, at this price I would have expected them to be included.

A nice addition to the Monster High collection of dolls and accessories. It's a pity that this chamber was created specifically for "Frankie", and cannot be used with all the other dolls in the collection. However, short lived though the fun may be, the recharge chamber does indeed make Frankie's hair stand on end. The chamber also puts on a nice light show as well. I note that Mattel/Amazon have stated that the lights in the chamber flash at 2-43 cycles per second, and I imagine this is a warning for anybody who suffers from light triggered epilepsy. I'm no expert, so I can't say whether this frequency can trigger episodes, but worth noting this. So, Frankie's hair stands on end and you get a light show. That's about it really, but obviously this toy has a greater entertainment value for it's target audience. My 5 year old loves it, and goes into fits of giggles every time the hair goes north. My 9 year old also thinks it's great, and the two of them have now begun experimenting with static on their own hair. So, it's been nearly two weeks now since this arrived and it's been played with every day. The novelty hasn't even begun to wear off yet, so maybe the longevity of this toy is greater than I thought it would be. It's a great idea because it looks good, is well made, teaches kids about the cause and effects of static electricity, and is part of a very popular range of toys. I would recommend this for any child who enjoys and collects Monster High. The novelty wore very thin with us adults after an hour or two, but my kids certainly love it.

Monster High dolls are right on trend with primary school girls just now, and everywhere that you go you can see evidence of their popularity. One of these dolls is the blue-skinned, black and gold haired Frankie Stein!Frankie comes with her very own recharge chamber, and with the aid of her friends (cue the request for further Monster High dolls) she can be saved by using it. The recharge station is reminiscent of a coffin, in shape, and it lights up during the recharging process. At the end of it, Frankie's hair stands upright in a shocking fashion. This is not a permanent change, however, and it easily loses the static charge again when no longer required. The recharge chamber requires three AA batteries, and these are not included, so please be aware of this if you are giving it as a Christmas present.Frankie is very trendy, with impossibly long legs and ridiculously high heels. She is a monster though, so I forgive her for being so unrealistic in every respect. The ludicrous proportions are undoubtedly responsible for the fact that Frankie is unable to stand unaided. She can, however, be moved into an approximation of sitting down. She clips into the recharge chamber with ease.Overall, The recharge chamber and Frankie set is likely to make any Monster HIgh fan very happy. The doll is of reasonably sturdy quality, and her limbs can be moved up to a point. The main drawback to the set, is that you really could do with more than one doll from the collection if you are to enjoy the play set at it's very best.

Monster High fashion dolls are part of the Mattel Monster High franchise that includes a variety of toys and stationery, bags, key chains, play sets, video games, TV specials, a web series, and DVDs.Frankie Stein who comes in this recharge chamber is blue-skinned and her hair is a mixture of black, electric blue and gold. Her arms and legs have joints and can be positioned to some degree. She wears fabulous lightning bolt stiletto shoes. She's not great at standing up on her own unless you spend some time positioning her, leaning against things but she is held firmly in place in her recharge chamber.I'd say something about her unrealistic body image – ultra-long legs and tiny waist, with a micro-short skirt, but when you've got blue skin this is probably the least of your worries! You need a small cross-head screwdriver to open the battery hatch and insert three AA batteries and then you can enjoy the light effects and the static charger that makes some of her hair stand on end. I imagine that if you were able to make ALL of her hair stand on end you'd probably get a static shock – but as it is you can touch her hair when it stands up and it just loses its static charge.I think you'll get enjoyment out of playing with Frankie if you've got other members of the Monster High family and some other accessories - on her own I think you'll run out of things to do.

The look on my daughter's face when I gave her the box for this was priceless! It's been her favourite toy ever since so worth every penny. The box looks amazing. It's one of those toys where the packaging is everything. Will make a fantastic Christmas present for any Monster High fan. This is the set that goes with the new film so the doll is different (if you already have a Frankie). The chamber is so well detailed and surprisingly well made. it takes batteries (sold separately 2 x AA). And there is very little setting up today. Apart from inserting the batteries my 9 year did it herself. You clip the doll inside and close the doors. Press the button and different lights flash up.Hold the button down and Frankies hair stands on end!. I have to confess I was a little surprised myself because I remember those machines at school that did that in science lessons. I thought it was dangerous. Pretty sure there is no danger with this toy though. My daughter says it works with other dolls too so I'm guessing it much just be something to do with friction and polyester hair? Anyway aside from the science that goes with this, it's a fantastic toy that will please the kids.

Dolls are just getting weird, You get an anorexic Gothic like doll made up of parts of dead women and brought back to life. Although it doesn't come close to beating Lalaloopsy Babies Diaper Surprise. My children are too young for this and there was no point keeping hold of it as I am sure the show will just be another fad. So I gave it to my niece much to the annoyance of my sister who complained (in good nature) that I was trying to upstage her Christmas presents. It was a big hit with my niece, who likes the show. It wasn't too difficult to put it all together, although they had to raid some remote controls for batteries. Then you just plonk the doll into the chamber, hit a button and a charge of electricity causes the dolls hair to stand on end with a corresponding light show to emphasise the effect. I rather thought that was great fun. Afterwards the doll looked like Bridget Jones after the ride in the open top car, but I guess that is why there is a hairbrush.A freaky toy for a freaky show and it is sure to please fans of the show.

The playset is lovely, it's full of details and feels well built. I can see the "recharging" effect being fun for play, and the chamber itself is lovely to display with Frankie inside. I have no faults with the chamber, and if that is the main reason to buy this playset, I'd recommend it with no hesitation.Frankie herself looks different and it's a lovely change - her blue hair is gorgeous and very easy to maintain, and despite being so different it suits her perfectly. My only problem with the doll herself is the lack of detail on her dress. Her shoes are lovely, but the dress itself is very simple and not exactly impressive. The fabric is lovely but there is little to no detail - without the belt it's very dissapointing.Luckily I managed to grab this set whilst it was on sale for about £26, which I think is a reasonable price for the playset. Because of the lack of detail with Frankie's dress, I wouldn't be happy to spend any more than that - and it certainly isn't worth £45!

As soon as I saw this doll I knew it was just exactly right!I am afraid that I know very little about Monster High other than hearing my twin nieces talking about it, so I thought they'd enjoy Frankie. When she came through the door and I got a look, I realised that my nine-year-olds would not be disappointed, although I'm convinced that they have grown out of "Barbie" type dolls. This was a little bit different.Whether it's her tattoos or her wildly coloured hair, I'm not too sure but she definitely has a spark of rebellion in her appearance. Not too "cutesy" but seriously attractive, she is a fun toy. The fusion chamber was also hugely popular, although it did not seem to have any effect on my twins'hair it didn't bother them much and they kept the lamp on in the bedroom all night.A truly great toy to appeal to those who don't like the more "usual" Disney figures but enjoy a little bit of fearsome coolness.A success!!

These crazy popular Monster High Dolls have been a staple toy for girls over the last few years. My 10 year old niece loves these and has a huge and expensive collection. Now coming from a parent, it's a £50 lump of blue plastic that sits in a chamber and it makes her hair stand on end using static. From a child's point of a view it's the most amazing thing since last years most amazing thing.I'm not that sure if there are similar products in the Monster High range, we bought a lot of it last year but didn't see this so i'm presuming it's not been done before. As for quality it's well made and like most toys it will take a bit of battering before it needs "dad" to fix it.The chamber needs some batteries to activate the static effects.I think this particular frankie doll can only be purchased with this set, i think there are different versions of Frankie, but this one cannot be bought alone as far as i know!

Anything to do with Monster High is like catnip to my daughter - she literally can't get enough and is the proud owner of 77 (yes, seventy-seven!) separate pieces of Monster High merchandise.I did plan on buying her this Frankie item for Christmas but as soon as it arrived I had to give it to her - I'm no cheapskate! She loves the doll itself, of course, but her eyes lit-up when she first placed it in the chamber and Frankie's hair went haywire! If your young daughter is a Monster High fan then this would be a delightful item for a present. It now sits happily with the rest of her collection.
