This is so much fun. We bought it to add to our games night selection for our 6 year old twins. The game is similar enough in format to regular monopoly that it's readying little ones for the big game in time. So, the differences are -The only money are 1 notes. So it's much easier to manage buying property and paying rent etc as they only have 1s to count up.When you land on a property, if it's free you have to buy it. There's no property cards, each player has little discs that match their playing piece, and those are what you place then on the property you own. There's no houses or hotels to buy to put on your property. There are chance cards, and they're largely good ones (a little too many good ones perhaps). They are things like 'move ahead UP TO 5 spaces' (therefore children have the possiblity and choice to avoid landing on someone else's property and paying rent), a few 'give this card to the Duck eg player and on their next go they can choose a property to buy', and quite a few 'move to a red or blue eg property and if it's available get it for free'.If you land on another players property you pay them rent which is the same price the player paid for it. If they own both properties for that colour then you have to pay them double rent. The first person to go bankrupt signals the end of the game. Then whoever has the most money is the winner. This means that the game ends a lot sooner than regular monopoly.Which, when you're playing with little ones can be a good thing! ? But of course, if you're all enjoying then you just play again. We've all had a lot of fun playing this game as a family and I'm really glad I bought it.It's very easy for children to understand the simple rules. The numbers they're dealing with, providing they can recognise numbers, are really low - at most the highest property to buy is 5, and the highest double rent to pay is 10, so as long as they can count up to ten they'll be fine, and help with reading chance cards if need be too.

Monopoly Junior Game from Hasbro is based on the famous Monopoly board game, except this time it's for young children and perfect for ages five and up. This version is virtually the same as the original Monopoly game where each player tries to 'own it all' and become the richest player on the board. It has many of the same features of the Classic Monopoly game including …• Get paid when you pass 'GO'• Go directly to JAIL• Jail and just visiting• Chance cards• Money (bank notes)• Buying properties• Collecting rentSupplied inside the box are …• A colourful game board• 4 x Tokens (cat, dog, boat and car)• 20 x Chance cards• 48 x Sold signs• Character cards• 90 x Monopoly Bank Notes in a single currency• 4 x Who's Your Token• Dice• Game guideOne noticeable difference to the adult version,is the fun and child friendly place names such as: Burger joint, pizza house, sweet shop, ice cream parlour, skate park, swimming pool, toy shop, pet shop, bowling alley, zoo, video game, museum, library and cinema. This is a fantastic game for children aged five and over, we have played this game with our two six year old nieces and they loved it … we didn't think it was bad either. The Game board and all of the items are well made and beautifully designed, the game itself remains exciting and much easier for the young player to understand. Perfect.

Bought for a 3.5 year old as a step up from Orchard Toys games which have taught using and recognising dice and turn-taking, decided to try now and put away if it transpired to be too complex. They love it! Quickly grasped the concept of buying property and enjoyed having their own money and taking the role of banker. Lots of exciting properties to buy like the zoo and ice cream parlour. Game is engaging enough that adults don't get bored and as it's over when the first player runs out of money the games aren't too long.Four chunky player pieces and easy cardboard tabs to denote property ownership. Rent doubles if you own two properties of the same colour. No building houses as in the classic version which keeps it simple.Only criticism would be the money - it is grey, only printed on one side and is only one denomination. It's a shame it is not more colourful and varied like the classic game - if children can recognise numbers to play they can deal with higher denominations. Also likely it will wear and become damaged quite quickly.Highly recommended.

I collect Monopoly/Cluedo and Scrabble sets, however, I also have played with every one in the collection as well as it can be fun playing with different sets. This is no different. A really good way to introduce the kids to an fun packed afternoon of family squables over cheating and various other nefarious activities that go on when a family gets together to play board games. This is a Monopoly game aimed at younger children (range is 5-18) but could be played by all the family; the only downside being the maximum number of players (unless you double up) is four. Gameplay is pretty much standard monopoly - with variations on the property side to make it kid friendly, it's just really simplified, however, it still passed and enjoyable hour when we played it and the kids (my grandson, his two friends that had come on a sleepover and me) had a lot of fun playing it. Well worth buying it if you've younger kids that get bored by long games of regular monopoly and you want to include them in a family games night.

What a fantastic game. This game really captures the essence of Monopoly whilst keeping it simple (and quick) enough for young children to enjoy. My 6 year old couldn't play enough Christmas (or since). The good: Game play is fast with a couple of variations for more patient players. The numbers are easy (purchase price and rents are the same, no buildings) and rent is doubled for a pair. The chance cards are generous at the beginning (lots of free properties) but become more dangerous as the game goes on.The bad: Not much. My only niggle is the quality of the paper money. It is both very thin, and very sticky. This was brought into focus by playing an old game of Totopoly which is at least 35 years old.The money from that has aged well, and still has a good feel to it.Verdict: Buy it! I nearly bought the young version of Game of Life but changed to this after reading various reviews. This game is my best Amazon purchase in a long time and we enjoyed some fantastic quality time together.

Hard to give this less than 5 stars! You like Monopoly? You have kids? They are impatient and a normal game takes FORVER?Well this is the game for you, its Monopoly but made for quick succession, this works by having only Monopoly 1s for money and the first person who goes bankrupt ends the game and the person with most money wins! Its easy to set up and has fun little character tokens and very easy for a child to understand what to do (5 year old got the grasp easy)Another one for family night and less frustrating than the normal Monopoly of landing on high priced Mayfair with a hotel attached! The only bad thing I can say about this is the storage, everything is thrown into the box with no compartments for money, cards and tokens, isnt a problem if you dont shake the box (kids eh)All in all a fun, easy, quick game that kids will enjoy!

Its a super quick game of Monopoly. My daughter went on a playdate and when I picked her up i was told they had been playing Monopoly. I thought wow, because the half day long games and the all the fighting. My daughter kept pestering me to buy it so I did for Xmas.Low and behold Junior Monopoly can be very quick. The first game I didn't even make it around the board once. Once one person runs out of money that's the end, you just count who has the most cash left, not their assets. When you land on a place you have to buy it, hence if you roll ones and twos you are likely to hold lots of property but go bankrupt quickly. This is a great version of Monopoly if you like the game but don't have much time.We now play a quick game before dinner most nights.I fully recommend this game to get your children away from their iPads.

Monopoly is one of those marmite games for some, i am in the love it category myself and will happily play for hours. This is a simple version for young kids to have their 1st ever set. I found it really easy to play, rules were easy to follow with the cards instead of hotels and houses which i quite like, easier to identify whose propertys you land on.The tokens are plastic but robust and the board is a little smaller but it makes it simpler to play. All the money is one pound which is a lot easier to use but i think that there could of been more money as we all seemed to run out really fast. I like the places on te board, its very cute and everyone was as usual arguing over which ones they wanted to land on and then throwing a mega strop when someone else got it lolA brilliant stocking filler for young ones.

My boys (4 and 7yrs) love playing board games but felt they needed something more than Snakes and Ladders. I'd never considered buying this before as I assumed even a simplified junior version would have them easily frustrated and unable to stay focussed. But having read the reviews and received a recommendation from a friend I went for it and introduced them to it on a recent wet Sunday afternoon. And they instantly loved it! They picked up the rules within the first game and remarkably, given that they are quite energetic by nature, it held their attention for most of the afternoon! The game does not go on too long and you can always make your own ways of prolonging the game if you want to.Such a great buy and a brilliant introduction to the game of Monopoly.

I brought this for my 4 year old who loves board games, and we play it as a family. It is simple, easy and quick to set up and play. If anything it finishes too quickly and I seem to keep losing! If someone becomes bankrupt (usually me) the remaining players count up their money and see who is the winner - it doesn't take into account the properties they may own which seems the only odd thing about it. I would have thought they would count too. They do if there is a draw regarding who has the most money, but it seems odd not to include them in the rule. It is colourful and a good way to get your children counting, what with the dice and money transactions. It is a quick game and quite small too.

Possibly one of the most well known board games ever, Monopoly now comes in various guises, this Junior one being especially for children from age 5 and upwards. The small pieces make it unsuitable for younger childrenThis is so bright and colourful; the four “players” are a cat, a Scottie dog, a car and a boat but it's the board I particularly like as it has so many places loved by children such as the zoo, sweet, pet and toy shops, as well as a pizza house and burger joint. The old familiar spaces are here as well – the jail, free parking . Everything is included to make buying and selling, and handling money, fun.All packaged in a sturdy, colourful box, perfect for Christmas.

I bought this as a gift for 5 year old after my son had it for Christmas (he's also 5).We've played it together a couple of times and they've done a fantastic job of simplifying an old classic for a younger audience. There are only £1 notes and the rent for each property is the same as the price to buy printed on the board, so no property cards. There are also no houses/hotels, if a player owns a full set the rent is doubled. These adjustments not only make it easy to play, but much quicker too! We average around 25 mins a game, and that's with my son's inability to keep still, so could probably be finished much faster, especially if you add more players.

I probably prefer this over real Monopoly. My 6yo daughter loves it. Game play is very familiar but simplified to allow kids to understand it. Games generally take only 10-20 minutes meaning that you can have a quick game or play many games without feeling too drained.I highly recommend this for younger kids. My daughter can play normal monopoly but she needs constant reminding about things. With this she just gets it and it helps with basic maths too. The game is also not simplified so much that we cannot have fun with it as well. We play as a family and we can be competitive but fair with each other.

I have recommended this game to several people - as a Monopoly lover I wanted to introduce my daughter to it but to be honest the full game is a long game and she was losing interest and did not really understand it. The Junior Monopoly is a fantastic introduction to Monopoly and the game can be finished in about an hour. It is designed for up to 4 players and has fewer squares than the standard Monopoly game but follows a similar format. The property squares just have an ownership rather than houses & hotels so it is significantly simpler.Great for children from ages 5-10 (and adults too!)
