Its fantastic, I bought this for my first whiskey after performing extensive research. It took a good few times before I could drink this without the burn. One thing I found which helped and I think pro's do? is take a small sip, hold it at the front of your mouth, swirl it around alittle and drink, I do this on my first few sips to help ease my taste buds into it.Tastes quite sweet and I can really taste honey. I'd definitely recommend for a good Whiskey and especially for those who want to "Start" drinking whiskey.Don't be afraid to throw an ice cube or two in there if it helps you cope with the burn, makes a huge difference.

My husband likes to try different different malts and has tried many over the years. He bought Monkey's Shoulder on a whim in the Duty Free and drank the full litre in a fortnight (normally I have to find room in the case for unfinished bottles!) because he loved it so much. It is now one of his favourites and his eyes light up whenever it is mentioned.Whisky is very much a matter of personal taste (we're no good at the note of this or that) so if I say one of my husband's other favourite repeat buys is The Macallan you will get a good idea of his taste.

Well, I don't know...I was about to start this review with some negative remark regarding its overpowering (in my opinion) sweetness. Then I remembered that the first time I tasted it in the French Alps with two mates of mine, two litres of the stuff disappeared quite quickly. I also remembered that another bottle I bought a while ago (just to persuade myself that it's not that good) has finished before some others bottles I really like.So I guess it is fair to say that this dram is very very drinkable. :-)

This is a 'vatted malt' made from three Speyside single malts (of the Grant's estate) blended together. The packaging (and name) is obviously trying to appeal to a younger drinker and get rid of the 'stuffy' view that some people have of scotch. However, this is not just about marketing - this is a very fine whisky. Beautiful subtle nose and a smooth and silky flavour.I like the unique presentation, but I also like the whisky. If you are fan of Speyside malts then I'd recommend it.

Normally,I'd avoid anything new in the way of scotch, but bought a couple of bottles of this,at a good price, based on Amazon(and other)reviews.A blend of 3 single malts, and very good it is too.Price wise,it compared very favourably with the price of grain/malt blends, and was a very good buy.Would I purchase again, that's the acid test...and yes,I would.Need I say more? But if anyone wants to buy me a gift,a crate of Lagavulin, please! The older, the better!(hint, hint)

It's truly delicious, if a bit simple to finish, but honestly it's just a touch TOO sweet for me; I get rum-like notes from it, which isn't something you generally associate with Scotch! Note that while it's very good, it isn't quite great, and it's very simple on the nose and palate and so distinctly lacking in finish that it's worth a second mention. Another excellent 'beginner' whisky for sipping neat, this would make a really fantastic mixer too.

DH is a single malt lover and was extremely happy with this brand. He is forever cycling through new brands and this one he liked very much. Bit pricey though. Frankly I question whether it would be better to reduce the price and SAVE yourself the silly 3 metal monkeys on the outside of the bottle - i've always thought that bottles where excessive % of the money go on packaging, can't be good product. Although husband liked the flavour/taste

This has got to be one of the most delicious tasting whisky I've had in a long time. Beautiful bottle too. This drink is lovely on it's own little sips you have all kinds of different tastes (honey, smoked, spices) this drink is smooth and very surprising would recommended to everyone to try this I'm not a lover for whisky but I'm now a lover for this monkey shoulder 1st time I tried it was 4days ago and I for one will be buying more :)

This is not just a Great Value to Taste ratio Whisky, its just a great whisky, it is so well balanced (Drank straight no ice)For me the Price influences the Taste, i have had so many whiskys that were pricey and did not live up to the taste expected. In the case of Monkey Shoulder the Taste influences the Price tag, i am impressed that you get such a great flavor for the price.Keep up the great work Monkey Shoulder Blenders!!!!

This is a superb Whisky for those rare moments when you just want something easy and smooth to drink. It will now be my whisky of choice when away camping with friends and children at various kids sports events throughout the summer. Only problem is all the other dads love it too and it never lasts too long.Edit:- If two or more just pull the cork and throw it away, you won't be needing it again. It never lasts two nights.

Wow, I've wanted to try Monkey Shoulder for some time now and it does not disappoint.Normally I drink Grants Red as my frequently used Whisky and this is much nicer in my opinion. The taste is simply amazing and it's so easy to drink (Probably not a good thing haha). It smooth and has a pleasant aftertaste.Presentation-wise the bottle is nicely made and looks good in a Whisky collection.Would definitely recommend.

Stunning whiskey for a great price. I never like to judge a whiskey on price or age but only taste. However I wasn't expecting much from what seems like an advertiser had a bored weekend. It's seriously over marketed. However what has been produced is wonderful, great with a little dash of water. Vanilla and honey notes with the slightest smoke finish. Bargain at 16 quid on offer from Morrisons.

I'm writing this review from hospital as I tried to drink the whole bottle in one sitting. It's good stuff .the paramedics told me I'd only drank half the bottle . I remember singing Christmas songs drinking straight from the bottle and I'm told I was found naked in a shopping trolley outside asda . I have no idea how this happened but what I do know is the whisky is strong stuff.

Amazon service was excellent - delivery and packaging etc.The whisky is great. I'm no expert so won't attempt to sound as though I know all whiskey drinking but have recently treated myself to several well known whiskies and this was one of themand has proved to be a good buy.I only buy when the price is reduced and have saved quite a lot by doing so.Recommended.

Monkey Shoulder is a very good blended whisky but not £30, single malt price, good. It's not far off from JW Red, which is a great blend and much cheaper, and Shackleton is also cheaper but far more interesting. MS is just a bit overpriced for what it is, nice branding goes a long way, but for around the £20 it's a very good mixer or every day go-to.
