I bought this specifically for web design prototype sketching as it looked perfect for the job with the grid layout. My big mistake was judging the purchase by the title 'large' and not by the product dimensions listed in the technical area. I am not familiar with the sizing of Moleskine products, so was in for a surprise when this arrived. It is A5 size, something I do not consider to be large. I needed something closer to A4 size and kind of expected that from the title 'large'. So, it is not any help to me for sketching a complete webpage, but I can use it for sketching out different elements, so the purchase is by no means a total loss.Sizing aside, this is a lovely 'little' notebook. The reason I chose this particular notebook out of the range available, was this looked teal and it is the colour of my own website. (And my favourite colour!) The book is definitely teal and looks lovely. The cover feels pleasingly comfortable to hold; it is soft to the touch and almost like a soft leather. I am very impressed! I understand now why Moleskine products are so expensive. They ooze quality. The grid layout is perfect; dark enough to be visible but not dark enough to be intrusive. The paper, however, is a bit of a let-down, it is soooo thin! I am sketching in pencil, mostly a B which is reasonably soft and I am using light pressure, but I can see the outlines on the other side of the page. I am writing with a Derwent Precision HB refillable pencil and I can clearly see the writing through the other side of the page. I am finding that distracting for me when trying to create something fresh and new when I can see images on my fresh page. To avoid this I am having to draw on one side only which is a waste of paper and will use the book up quickly. So, this is a mixed review. I got something that was much smaller than expected with thinner paper than I would have credited a Moleskine for but I got a lovely notebook with a special kind of feel to it and in a beautiful colour. Despite the size and very thin paper, I do like this, so it earns four stars.

Love it. If you're considering buying this, just do it.And by the way, no moles are harmed for the covers!! It's fabric or cardboard mix.The moleskine brand is a good one and you can tell. The outside of the book is soft to the touch (I literally want to rub my face against it all the time), the elastic isn't going to stretch after three uses and the pages are beautiful quality paper. The front has a "in case of loss" area (ps - please don't use addresses or personal details, I tend to put my nickname and email address here) and the pages have dots to the edges (no annoying cm gap of wasted paper!).The pages do not have page numbers and there is no contents section at the front - but I reallydon't care about these points and it would be simple enough to plan a contents page at the front and then number pages...The back has a handy document pocket which doesn't make the book all bulky, and the book has a ribbon to mark special / relevant pages. The book definitely lies flat, so it is ideal for bullet journals, food diaries, sketches or whatever.I've used pencil, biros, fine ink writers, straedtler triplus rollers and ergo soft coloured pencils - nothing has run. Erasers don't rip the paper either. My third picture shows the size of the book against an A4 piece of paper.Mine is a lush green colour but there are so many fab colours (and sizes) to choose from. Bear in mind that the cover is soft so will bend/get damaged if shoved into a bag or something. I also have a leuchtturm1917 which may be a better buy for you if you want a hard back cover, contents page and page numbers (but I love them both)

I'm new to the famous Moleskine notebooks. I got the Large Soft Khaki Beige Dotted version, and I see some reviews are suggesting that the paper has problems with ink -- well, I brought out all the big guns: modern fountain pens, vintage fountain pens, and vintage fountain pens with flex nibs, that can lay down a line 2mm thick... and I can definitely say that absolutely none of them got through! Yes, I may have a slight addiction to fountain pens... so if a notebook won't survive them, it's no use to me. In all honesty., this Moleskine notebook is the equal to the A5 Leuchtturm, which is pretty much bulletproof. The pen that came closest to getting a mark through the paper is the Noodlers Ahab,a modern flex pen which has a quite stiff steel nib, and therefore digs deeper if you flex it to its full width. (2mm, again.) And even that was the merest shadow. So if, like me, you're fanatical about fountain pens, you should be okay with this paper.Being used to A5 notebooks, I'm having to adjust to this size, which is about 1.5cm narrower than A5. And the soft cover does tend to roll up, now I've put some heavy use into the notebook, so I guess next time I'll go for the hardcover. I must admit I miss the other things Leuchtturm has as standard -- numbered pages, contents listing, two ribbon bookmarks, back-cover wallet, and labels provided for the cover. But the Moleskine also has a wallet in the back to hold loose papers, and one ribbon bookmark, so it's not too badly provided. On the whole, it's a hit.

So I have two big complaints, both of which I blame myself for, but still, I'm disappointed at the cost.See, at this price I expected a) A5 size and b) paper you could write on without bleed through. I know, I know, the Q&A and the product information clearly states it's smaller than A5 and bleed through is a thing, I accept that I can't be too moody with it for the fact that I didn't do my research properly, but seriously? £8 for a teeny pocket book that even a biro shows through?I know many people buy these as bullet journals - that's fine if you're planning to use pencil, or if you use a lot of inserts and decorations. I found it's perfect for healthy eating and shopping references - I use whatever pens I like on one side of the paper, then stick in print outs on the other side, and it is indeed a reasonable compromise in size between "too big for your pocket" and "too small to be useful" which - okay, I admit it, the thing pages serve a purpose - is partly down to the thing pages that cause the bleed through.

The cover is brighter than I expected from the photos, which isn't a personal preference for me, but not something to ultimately detract from the score - some people might like the light cream colour. The soft cover doesn't work so well on the smaller moleskins as the larger ones. If you want a small pocket book like this, it may be worth going for the hard-cases as they are easier to work with at such small sizes.Ultimately, though, you can't fault the quality of the product, and it matches the high standards you would expect from Moleskin. Aside from predominantly personal preferences of finding a soft cover at this size a bit fiddlier than expected, it is a good product and would be recommended for the right type of person.Just, unfortunately, not me.

Love this little book, use it all the time as a bullet journal for work, organising things like order lists, appointments, company contact details, daily jobs, money in and out, work schedule for the week. its made me so much better organised and the product is wearing amazingly well after a few months of daily 3-4 times a day opening not a scuff and the elastic is still strong. the pages are also thick enough for me using a normal black biro,i cant see any bleed through and the item is a handy pocket size enabling me to "lob" it easily into my work bag when im going out.The only negative i would say is having to number the pages to make a index of important pagesBut i love it and would purchaseagain as its so much cheaper than the alternatives.

Perfect for bullet journaling. Beautiful colour, great size, handy pocket at the back to keep a small ruler or any loose paper.I use a bullet journal to track almost everything; habits, to help me correlate them with my mood e.g. caffeine makes me irritated, as well as to create to-do lists day by day. I started by watching the introduction video on bulletjournal.com, and then looked further for inspiration on Instagram and Pinterest. See pictures for some examples of my own spreads. If anything, the pages are slightly thin, though this does not spoil the effect. It just means that an ink pen, such as a fountain pen, may run through. This is easily avoided by using a pen such as a papermate,or a gel pen. Thoroughly recommend.

This is my first moleskine and it is indeed a lovely piece of stationery. I bought it for making a bullet journal and the size is great – enough dots for a 30-day spread across one page, with enough margin for a page title. The paper would ideally be thicker, as when writing in dark pen you can see the words from the other side of the page, but the ink does not actually bleed through. The cover is soft and bendy, which makes it easier to open flat for drawing (though not as resilient to daily knocks). The paper is a lovely creamy colour and the dots are grey.

I bought this product for a bullet journal and it is absolutely gorgeous. It has a beautiful grey-brown colour and has a handy pocket at the back. The packaging it comes in can turn into a sign for your door which is very good as you can recycle it! The pages are very soft and the dots on it a really nice as I have never had dotted paper before - it a great change! There is a strap to go over it so it doesn’t open and is very flexible so easy to put on. I have had this product for a couple of months and it is like my best friend! Would definitely reccomend!

I'm already a huge fan of the black Moleskine of the same size, cover & design - but I LOVE this one. Gorgeous underwater blue colour reminds me of the turquoise waters of the Isles of Scilly. Until now, I've always opted for squared/quadrille but I'm letting go of those to embrace the informality & airiness of the dotted grid pages. Delivered in pristine condition thanks to thoughtful packaging from Books etc. And delivered on the earliest date of the estimated timescale. I'm so happy, I've just ordered two more in different colours. Thank you. : )

I first saw dot grid books online & being used for various technically sketches, wanted one myself but struggled to find one & not wanting to spend a lot on something I was trying for first time. Book is small but wanted something pocketable (have already used the plain paper/hardcover books) and dot grid is handy in keeping things neat whilst not being too visible that spoils sketches. The paper could do with being a bit heavier/thicker as it's easy for ink to bleed through onto reverse but then again that might be my choice in pens

I use this as a mini Bullet Journal and it’s great. Fits in my clutch bag or coat pocket. I’ve been using it with fineliners and it doesn’t bleed through. You get some ghosting but this isn’t as much of a problem with finer pens (I use a 0.1mm now). The little pocket at the back is handy for keeping mementos in.If you want a handy little book to keep notes, or have a very minimal BuJo for just planning rather than collections, this is great.

This journal is stunning. Everything about it is high quality. It has a handy pocket in the back which I use to keep stickers and things for my journal, really handy. I love that the pages are dotted rather than lined, because it gives you more flexibility. I adore this journal. The cover looks expensive and feels amazing and soft, you just want to stroke it and touch it. It's just beautiful, I am so pleased I got it.

I am a huge fan of Moleskine brand in general. I love solid designs, quality, and durability. This notebook is one of my favorites. I am using it every day. the best thing about this design is dotted pages. I had hard times finding perfect totted pages as in so many notebooks dots are extremely dark or big. Also, the size is really comfortable - it is not too big to carry around and not too small to write comfortably.

6.5.2017

Perfect for what I needed. Elastic band is a little bit looser than I would have liked, but as it fills up that won't be much of an issue. I would definitely recommend doing a pen test on a sheet at the back to check what pens bleed through the paper. I've found most of my pens ghost to various degrees, but once I write on the back of that page it's barely noticeable.
