This is not a guide book so you may want to buy a separate one or plan ahead of your trip using the internet but this is useful to carry along with your guide book or to transfer details into from your guide book to create a custom book of your own. It's a blend of sketchbook, notebook and maps rather than a guide but can be used to create your own guide. Great for planning before hand, recording while there and for keeping memories in after. This was my preferred map of Paris to use for its handy size and accuracy of the streets and metro stations. I used a larger map at home or my hotel to plan which main areas to visit each day but on the street I used my Moleskine.Another bonus is that you don't look like an obvious tourist with a discreet notebook map rather than a large fold out map of Paris.Plenty of pages for sketching with tabbed sections for notes which I used for key phrases and to write out my itineraries. Great for creating your own guide and memento at the same time. This really is what you want to make it. The more you put in, the more you will get out. Shall be filling in sections at home to use for next time.I can see this being a product for a certain kind of person however. You need to be one of those who writes things down and records what they see and do, or if you love to mark on the map where to go back to next time and jot down your thoughts on places then this is for you. Some people may prefer a separate map and guide book however, but I think it is down to personal taste.I'm looking into buying ones for other cities too because of the use I have gotten out of this one.

Firstly this is by no means a guidebook, if you are looking for a quick travel guide for Seattle, I would recommend DK Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guide: Seattle on http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1405360941/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_3Secondly and more importantly, this is as best you can get to a notebook from the best in the notebook business Moleskine, you will find several useful of maps at the front and in the middle which is great for marking down where you been accompanied by useful contact notes and empty directory pages which you can fill in over time. What I really like are the transparent papers which you can stick over the map, creating your own routes or places of interest on the map which you van mark down on the pen. This is handy for points of interests or for marking down the best way to get somewhere. I wish there were more of these transparent papers for every map.In addition to this, you will get several useful contact numbers for the city including tourist information, and emergency contact numbers, with lots of detachable pieces of paper although you probably wouldn't use these. The stickers however are a useful addition which you can stick to the customised directory pages, on the map or on the detachable slips. The only reason why its a four star rather than a five star is that the maps could of covered more of the lesser known areas of Seattle, and perhaps stickers which could of catered specifically for the maps.

This is the last word in style, elegance and practicality. It has everything you could ever want in a notebook to record your travels. It is flexible enough that you can customise it to your own demands yet it incorporates everything that you will need - Paris metro map, street map, directions to main and lesser known tourist attractions, restaurant reviews (and space to write your own comments on meals etc)... it is a complete guide with lots of space to 'write your own guidebook' as they say in the advert.I love Moleskine for the way it feels in your hand and your pocket and this one does not disappoint. It has those little rounded hardback covers that are so useful when trying to write standing up or without a surface to lean on and there are three bookmark ribbons as well as the usual elastic one. The paper is top quality and it makes writing an absolute pleasure!Amazon's price is the cheapest you will get anywhere - I have researched this and you could pay a lot, lot more for this product!

Really useful if you're a tourist that doesn't want to appear so 'tourist-like'. Has a useful street index and map section, as well as fold-out u/s bahn network map. The little customisable tabs were a cool feature, but I didn't really use them as much- they couldve perhaps be made into a shorter section to allow for more blank pages (the reason this is 4 instead of 5 stars, really. not enough blank pages! i do have big writing, though...).I used the blank pages for sketching and as a journal- you could also stick tickets etc in, although i found the little fold-out pocket to be more useful for that. I did not use the little rip- out 'berlin' pages at the back....nice idea, but generally a waste of paper. It was small enough to fit in my small jacket pocket, and sturdy enough to survive a week in there! Reccomended for both first time and returing visitors to Berlin. I can't see why you would buy one if you lived there. :)KM

I feel compelled to write a review as I loved this Moleskine notebook so much. I recently visited my girlfriend in Toronto and she gave me this as a gift upon my arrival. I particularly like this notebook because unlike a diary (whereby I gabble on and never get past the third day) this is compartmentalised to include: maps/notes section/tabbed section as well as labels. Subsequently I have written up every coffee shop, every bar, every sight and every character we have stumbled upon whilst on our little adventure and many of these memories are now indelibly etched in my memory thanks to this notebook. If you take one thing from this review it should be this; if you romanticise writing a diary/journal whilst on your travels but always fail to complete one, this is definitely for you. Such a great memento and it contains memories I'll cherish years from now.

I bought this in advance of a trip to Madrid, and it appears to have everything I could need. There's a map of the metro, several pages of city maps (only the city centre, but I won't need much else) and then lots of pages for notes and scribbles. The notes pages are broken down by tabs, with seperate sections for food, drink, hotels, sights, etc, and a number of blank tabs so you can make your own dedicated sections. There's also a healthy number of blank pages, a section for names/addresses, a handy block of tracing paper, and a document pocket at the back for business cards and whatnot.I think the real value in this will come from years of shared use with friends and family,as it's the perfect tome to build up your own travel guide. I'd happily shell out for the other city versions if/when I visit those places.

This is a great idea for a book. The maps are useful and the transparent overlays mean that you can draw on the map without permanently defacing anything. The metro map is out of date, they have re-organized how the lines run and this caused a problem trying to find the right train. This needs to be used in conjunction with another source of data - there is no information other than the maps in here. I used the Rough Guide to Brussels and picked out the highlights to write in this book. I also put in travel times, train timetables and hotel information.During the visit I collected a number of tickets, and I used this book as a scrapbook,so I now have a reminder of what I saw during my visit.

Like the other Moleskine City Guides, this gives me all that I need when I go on a business trip in one handy pocket size package. I can mark the key destinations I will be visiting (meeting location, hotel, metro interchanges) before my journey using the transparent overlays. Then I can use the guide to help me navigate public transport and journeys on foot. I take notes of my meetings in the blank pages, keep addresses and phone numbers of my destinations on the relevant pages and keep all my receipts in the back pocket of the guide. It replaces map, metro guide, notebook, itinerary listing addresses and container for receipts - neat!

I have used moleskin travel books before and found the details you can add about a place before you arrive is invaluable. We were constantly seen using our home made guidebook and found some hidden gems, especially in the food areas. I have always liked the fact I could find and review a place or experience in the book, to constantly update the guidebook and as a record of frequent visits. As a negative the book is very small and the maps can be quite hard to read, especially the water bus route map, but it does fit well in a handbag or pocket. Excellent quality as you would expect form a Moleskine.

Once again moleskin has done it! this series of moleskin traveler books are great for anyone that loves to take notes and plan a trip! i have even bought one for my hometown and i use it as a referral for shops and restaurants i like!As a moleskin fan i could not say less. I just hope they keep producing new special editions, of course a nice addition to a moleskin would be an special pocket with a micro pen... that have not been done yet and would be really great!great quality of paper! I totally reccomend it to anyone.

I've ordered this City notebook in preparation for a trip to San Francisco later in the year. I intend to treat it as a mini album & will add photos & memories of my stay as well as treating it as a planner. There is a really useful pocket in the back for me to keep tickets etc. I feel really well organised already. If you go onto the Moleskine website you can also download extra pages eg diary to stick into the notebook. It's a perfect size to carry around with me. It's a perfect 3 in 1:Notebook-Scrapbook-Planner :-)

I am very happy with this purchase but it is a little smaller than I was expecting, my fault I didn't take a good look at the dimensions. It will fit nicely into a small handbag or pocket to take with you whilst sightseeing. Especially good if you want to make brief notes about places to see and go before your travels but would not recommend if you want to use it as a travel journal/diary whilst away as it is not really big enough. As always with Moleskine, excellent quality.

This notebook is great for:- on-the-spot travel writing- collecting mementos: it has a pocket in the back for ticket stubs, etc.- remembering where you went: it has a map of the entire of Rome with tracing paper to put on top so you can remember the exact route you took- writing EVERYTHING down: it literally has space for everything!I bought this when I was in Rome with a school trip, and I don't regret buying it at all!

This is a journal/guide book with useful sections of information, maps and space to make your own guide book/record of your trip. I love the stylish nature of Moleskine anyway and this is no exception. It has the usual handy pocket at the back for info and even tracing paper with sticky at the top so you can place them over the maps and mark your favourite places or even places to avoid if you so wish.

Moleskine is great, we've tested it while walking around Paris and boy, how useful this was! Handy map, including plan of metro stations (which is essential, while traveling around this city).Moleskine philosophy itself is great. You can customize your map by using transparent foils and making notes on it. You have lots of pages for your own notes. All in all - great companion for any traveller.
