I recently purchased the Misfit Shine and am very impressed with this product. From the trendy design and easy to use features, this activity tracker would be ideal for any college student. The Misfit Shine allows you to track your steps, keep track of time, and monitor your sleep in one little metal disk that can be worn in many different ways.Battery LifeRather than a traditional chargeable fitness tracker, the Misfit is battery operated so you never need to charge it. The battery has a very long life and will not need to be replaced often. This will allow you to use it at all times without worrying about it dying during use.DesignThe design of the Misfit is unlike any other in the market. It is a small metal disk that can be worn clipped to a shoe or shirt, in a wristband, as a necklace, or as an anklet. Having so many ways to wear the product makes it very convenient to make it work with your day-to-day life. Other unique features of the Misfit Shine include:• Multiple disk colors• Large variety of wristband colors and designs• Innovative light up face unlike any other in the marketOther Features• The Misfit also doubles as a watch allowing you to keep track of the time and your activity all in one product.• The Misfit is waterproof allowing you to wear it in the shower or while swimming. This makes it much easier to remember to wear your Misfit because you never need to take it off.• Along with tracking your daily activity, the Misfit also monitors your sleep. It will tell you how many hours you slept, and what kind of quality of sleep you received that night.• Unlike similar products in the market, the Misfit allows you to change the mode it tracks your activity in. You can have it track your activity while biking, swimming, or walking. While the Misfit is such a great product, the step counter can be inaccurate. However, this problem is easily fixed by simply changing where you place it on your body.• The price of the Misfit is hard to beat. The quality is outstanding for what you pay, and it is much more affordable than competing brands such as FitBit and Jawbone. As a college student, you spend a lot of time walking around campus and participating in various activities. The Misfit will help you stay on top of your fitness, and keep you running on time. The Misfit Shine is a very innovative, well-designed product that I highly recommend to any college student to help stay on top of the game.

I have been wearing my Shine for about nine months. Overall, I am pretty happy with this device. Previously I had been in the habit of tracking my daily steps using a "clip on" pedometer, but I sometimes forgot to clip the pedometer on, and would be distraught at the thought of uncounted steps. The Shine is great - strap it on and forget it. I only take it off to shower, as I'm generally distrustful of "water proof" electronic claims. Others wear theirs to shower/swim , etc., so I suspect it can withstand these activities - I just simply choose not to expose it to water. The nicest thing about the Shine is that it is attractive and discreet - so it looks perfectly fine on my (rather small)wrist no matter what outfit I am wearing. I don't find that the clock function works perfectly, so I wear the Shine on my right wrist and a conventional watch on my left. (Perhaps a bit like belt and suspenders, but it works for me.) I have found, as have other reviewers, that the plastic band can be a bit "loose" and the Shine had popped out a couple of times - fortunately, I noticed before losing it, but the band is a bit of a drawback. A more secure band would be a good idea. I'm not sure how (or why) the activity measurements are calculated as they are, but I have been able to make the adjustment from overall steps and "sustained steps" to the Shine "points" system without undue bother. I find that the sleep tracking is actually pretty accurate - so that's been a bit of an eye opener (no pun intended). I don't particuarly care about my historical step/activity counts, so I don't mind that the info isn't easily sortable, although this seems to bother some users. I have used both the Android and Apple apps, and prefer the Apple interface. Overall, I find the Shine a great, stylish alternative to a pedometer, but perhpas not as feature filled as some fitness trackers.

This is the 4th activity tracker I've owned and by far my favorite. The Misfit Shine beats all my prior trackers for two reasons. First, the Shine is battery operated. I've had the device for almost a month now and have not had to charge it one time. Also, no more keeping track of the special charging cord/adapter that come with other wearable devices. Second, the Shine keep track of swimming which is my favorite summertime activity. Other Positives: The Shine is by far the most attractive tracker and I feel comfortable wearing it to the office and more formal settings. There are a variety of bands and pendants that are compatible with the Shine.I bought the Biaoge metal mesh band in black from amazon and I am super happy with it.Draw backs : The surface of the Shine scratches easily so be careful what you rub it against. The Biaoge band seems to provide a little extra protection for the device's surface. I've heard that the device can slip out of the rubber wrist strap that comes with it. I only used the rubber wrist strap for the first week and didn't have any problems, but I can see how there might be an issue if the rubber gets stretched.Update: I switched back to the plastic sports band about two months ago when the Biaoge started looking a little shabby. Personally I like the way the Shine looks in the plastic band. Since that time I've worn this tracker constantly while engaging in a variety of activity including swimming. The tracker has not popped out. Not even once. I'm not sure why everyone has had such an issue with losing their trackers. I'm wondering if people are wearing the bands so tight that it stretches the ring.

I see this as a glorified pedometer! BUT I have enjoyed the sleep feed back. When I feel groggy in the morning I check and sure enough I have not slept very well, AND it does keep me aware of my activity. I have set myself a goal of 1,000 points/day and most days I think I achieve that.Instructions are extremely basic and I still have not figured out how to get cycling activity to show and get rid of swimming since I don't swim, I don't run either and would prefer to see walking as an icon option on the app. When I have ridden 12 miles why is it telling me I have only traveled 2 to 3 miles is it really only counting "steps" and not pedal rotations.(When preparing to cycle, remembering to tap it 3 times can be easily forgotten too)Am I supposed to triple tap when the activity is finished?Do I have to sync it every time I change activity?I would really appreciate a much more detailed step by step instruction in the manual. It is pretty though and I have to admit it was the aesthetics of it that initially attracted me to it :-) and, I am getting benefit with from the heightened awareness of my physical activity. My feeling is I got what I paid for and that is OK

Great improvement over the fitness tracker I had before -- Fitbit Flex. Plus, I don't have to wear a watch. The dial will give you the approximate time down to the five minute mark. I have small wrists, and didn't like having two things on it. The "champagne" color is classy and seems to go with everything! The app is easy to use, and allows input of additional exercise. My preferred exercise is gardening, and like the other tracker, it doesn't give me credit for much of that. I suspect it won't for a recumbent bike, either; but the app will help you circumvent this deficiency by manual input. I still haven't figured out how to make it learn a new activity, as the vague directions suggest.Another nice feature is that this tracker - like Santa - knows when you are sleeping and knows when you're awake. It gives you great feedback on your sleep quality without your remembering to tell it to do so. I have been using a sleep tracker on my phone, and this one agrees with the MisFit. Overall, I really recommend it!

Just received my misfit Shine just a few days ago. Compared my steps it to my Fitbit "One" and the "One" is over calculating my steps. I have been using Shine clip and it has not falling off so far. I wanted a fitness tracker that would track my steps and track a special activity like bicycling and walking that I really enjoy doing. I did not want a heartbeat monitor or wearing something on your wrist that so big and ugly. I definitely did NOT want smart features of a watch that would give notifications of who called, email, and/or text messages. Also, I did not want someone coaching me while I'm doing my activity.I wanted something contemporary and very sleek!!!* Inside the box - sport band and a clip came with the Shine.* Battery was easy to install.* As far as the iPhone App - somewhat challenging directions setting the Shine up and remembering what all of the features do within the app.

I bought this when it was reduced. I've always wanted one but some of the reviews have been less than complimentary about it staying in the strap and being lost.I shouldn't have worried. Although I've only had it for a month I've never taken it off. It's stayed put and it works it makes me want to exercise which is a first for me. I feel if I haven't reached my targets, which I've increased already I feel I should go out and walk a bit more.I've tried it when cycling and it works, I'mYet to try it swimming but will do soon.It has also made me sleep more lol. Which I should do as I was only sleeping about 4 hrs a night,I'm sleeping for 7 and feel better for it.I've also lost a stone in weight! My only regret is not buying it sooner.

I LOVE my Shine. I was given a wine-colored Shine as a gift but lost it when it popped out of the wristband. I panicked (because I rely on it to funnel extra earned calories into MyFitnessPal!) and immediately ordered this champagne-colored one for same day delivery. Yes, it comes with the wristband!! The color is lovely. Yes, you do have to be careful about how you rub or catch your wrist on anything because the device will pop out of the wristband if it's tugged on. I don't know how exact or precise it is - or how precise any of these fitness trackers are - but I've been using one for almost 4 months and it's helped me lose 16 pounds, so it's close enough for me!

I had to return the first one I ordered because it didn't work (not even with a new battery). The second one worked immediately. If you get one and have trouble at first sync, make sure your phone operating system is up to date (I had an issue with it not syncing). My favorite things about the Misfit other than its sleek, simple look is that I don't have to charge it, and I can scuba dive and shower without having to remove it. I like its versatility with where you can wear it on your body and I like it isn't plastic. I've had a Fitbit since they first came out, and though I like the Fitbit app better, I like the Misfit product better than the Fitbit.

While I did not like the Shine initially, I've grown to rely upon it daily. The Shine performs well, although I should note it is better relied upon for casual tracking of activities including amount and quality of sleep. The pedometer function is more accurate than most, however it is not based upon GPS locations and therefore movement based. The watch function is as accurate as many battery powered wrist watches. I like the design very much like my Movado dress watch. The app is well designed, useful, and interfaces quite nicely with My Fitness Pal.I can't imagine not receiving the daily data from the Shine now. A keeper!

I've only had this for a week or so and it's my first activity tracker. It was hard to get over the feeling to not get it wet but I did and it's working fine despite being worn in the shower daily. I started out wearing it as a clip but changed to wearing it watch style. It's very versatile. I tried to purchase it locally and went to seven different stores. They we all either completely out or just had one or two available to purchase. None had a gold one, so thank you Amazon Prime. I've gotten lots of questions and compliments on it.All in all very happy with it.EDIT: 8/21/14 It syncs with MYFITNESSPAL now!!!

I love my misfit. I love it so much that I bought one for my grandma after I got this one. I love the sleep design and that it is hardly noticeable if you don't want it to be. I also really enjoy that I can wear it on my shoes when I go cycling - a lot of trackers don't have that ability. The design is also nice enough that if I'm wearing a nice outfit, it doesn't look tacky for me to wear my shine. I also really like being able to "compete" with my friends who have shines by seeing their activity and receiving push notifications when someone gets ahead of me or I beat someone else. Very motivating.

Always seems to record steps accurately, however when I tap on the device it may or may not show me the time or the progress information. I was told by the company it takes a little time to "learn" to interpret my taps and that I should tap on the device the same way each time, but I am still having issues. I almost lost the device once because the device started coming out of the band after I scraped my arm against something, but luckily I noticed that it was falling out. This could be an issue for very active people. Overall, I think the price is reasonable and I would buy it again.

I purchased the misfit shine not knowing much about it and I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use. Worked right out of the box as soon as I got it paired with my phone. I wear it everywhere and like how it even tracks my sleep habits. You have to check your status on your phone after misfit syncs and then you can change or choose another activity or sleep mode. Good fitness tracker to start out with for the price.

This is just perfect! Functionality and beauty combined. Easy to wear, and easy to use. What I value greatly is how easily the sync works between Shine and IPhone 6, not to mention the data and how it is presented in the application.I still have heart rate monitor to track my gym exercises, but I don't find at all annoying to switch between the two.
