Just read the other reviews & I was shocked. In the first photo this is fur from my dog's mane around his neck. It always gets tangled from the collar. I was able to detangle one side in less than two minutes & my dog loved it. The 2nd photo shows how to keep the blade parallel to the dog's skin. 3rd photo show how NOT TO USE this dematter.Important things to remember before using this very effective and yes, potentially dangerous bladedd tool:1) READ ALL DIRECTIONS BEFORE USING. It's easy to just take it out & try to use it. But the blade is essentially a razor.The directions specifically states, keep the blade parallel with the dog's skin. Never pinch-up skin or positon the tool upside-down or perpendicular to the dog's body.2)

Hi let's get one thing clear this product is amazing and the best thing for taking out tangles in your dogs coat. There is one problem I managed to cut my dogs ear , now it was my fault not the products on this one occasion I did not keep the piece of kit at right angles to the dog and cut into his ear we called the vet and sent a picture to him showing the injury he told us what to do and all turned out well. Now do not be put off purchase of this it is the best thing out there but I do feel that this product should carry better instructions of exactly what not to do.ALWAYS KEEP THE PRODUCT AT RIGHT ANGLES TO YOUR DOG AND PULLING DOWNWARDS AND NOT SIDE WAYS BECAUSE LIKE I DID.

We have a very fluffy Spaniel who just gets matts all the time, especially on his elbows. These are great, and a very painless way of starting to get rid of them. You need to hold it spike down, and slide it from the top to bottom under the matt to get the blade at the best angle. After a few passes, make sure you’re not getting hair caught in it. Once you’ve split the matt up, either chop off the bits left, or move to a matt knife with multiple blades to finish without losing too much hair for showing etc.

I read about these tools online when I began to have problems with my cats coat matting. This is a wonderful and safe way of dealing with problem mats and tight knots that refuse to be combed out.No danger of harming the delicate skin and easily cuts through the problem. My cat is now calmer during grooming sessions and the problem mats have vanished for now. I hope they never become a problem again but I'll always have this little tool around.

This is a great knot/lug splitter but you have to be real careful.As long as the knot is not close to the skin (which is really quite hard to tell in cats) it is exellent to split knots and cut them out. I would ALWAYS suggest that if you cant put your finger between the knot and the skin in both cats and dogs, to ensure you dont cut the skin, if you're not experienced with these tools,dont use. Otherwise they are a great little gadget to have.

Detangles my dogs' beards in a quarter of the time it usually takes me, oh the joy! My only concern is that with over use I don't expect there would be much in the way of face furnishings left, it does the job almost too well. Even so, I'm really impressed with it. The design makes it very safe for using around noses and gums and it doesn't tug too much. Feels nice and comfy in the hand as well.

With five very large very hairy dogs I find this tool invaluable, It effortlessly cuts through the matts without tugging, so the dogs remain relaxed and happy. Only one issue with them as far as I can see - why not make one with removable blades so one may replace them? I know they are inexpensive etc etc but maybe a more substantial one with replacement blades for professional use etc?

I have a 4 month old miniature schnauzer who doesn't like being groomed and had quite a bit of matting on his legs. I used this for the first time today, and it was amazing! As long as you use it correctly I can't see how it can cut your dog, as the plastic piece is always against the dog's skin, not the blade. It cut right through the mats, and within seconds got rid of the matting.

Love this product! I have 2 Bichons who tend to knot when their fur is longer. I used to resort to using scissors but was always worried of hurting them but this has saved my worries! You can even save some tangles by putting the pointed end though to separate and knots are easily removed by using the blade. Just hope the blade stats sharp for a good while

I have a very long haired cat who is constantly matted, this would recommended by a friend who has the same problem with her dog. Works really well and the cat allows me to use it for a while! Have tried lots of things previously but this benefits from actually working and being silent! Would recommend and order again!

These are fab as long as you know what your doing and are careful. Caught my nail once as wasn't being careful so my bad, must be on the ball when using. This is a nastie in my eyes when de-matting, especially if carpet matt! Great product, I prefer to other matt breakers as find others pull more on the dog.

I really like this well made/sturdy product. My bunny had a particularly stubborn area of fur that wasn't responding to normal grooming and this tool really helped me to get on top of it. Not something you would use all the time but definitely one for the first aid box as when you need it......you need it.

arrived next day and is really good. My longhaired cat's fur is very matted and he hates brushing or combing and won't let me cut the worst patches out. This works a treat. I only had one go so far, while he napped infront of me on the keyboard, and it is already so much better. Highly recommend

I have a Maltese with long hair and this is very useful to help untangle the matted hair. It is easy to use, and very small. The only challenge that I found is the pointy part is a bit too thick, which can be challenging when the matted hair is only small area.Overall highly recommended.

Great little item which we use for our Cocker spaniel's coat - which matts constantly.Used for only the most troublesome matts though.Also, be careful when using - the blade is razor sharp and can nick your pet of if you're not careful- but a handy part of our de-matting arsenal.
