This games compilation is SUCH a treasure, it was a fantastic find to be honest, I am a retro gamer and havent owned a console since the Playstation 2 and have a great love of games that actually predate the system too, including those that were produced primarily as classic Arcade cabinet games, such as Tapper (here presented as the "Root Beer Tapper" as Nintendo when they distributed the game were concerned about the featuring of Budweiser/alocholic beverages). The game features a pretty slick selection screen, for some reason it has an Egyptian theme, perhaps its to do with the vintage of the games but you scroll between icons representing the games, screen shots and gameplay appear in the central window as you do so and you pick what you would like to play. The game also features auto-save features and has some very good graphic displays of the controls for each game when you select them, the graphics of each of the classic games are rendered perfectly, and I do mean perfectly, playing Tapper or Rampage or Gauntlet I felt I may as well have been playing the Arcade cabinet itself (as I recently was at an Arcade theme bar during a travel break). I have no idea if the original game contained an inlay card, the one I own now does not, it was a marketplace purchase rather than factory sealed but the in game prompts and instructions are very clear. The complete games listing, which is probably the most important information when considering whether or not to purchase is as follows:-SpyhunterDefenderDefender 2GauntletJoustJoust 2PaperboyRampageMarble MadnessRobotron 2084Smash TVBubblesRoadblastersBlasterRampartSinistra720Super SprintToobinKlaxSplatSatans HollowVindicatorsRoot Beer TapperThis is pretty comprehensive, for me all the classic arcade cabinets are here, plus many games I fondly remember from ports to the home computer systems such as ZX Spectrum or Commodore 64. I had no idea that Midway was responsible for publishing all these titles and I have to say they were really, really on their game when they were doing so. It has actually made me interested in reading more about the video games publishing house and discovering what became of them and whether they still put out games under a different company or the same company name. It surely is a guarantee of quality, so far as I am concerned.I would state again that I am a retrogamer, I think perhaps this could be a collection that is not attractive to some contemporary gamers, the gameplay is pretty simple, repetitive even and often, once you have mastered the basics, it is about achieving scores rather than simply finishing the game (which can be easy enough and is not something demanding days or weeks in terms of time commitment to play through). The games dont often feature lavish stories, if they do there is nothing like the cut sequences or end screens and conclusions that exist today (or did on the PS2).There are actually pretty few other classics that are not represented, such as dig dug or bubble, bubble, but I suspect they are published by other games publishing companies. Unfortunately other classic titles, such as Timber, which I consider a spiritual successor to Tapper, appear to be unavailable altogether and lost to gaming unless you happen to encounter a classic arcade cabinet on your travels. In any case, this game will not disappoint if you have the same tastes as me, even if you dont I really and truly recommend you give it a try and good gameplay isnt ever out of fashion, whatever you may make of the old fashioned graphics.

Admittedly I approached this package with some trepidation. Could a compilation of seemingly archaic status possibly take pride of place among a contemporary crop of games fuelled by the next big graphical enhancement? Of course for these games have this very package to answer for.It may be the opinion of a few that these games are now obsolete relics, merely collecting dust on the bottom shelf. This is simply not the case. Even after all these years they offer ultimate enjoyment, unquestionable entertainment and above all are downright fun. I use the word they as a collective for some 24 games, each a glittering jewel in the impressive crown Midway has created.Modern gamers, and I include myself in that bracket, owe it to them-selves to discover where it all began. This, in essence, is the birth of video gaming. Defender the inspiration for Halo, Super Sprint the afflatus for Gran Turismo, you bet. And for the elder gamer out there, what better chance to invoke old memories and to rekindle the passion once shared for games such as these? These games have been compelled to rely solely and utterly upon sheer playability and wow does it deliver in this respect. From the frenetic mayhem that is Super Smash TV, which induced me to a state of panic stricken frenzy, to the gripping complexity that can be Klax. The diversity of genres on offer is astounding; there really is something here for everyone, young or old.Presentation is not this packages' strong point but when the fundamentals of the game play are so well constructed as this, who cares, you are simply having to much fun and are immersed to deeply in the absorbing action to even notice any rough edges or glitches of which there are few.So for anyone who shares my old caution I urge you to lay your prejudice aside and to unearth that special enjoyment to be found in this package. It bought so much to gaming then and can now be bought back to life once more to fondle the memories of old or even to entrance a whole new generation.

I have played/owned Midway Arcade Treasures 2 & think this one tops it why? I tell you why Defender is a classic & it is a perfect conversion of the arcade so is Defender 2, Rootbeer tapper & paperboy.Klax is a tetris style game where you have to get 3 in a row, sound boring but is fun.I had these games on the psone but found the games here are smoother & better, I will not be selling this in a hurry- a classic.

If you ignore the 'Pyramid' intro and confusing way of listing the games (how hard can it be to give us a simple list instead of confusing pictures?) this is great for any retro-game lover.I'd never heard of Rampart before buying this compilation but now its one of my all time favourites. Its a bit like Tetris but with Castles, Ships and Cannons as well - Genius!Just buy it.

Excellent to get a retro collection of games together from my youth. Overall they were lots of fun. However some of the controls using the joysticks on the PS2 pads were unfavourable. Overall though, very good.

Many many games, some of which are better remembered than played without "nostalgia" spectacles. All in all, a good buy.
