I've never owned or played a racing game before this one so I can't compare to any other. I was bought this as a Christmas present and I've got to say it is thoroughly enjoyable and involving. As most people above agree it is a great game, the graphics are good the physics engine gives the game a realistic feel and because you are racing in streets rather than a track the sense of speed is heightened. It's not a game for kids, there is mild swearing and the constant splat of cars hitting pedestrians as well as the occasional screams of "OH you've killed my baby" make it so.There are 3 modes:Circuit - As it soundsCapture the flag - Apparently this is a classic game formatCareer - This is the most involving of all,you race steadily improving racers in steadily improving cars and each time you beat them over 2 races you win their car.The game is heavy on resources and definitely requires a 64meg graphics card as a minimum. You also require an analogue game pad or steering wheel, the game is almost impossible using the keyboard particularly when you have the higher performance cars. The game is finishable, as I said above I am a novice to this type of game but have managed to complete everything, albeit it took me 3 months. One nice touch at the end is that all the way through the game you find yourself wishing you could go back to the races which caused you so much difficulty and try them again with your new car. When you beat Savo (the world champion) you get to do just that with all the cars you have ever won (including Savo's) in your garage. It took me 2 nights to complete the game from start to finish once I had his.If you can persevere until you have his car it makes the circuit races and capture the flag battles much easier.

After missing out on the first title i decided to purchase the second hoping for a game that would fulfill the street racer scenario of fast action through packed city streets in awesome cars - to be blunt i was not dissapointed at all.Graphics are slick and of a high standard, as are the city streets, with good design and plenty of jumps and shortcuts. The vehicles themselves are also well created and you can find many of your favourite motors tuned up and ready to go, albeit under different names. The damage models for the cars are also good, similar to GTA3, and enhance the realism by ensuring that continual collisions will mean a sharp end to a race.As far as the gameplay goes it is both addictive and testing, the racers and the traffic causing a challenge in the successful completion of races. At times it can be a little frustrating when a near win is ruined by a car pulling out in front, or by clipping a lap post, but this just adds to the satisfaction when a race is completed.Overall a cracking game combining all the elements of a good racer with the atmosphere & vibe of lighting fast and exciting street racing. Freedom and continual play are also encouraged by cruise mode (a chance to drive free round the cities) and of course the online modes such as CTF.This game is a must buy provided your PC has the specs to support it, and will definitely appeal to Fast and the Furious fans, and racing lovers alike.

What can I say, Rockstar, creators of the famous GTA series, have kicked some more competitions butt. If you loved the GTA series, this game is much more than an add-on, extension, or continuation. If you have no driving skills and do not like racing games with FAST ,REALLY FAST, vehicles, than do not buy this game. If you think you will finish this game in one night....FORGET THAT. If you have no game pad or steering wheel, you will throw the game out in 5 minutes. I had to go out the next day and buy another game pad since I busted my first trying to keep up with the other racers. The only DOWNSIDE is the motorcycles views are crazy. If you like high speed bikes, over 340km/h,this game will have your eyes sore in ten minutes. The camera does move way too weirdly on the bikes and is really hard to see what is going on.I have finished only 70% in a period of 20 hours. Yes it is hard, yes it is fast, but this game will be replayed many times. Jumps, nitro, lights, and AI really keep the heart racing...Graphics are fab, sounds are cool, vehicles are plentiful and well varied, game play is tough, system requirements are heavy. I love this game, WELL DONE ROCKSTAR!!! NO PATCHES NEEDED.

This is an arcade type game and not a Sim.It is the ultimate fun where this type of racing games are concerned. The story is easy enough --Race and cruise .Graphics are excellent for its age and its a very underrated game.It supports keyboard game pad and wheel .In the game you visit major cities and race through them --again all with good detailed graphics.I bought two of these as you can make a private race online and race against who ever you want (I race against my son and he always wins lol)10/10 game in my opinion.
