Before playing the original Metroid Prime, I'd never touched a Metroid game before. It made me a fan of the series for good. The basic gist of these Metroid games for anyone new to them is that they are a mixture of puzzle-solving and blasting. You'll slowly make your way through rooms, unlocking doors and interacting with devices, and dispatching the odd few enemies. Very much like the Zelda games, except with a First Person Shooter feel (the perspective you play from is as if looking through the eyes of the main character). Now I've just finished off the final boss in Prime 3, I can honestly say that the Metroid Prime trilogy has got to be one of the greatest, most accomplished triligies in gamedom.Absolutely fantastic - the design teams did a great job of keeping up the quality and freshness throughout all three games, and giving each its own unique feel.Whilst in the other two games I felt complete solitude and aloneness in the vasts of space, Corruption made me feel like I was playing part of a team. I was still working alone, in the sense that there was nobody fighting by my side, but I was constantly aware of the other hunters and Federation Marines that were also out there on other planets fighting for the same cause as myself - this was due to the only very occasional voice transmissions I'd hear from other allies. This, I thought, was a welcome change from the originals. Oftentimes, I felt like I was the most powerful asset the Federation had on their side - thrilling. But despite that, I was every bit as vunerable to the dangers posed to everyone else as I was exploring the dangerous planets. The controls are just as good if not better than those in the GameCube entries - now you're able to point anywhere you like whilst moving around with the analog stick, thanks to the Wii's remote control device being able to sense where you're pointing. Motion controls are used sparingly, usually to interact with devices and switches on walls, by twisting, turning, and pushing, which makes it all the more satisfying when you do get to use the motion controls. I did notice that sometimes it'd fail to pick up the odd push or pull motion, but I'd just try it again and it'd work. You can also pull shields from enemies by tugging backwards - a neat addition.Puzzles are great - you'll often see areas and objects you can't interact with until you've acquired a certain ability. So you may have to study your map to see which rooms you haven't yet explored - unexplored rooms tend to hold the abilities or secrets you're looking for. Working out how to obtain these is all part of the challenge in Metroid games.Sometimes you'll also encounter 2D sidescrolling bits that you need to navigate in the form of a ball. Think of Sonic the Hedgehog when he's rolling around - it's much like that. These are fun sections that help to break up the gameplay and add a little bit of spice to the mix. They'll often link different sections of the world you're exploring together. The graphics are absolutely outstanding. I've played a couple of Xbox 360 games - and despite the Xbox having much more powerful graphics capabilities, Prime 3 holds up to them easily. It's worth noting I am playing both Xbox 360 and Wii on a non-HD TV set, however, and another aspect of this may be that the game pushes the boundary in another direction rather than purely raw graphical grunt - beautiful art direction. Planets are oozing with life and detail. Patterns adorn the walls of ancient buildings, and varying plant life is visible everywhere. I've noticed some clever particle and lighting effects that weren't possible in the GameCube Prime games, and the textures are much crisper, too. The scenes that play out as Samus lands her ship on new planets are a sight to behold. You'll explore a nice variety of locations - far more varied than the areas seen in Prime and Prime 2. Two areas I enjoyed in Corruption were what seemed like a floating palace in the sky - the detail in the architecture was amazing here - and and an abandoned space vessel that had been attacked and had previously been thought to be destroyed - only dead marines and malfunctioning electronics remained, creating a very spooky atmosphere.Sound is as you'd expect from the Prime games. It sets the mood - usually sounding very ambient. There are some nice melodies here, too - Skytown's music featuring a piano and synthesized choir (common in all the Prime games). One last thing - it does seem more linear than the original two games, and there's a little less backtracking to other worlds. You will, however, still be moving back and forth through rooms on a single planet to accomplish your missions, just like the previous Prime games. When you do backtrack to other planets here, it'll likely be because you've recieved a clue via a transmission - another thing that differs it from the other two Prime games. It's even a little easier than the previous two games.Another fantastic element in this game are the bosses. They're huge, and working out how to take them down is good fun. This is definately one of the best games on Wii. I'm now looking forward to Metroid: Other M - hope it lives up to the quality of Corruption.

Having seen an abundance of 5* reviews, FROM proclaimed Metroid Prime fans too, I was a little surprised to say the least-but read on before you decide what you think of this review.I'm NOT saying this is a bad game, I think it is excellent, especially if you've not played the first or second game, but this is a dramatically different Metroid Prime game from the first few.The game follows Samus Aran on her third mission, but I really don't want to go into the story as I feel almost any discussion regarding it is really a spoiler, but the story is fine. Now, the graphics seem like they should belong on Gamecube, not a next gen console, but thats not why we brought the wii-right.There are some nice touches though, particularly looking out into space at your space station, or watching the space pirates attacking. The level of detail in everything is particularly pleasing too-but as I say I was expecting that little bit more.So what about the game. Instead of it being a rather lonely experience, all of a sudden, Samus has an abundance of friends, all who help out from time to time, all bounty hunters with unique abilities. Don't get me wrong, it's OK, but Samus no longer feels as invincible as she did. It's also irritating for me, to be interupted so often by various cutscenes! Then there are all the human allies all over the place too-a bold jump and one I personally don't think works. The other issue is the lineality-you'll find the level design isn't as free as the other games-instead you'll feel yourself being guided, THEN theres the fact that instead of having to really work for your upgrades, that many of them are just lying around! 2 energy tanks, the grapple beam, and 2 missile expansion packs lie in open view. Consequentially, the game takes away exploration and the fact that you really have to work for it, but there are some excellent additons. The remote works really well, it's very intuitive. Then theres the fact that you're required to open doors via the remote, its really good. Then there is the new grapple ability to open doors with the nunchuk, throwing it at the screen and pulling back, and for taking the shields off enemies! Its actually really cool. There are many reasons why the game is better in some ways, including the use of your ship to travel from place to place, and the fact that you can summon it to specific locations is beautiful. The music in the game is also great. Finally, the new phazon suit is trully amazing! Entering hyper mode is great fun, and just really hammering everything is excellent. All in all, I can't work out why ardent fans are saying this is the best Metroid so far-the first was a revolution, echoes was revolutionary but this feels more like one step forward and one back-a great game for beginners but I feel ardent fans will be disappointed.

Oooo, finally, a Nintendo-published classic at a great price! This is my first foray into the Metroid franchise (shame on me...yes, yes, I know...) and I can really see why everybody gets so excited when one of these gets released (similar to a new Mario or Zelda-game). Having played my fair share of FPS-titles on the PC using mouse/keyboard combination, I was worried how this, dare I say, superior control set-up would translate onto the Wii-remote, and I am happy to admit that it works really well! After adjusted to the most sensitive setting in the controls-menu (recommended), I adapted quite easily to the new control scheme. Motion controls for grappling and handling objects work well most of the time, while aiming and moving the camera using the Wii IR pointer is smooth and responsive. Not a big fan of platforming sequences in FPS-games, but the double-jump implementation does save you major frustration in most cases. Everybody here has already mentioned the slick presentation and lovely visuals, so I won't go on about it myself, just to say that the art direction, specifically on the different planets, is truly top-notch. Happy that Nintendo decided to fully record voice-overs for this one (something I do miss in other Nintendo games like Zelda). Some of the sound-effects can be a bit cartoony (not fitting with the general serious tone of the game) while others are a bit boring and repetitive (default blaster weapon sound effect during a big battle just seems to drone on instead of adding to usually climactic battles). What I do want to mention specifically is the fusion of exploration/blasting/puzzle-solving into one cohesive style of gameplay that somehow seems to work marvelously here and can be extremely satisfying to figure out or pull off successfully. Truthfully I have gotten stuck on several occasions so far, either how to progress or how to beat a tough opponent, but a quick flick through my trusty walkthrough puts me back on track (so if you prefer your hand to be held by your video game entertainment, you might be put off a bit). But considering the now budget price, there is a lot of bang (or laser zap, in this case) for your buck here (I've been playing for over 15 hours and only completed about a quarter of the game...mmm, maybe I'm not as good at FPS as I imagined...). Would love to try the trilogy-package, however, this is still a good buy on its own especially at this low price.

When talking about Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, I can immediatly and without any doubt say that this is about the coolest, most fun experience i ever had in a FPS! And i say that as a person who usually isn't all that interested in futuristic shooter games. So why do I like this one so much? The greatest advantage this game has compared to any other FPS is the Wii motion controls. Not only is it very accurate and fun to be able to aim like that, it goes much further than the aiming of your weapon! Looking all around you, using switches for doors and the like (movements like pull-twist-push after grabbing a handle for example), throwing your nunchuk to cast a grappling hook and pulling it backwards to pull shields off enemies or remove debris,...There's numerous things that are controlled by actually perfoming the required movement, and that's what makes you feel more involved in the entire game experience.Apart from the motion controls, the gameplay also scores nicely in it's combination of a shooter game with puzzle elements, and it all gets abit of a Zelda feel to it. Certain doors won't open untill you've solved a puzzle or found a way around it, or simply untill you've got the right weapon or armor update to get you through. The storyline is decent and interesting as it evolves, and though the game it's pretty linear in progress, you do get the freedom of exploring any planet you wish at any given time, to try and uncover small rooms you couldn't enter before, or to get some little extras. It all keeps you busy, and there is alot to find, seeing how after my first completion of the game (storywise), i had only 60% game completion. The atmosphere created throughout the entire game has most of it to thank to the music. It's been a while since i've loved a soundtrack of any game as much as this one. It creates the perfect feeling around the setting that is outer space, with a good sence of mystery in pretty much any theme you'll hear.Want to get the ultimate Wii motion control sensation? Wanna play a good shooter that offers alot of gaming time and alot of satisfaction at thesame time? Get Metroid Prime 3, I've never loved playing a FPS as much as this!

Metroid Prime 3 is a great game to end the great triligy that started on the Gamecube, Although the basic game play is much the same the controll system is very much improved and allowes for a more action orentated game.So metroid prime is a adventure/explration/shooting game, there are many puzzles all over the world that must be solved in order to progress or to upgrade your suit and give it new functions. All the puzels will revolve around you using a visor(there are 3 one scans objects one can see through walls one can controll your ship and order it to bomb stuff such as walls) a wepon (as you progress you will be constantly upgrading your wepon some puzzles might invlove using a ice blastshot on a magnor waterfall inorder to freeze it you can then jump in the frozen waterfall and reach a higher area)or morphball(with the press of a buton you turn in to a ball)morphball puzzles are stuff like mazes mainly but lots of other intresting skill based stuff to do as you upgrade the morphball.Prime 3 has alot more action than the previous 2 games this is probably down to the superb first person shooter controlls this game easly proves that the Wii remote is far better for fps than standard analogue controlles, anyway there is alot of shooting to be done in prime 3 as space pirats are allover the place and the bosses just like the other games are excelent, you will need to first learn there patterns then figure out how to counter aganst them.if you are thinking of getting prime 3 (witch you should be)you have to take in to account that the game is pretty hardcore and is not a pick up and play for 20 mins every now and then type of game. if you put it down for too long you will forget what you were doing and where you are suppost to be going and if this happens it can spoil the game as it will then be hard to get back in to. This is what happend to me simply because i have too much on, back in 2003 i had loads of time on my hands i would give this game 5/5 but now i need a game that you can get in to more easly if you havent played in 2 weeks. but regardless this game is quality and everyone should atleast give it a go.

I never really got into the Gamecube Metroid games much, so I hesitated for a long time before deciding to try this one. It's turned out to be one of the best games I've played on any platform, I've played through is so many times, and still love going back to it.For those not familiar with it, it's an excellent FPS with some good puzzle, platforming, and exploration elements, but not so much that it stands in the way of the action. The combat sectiongs are probably the closest thing to the Halo series on the Wii, but the exceptionally well-implemented Wii controls make the controls feel so much better than any joypad-controlled FPS.It plays a bit differently from most FPSs though, with more platforming, puzzling, exploring, and a smaller number of tougher enemies, making you work harder to defeat them. The boss fights are exceptionally well-done, some of the most enjoyable boss-battles I've played in any game - but you do have to use strategy to defeat them, use your visor to scan the boss, and gain hints about weaknesses etc. - just using traditional FPS-style strafing and firing won't get you very far against most of the bosses. The graphics are amazing - not just technically (although it is probably the best looking game on the Wii besides Super Mario Galaxy) but also the effort that has gone into the design of buildings, enemies, levels, textures, artwork - it is truly beautiful to look at in places (the planet Elysia in particular), and the music is very good in places (again, Elysia stands out). It's less linear that most FPS's, you have a certain freedom to explore - there are gentle hints guiding you in the right direction, but on the 1st playthrough, you might sometimes find you're not 100% sure what to do next - it's the kind of game that from time to time makes you stop and think - but you can easily consult a walthrough, or look through the files you collect as you go through the game, giving you hints, as well as information and a quite-interesting background story of the long-extinct alien races who built the worlds you're exploring.

I love the controls on this game, though the first thing I did was make the B button into fire, and the A into Jump. The experience of the game is good, bad guys that don't just stand there and get shot all the time for instance. However, at times it goes into what I call pac man mode, where instead of playing FPS, you are just trying to move a ball along obstacle courses. One is just an annoying set of tubes that you have to get through, with spurts of steam that either send you where you want, or send you back the way you came. Do we really want this kind of rubbish in an FPS game? You cannot save games whenever you want in this, and each time you do it overwrites your previous saved game,so no going back that way. To save a game you have to go to specific places, one of them being your ship. The downside of this of course is that the levels are never that hard. To get around the business of not being able to keep old save games to go back to can easily be solved simply by copying the save games to another slot, you have 3 available, but this would mean no one else could use that slot then. Also you can back up the lot to an SD card so I am told.I like the graphics, though XBOX and PS3 users will tell you their's are much better, all I can say to that is, the Wii graphics are good enough, you pay extra for better graphics if you want. All in all, this shows how a good FPS game can run on the Wii, though it lags a long way behind classics like the Doom games. One of the things that let's Metroid down is that fact that it is a bit of a tunnel game. You HAVE to go through the levels in a certain way. Unlike Doom, that allows you to roam free a bit on most levels. All in all, I recommend Metroid, it is better than Halo, but not as good as Doom 3, Half Life, etc.

Nintendo and Retro-Studios certainly made the measured decision to delay this game for almost a year to create an experience, which, has been somewhat lacking on the Wii. We need no longer worry that Nintendo's new-gen baby is getting left behind in a mire of 3rd party shovel and crap ware...in comes Corrupted to do what RedSteel should have achieved at launch but just missed [it's still one on my favourite games for Wii!]Anyway back to this beauty. MP3's controls are the standout achievement for this game, with fluidity & responsiveness coupled with intuitiveness then it doesn't fail to subtly drag you hence into the battle ahead - beautifully crafted graphics and environments enhance theexperience to the point that you fall into where the designers and conceptual artists wanted you to be... it's that good at times!!Sound design is also of the highest level; as with the other titles in the trilogy; and here it doesn't detract from the overall immersive experience - although sound effects don't seem to "pop" as much as I remember in the others.Corruption's worlds have been designed with a more linear narrative path and less of the usual backtracking, presented previously. For both experienced MP'ers and noobs it certainly doesn't lack anything that the other games had in droves and has trimmed down the time-wasting if you like. Although it has to be said the normal difficultly level has been tailored for the latter and not the former type player. All in all I would say it's a better, albeit different, experience than even the mighty "Super Mario Galaxy" - MP3 gives a more satisfying experience and whilst not as innovative as SMG it's certainly more atmospheric. At last some quality on the Wii that originates with the Wii...

Retro Studios have done it again. In the 3rd and final game in the Prime series. This game is better than a sequal which was betetr than the original. Metroid Prime 3 has come far and it's controls are the most inovative as they have evr been. When compared to most FPS's mindless shooting and grenade throwing, this game looks like Albert Einstein. There's just so many things to do in this game. By the time you've completed it all, you'll want to do it again. This very addictive game should be the NO#1 Wii game ever. Strangers to the Prime series are best playing the first 2 games before they even attempt this. But unfortunately, Restro studios had to make us suffer. There is NO multiplayer.Which is really dissapointing. After Metroid was shown to be so capable of great multiplayer in Metroid Prime Hunters, thsi game has only the single player adventure. Which is dissapointing if you fancied blowing up your friends as Ghor or Gandrayda. But another of it's weak points, the stoy mode is just way too short. There are 5 planets in this game which is more than Hunters but the planets in Prime 3 aren't nearly as big as Hunter's.The amount of enemies and upgrades in this agme are aplenty which is common in all Metroid games. Fans of the series should already know all about that. I pity the people who don't have this game and I urge them to buy it.This game is incredably fun and is definately worth buying. It may no be as good as Halo 3 but it's still the grandaddy of all FPSs. So BUY IT!

Metroid prime 3 is a nearly perfect game with amazing controls, i cannot stres that enought. Not even just the aiming, every little detail is controled flawlessly. As i've said, the aiming is exelant, but this is important, SET THE SENSITIVITY TO ADVANCED MODE. i was seeing everywhere i looked " the aiming has raised the bar for console first person aiming ". i was thinking WHAT! on normal the controls are averge if a bit anoying, but switch to advance and get used to it, the control is amazing, im not going to go in-depth about it partly becuase i cant be bothered and partly because thats all i need to say.but now on to the accual game.Metroid prime 3 is a first-person adventure game, not a shooter, sure it has the FPS controls down but is deeper with puzzles and less boring than a shooter. Ofcourse the lack of wi-fi is anoying (not including the achievment swapping to unlock small bonuses) especcialy since the ds version's was so good. on normal mode the game is not as challenging as i would have liked (playing on normal mode) and ive beat the game %100 with ease. The graphics in some places are stunning, in others the cube might have had a pretty decent stab at them.My conclusionMetroid prime 3 is just that, metroid prime 3. it has evoled the series in a striaght line. Pardon the new controls, it has added new levels, new bosses ect, rather than shooting for the stars ala mario galaxy.A nigh-on perfect metroid exsperience, and an essentail for every wiimy conclusion

I received my copy of this game first thing this morning, Friday, and couldn't wait to get my chores done so I could sit down and start playing it. I finally did at 12:30 lunchtime. It's now 02:49, Saturday. Admittedly I've had to have breaks to make the tea, feed and play with the pups, walk the dogs etc, the usual stuff, but all the while I've been itching to get back on the game. I've had to MAKE myself come up to bed or I'd have been at it all night. This game is certainly addictive. It's reminiscent of a mixture of Half Life and Project Eden - both on PS - and I loved both for different reasons. Metroid Prime 3 takes the best of both and melds them perfectly. The controller and nunchuck are excellent tools for this game. For example, I love the way you turn handles or throw the grappler and yank it back (I won't say how), to name a couple.I expected the puzzles to be harder but I didn't expect to have to kill so many 'creatures'. It can get quite intense at times. The bosses so far have been pretty simple to work out but I'm hoping that will change.Thank goodness this game came along because I was seriously thinking of getting rid of my Wii (I've only had it a couple of weeks) due to all the kiddie games and sticking to my Playstation. There's just not enough of this genre as of yet but if this game is a sign of what's to come I think I'll hang onto it for a while longer. This is a MUST BUY if you want to get your teeth into to some real action.

OK, I'll try to make this review as concise and to-the-point as possible; BUY THIS GAME.Graphics: Superb. Everything has massive detail, runs in smooth 60fps, and this game is quite the best example of superb art direction I have EVER seen.Sound: I would say this has the best music in any Metroid title yet. Also, there's voice acting! Whilst it's no Metal Gear Solid, it's actually pretty good, and miles better than the corny narration in Metroid Prime 1.Gameplay: Possibly the best use of the wii-mote/nunchuck yet. With adjustable sensitivity, this is everything Red Steel wishes it was. The only problem comes the Wii-motes crappy D-pad, and the use of the - and + buttons. However, these are just minor blemishes, you get used to them very quickly.Lifespan: This took me about 10 hours and 24 minutes on my first playthrough with no faqs or such, and, (as anyone who loves the Prime series knows), this is WAY too short. The game is short, easy, but still pure brilliance, like some kind of amazing roller-coaster ride.Notes: This game sacrifices some Metroid elements, such as complete issolation, and complete non-linearity. However, there is increased focus on being part of a 'world', full of characters, and a new narrative and cinematic structure, making Prime 3 feel unique, refreshing, and throughly modern. Pure brilliance.

graphics- amazing as alwayssound - perfectcontrols - get the hand of quicklygameplay- very in-depth quite challenging but very rewarding, brilliant ideasthe game on normal is fairly taxing at times, cant wait to try veteranlength- goes on for hours literally agesyou cant knock this game, it is perfect for the hardcore gamer. dont complain if you did'nt save or you cant beat the bosses, its your own fault, the game offers enough help with the different visors etc and misssion set for youthis is a truley amazing game and its a shame it ends with this oneone thing i would say is some people may get annoyed that it is too "techy" you never used to have to move your ship round(which is awsome i may add)but it is not the same as super metroid etc just get the feeling people wont like thatalso like the old games, when you get a new beam weapon you keep it, metroid prime 1 and 2 you could change, but you cant do that anymore which is a bit lamebut hypermode wasnt used enough in prime 1 and 2(barley ever in 2) but my god, if you love killing things ,hypermode and hyper missile, its just amazing, should use up less of your phazon amount though so you can destroy crowds of enemies with easebuy this game now because it is the best game out there for the hardcore nintendo fan , non of this MOH turd

Being new to the world of consoles MP3:C is my first real experience of 'First Person Shooters' and I can't really compare it to any other similar games (a couple of goes on Doom back in the 90's doesn't really count). I can only review it on its own terms. On this basis it comes across as a solid game of its type. The graphics, whilst they never were going to compete with PS3 quality, are fine for what is essentially a shoot-em up. The game makes good use of the Wiimote and the Nunchuk (I love flinging the grapple using the latter) and the controls are easy enough to master. The combination of action and puzzle solving keeps things from becoming stale or too repetitive. If there are flaws they're minor. The perspective offered by the on-screen view can make it hard to place yourself relative to other objects, which can make tricky maneouvers harder. Sometimes the interface gets confused and leaves you unable to target or fire, and its impossible as far as I can tell to skip the animated sections between levels (even if you've seen them before).Apart from those niggles however MP3:C is great, action packed game. Be warned however, it is challenging and is not aimed at the casual family gamer. There is also no 2 player option, so not the best choice for those who want to play in groups.

Metroid Prime 3 is the game every Wii owner should have. It is the best game on the Wii. The controls do feel a bit unusual to start off with, but you'll find yourself shooting enemies left, right and centre when you get used to the controls. The Wii is designed for first person shooter games, and Metroid Prime 3 is the game that proves this.My favourite weapon of the game has to be the grapple hook. With the Nunchuck, you throw it at the screen, activating your grapple hook. And then pull the Nunchuck back and your grapple hook does the same, taking along whatever it is attached to. I love doing it whenever I get the chance to.My favourite boss of the game is near the start of the game. You find yourself falling down a shaft and you have a readout which shows how far it is to the bottom; that is how long you got to beat the boss. The game itself looks fantastic, rather than being situated on one planet, you have several and the odd spaceship to explore. Scanning is another key role in this game. Scanning is the only way to learn enemies weakenesses. You also get to learn about some of the history about some the of the races you will encounter. There is one downside to this game though, at some point the game will end. But you'll love every single minute of playing this game.
