If you are new to Metal Gear Solid, and love shooting people left right and centre in games, this game might take some getting used to. In fact if you have a bloodlust for killing people then perhaps the MGS series may not be for you. But I can say that the series of games as a whole are intelligent, heart pounding and tactical action of the highest standard. And contains cinematic node in its cut scenes and and action. Hideo Kojima right deserves all the plaudits he gets.Into the games featured in MGS V (Metal Gear Solid 5), Ground Zeroes lays down parts of the story from previous adventures in the MGS timeline....as Kojima has tended to jump around in time in the series to final reach a point where there's a full story. The gameplay for hard-line grinding gamers will find the gameplay short on time if you go hard at it. But don't let that put you off. There are more than 5 missions to achieve perfection, with normal and hard settings to complete. Raiden appears in the game (a long standing character in the MGS game series) and if you're good enough to rescue hostages, find clues, sneak past or knock out soldiers and earn S rankings...then you can add special items to the next MGS V game. The Phantom Pain contains many twists, turns and a massive selection of weapons to develop. You meet a silent assassin who can either be your foe or be a friend in the battlefield. Online stealing of other players bases also is an option to further your own bases later in the game. Not to mention growing your own army, saving prisoners and being Snake....the best sneaking bad ass soldier you'll ever meet. The game will test your and is well worth it. Don't for one second doubt this review...I'm not being paid by anyone to say all of this. I've played all the MGS series apart from MGS 4 and I can't recommend MGS V enough. This is the last game that Hideo Kojima wrote and directed before a massive falling out with Konami. So this is his Opus in a way. Buy it. Play it. Love it...then try the others in the MGS and you'll begin to understand why a man creeping past bad guys in a cardboard box can be the most thrilling thing you can do with your clothes on....well... almost...!

This game is truly phenomenal. Vast in scope, beautiful to behold, easy the play, hard to master, absorbing, uber violent ( if you want it to be ) or super stealthy ( if you want it to be). There's a great base building mechanic in the game, and a mini game where you have to kidnap enemy soldiers to man your base. Character development is fascinating as are all the wonderful toys and skills you get. The game is based over two vast maps of Afghanistan and Africa in 1984 during all the political and military turmoil that was occurring at the time.Eccentricities abound, as you would expect from a Kojima game. This is definitely his best Metal Gear work, and I've played them all so I know !I cannot recommend this stealth game, shooter game, base developing game, staff management game, multi player PVP game ( if you want) or single player game...or do a mix of both. It's all there for you. Plus there are so many little secrets about the game play that you'll probably have to trawl the internet to discover, this game is oceans deep with a richness of experience you will never forget.A complex story ( as you'd expect) with interesting characters through out. As I said in my opening line a truly absorbing experience. Some 50 mission and over 150 side missions as well as the ability to free roam and do whatever you wish. A true experience I shall never forget, and one I shall go back to in a year or two, probably on another system, just to experience it all again. Wholly and highly recommended. My Game of the year for 2020, even thought it came out in 2015 !

The Big Boss returns for The Phantom Pain. This addition is a prequel to the main story of the previous games. This game is huge. Any open world fan will love the freedom this game offers. Missions are varied for the most part however, there is an element of repetition involved. Missions are presented in an information only basis leaving you to plan and execute the mission how you see fit. If an all out attack with guns blazing is what you seek then you can equip and do so. If you prefer a more stealthy approach you can sneak in and out without leaving a trace. I enjoy that you are not restricted to a certain type of gameplay. The story unfolds fairly slowly to begin with but fans will love references and characters from their younger days.Graphics are also a very big feature. The cinematic alongside the location designs can literally make you stop just to admire the details and finesse put into this game. I am a bit gutted that this was Kojimas last game. The guy was a visionary that created a unique universe which so many people loved being inside. I hope Konami can keep this magic going forward

I do not really review games but I have to say this is the best game I have played in a very long time, and I have been a gamer since the Atari days. The graphics are outstanding, the AI is perfect, the story is superb, and the playability is fantastic. I love this game. It is so easy to pick up and just do a quick mission, or go online and quickly invade someone for good rewards.A word of caution though, you do need to be connected for it to save your game, but a basic connection will suffice.I found this out the hard way after an initial 8 hour session only to go back the next time and having to start all over again, which to be fair was not really an issue as the game is that good you can play it over and over.It is a long game and will take weeks to finish, unlike some other corporate COD games that just want your money, for 6 hours of gameplay.

I got this for my birthday, and have been playing metal gear solid since 1998.MGS2 was my favorite, but it has strong contest with this game.Since this is kojimas very last metal gear production, it is incredible and you can tell he really pulled out all the stops to make surehis last game of the franchise would be a winner.I have spent over 25 hours playing game so far and I am only at 18% completion, this game rules!!

Growing up I wasn't a huge MGS fan, but this has great reviews so thought why not.Ground zeros was worryingly short, making me think I had been duped. Little did I know that it was pretty much a prelude to The phantom pain which engrossed my life for 100+ hours. Great storyline and great gameplay

Amazing game but at the end of every mission you are reminded about the g0d "hideo kojima" is a little, just a little annoying!!
