I bought this for my 20 month old child and he loves it. As toys go, it's comfortable enough for him to lift, and present to me to open up for him to play with. It rolls over easily so he can turn it around to find the corresponding holes. He's learning quickly which shapes go into which holes and it's bright and colourful and fun. I've nkt noticed any problems with the paint or finish quality. My only comment for improving it, is the stopper in the top. It's plastic and needs an adult to open or close it by forcing it on. This lid stopper piece also has a semi circle hole which is for one of the shapes. I actually think this is superfluous,

I bought this wooden sorting & stacking board for my 18 month old twins, even though the recommended age is 2 years old. Both boys started by putting any colour and shape on any wooden pin, but as I demonstrated how to sort with the shapes and colours correctly, they soon started doing it correctly too. They took maybe a month at the most to show this skill. I now ask, "can you give me the red one", for example, and they are beginning to respond to this sort of request. Eventually, I will be asking if they can give me the green circle, or the yellow triangle. The wooden pieces are well painted, but my boys don't tend to bite them. I think these wooden pieces are of good quality,

We bought this as a 2nd birthday present for my son but actually could have used it much earlier (15 - 18 months?). He immediately grasped the concept of sorting the shapes onto the different pegs, so it hasn't been that challenging for him. My son doesn't play with it much on his own, but enjoys playing with me when I ask e.g. can you find another blue square, which one is the triangle, etc. My husband pointed out that the number of sides of each object matches the number of items there are (e.g. 4 sides to a square, 4 squares) which I thought was quite clever! Hoping to get loads more use in the future as my 4 month old daughter grows up.

I actually bought this as a present for a friends son, but I have similar M&D products for my own child. This toy takes children through a numer of developmental skills, (I believe), from picking up different shaped objects, placing them on the pegs, sorting by colour/shape.... I am told my friend's son loves the toy!The only tiny complaint i have is that the wood appears to be a soft wood, which my daughter has managed to chew through (teething) and some of her pieces (in the shape sorting cube) have splintered and been taken away for now. Having said this, it wouldnt prevent me buying more M&D products.Good old fashioned wooden toys - I do not think you can beat them, splinters and all...

I bought this for my son's first birthday. He enjoys playing with it. I find the quality fine despite what some may have said in their reviews. There are no chips to the wooden box of blocks and all blocks have a good even coat of paint on them. The blocks fit well through the holes they're supposed to. The lid does slide in and out easily. Some people have noted this as a criticism but I find it good as my son would struggle with a stiff lid. I've never seen it bother him that it's so easy to remove. If the blocks fall out... sure, more fun putting them back!Anyhoo... I like this and thought it was good value. The one I have has no problems and on that basis I'd recommend it.

I would highly recommend the Shape Sorting Cube toy as a good quality toy. I purchased it as a gift for my grandson's first birthday, the toy was a bit too advanced for him but that didn't stop him playing with the coloured shapes... I think that once he understands that the coloured shapes fit into the coordinating holes this toy will be played with all the time (incidentally, his older brother who is almost 3 understood what he had to do with the shapes and he really loved the toy. Lots of lovely bright colours and no nasty sharp corners. I was very pleased with my choice and also very pleased with the price which was much, much cheaper than the RRP of this toy. Thank you.

just received the cube, its light, thus great for kids, the blocks are solid.honestly after reading few reviews I did not expect much, but I was nicely surprised.my cube has a sliding wall, so I does not open unwanted, I reckon you need to be lucky to buy the right cube from a right seller, as for me its A+, can't fault it...most importantly my daughter likes it and she gets exited when blocks makes noise when pushed insideits also well designed because no blocks can go inside unless they are placed in the right hole (I tried!!!!) as some other sorters allow you to cut corners...its great value for money as I paid under £10 including postage..

This puzzle is brimming with colourful, three-dimensional gorgeousness! Each shape is a different size; on some pieces the size difference is obvious, on others it is more subtle. You can slot the shapes inside the corresponding shapes; or sort by shape, size and colour; or build with them. The size is chunky and the quality is - as you would expect from Melissa and Doug - very durable.I only have two small beefs with this item. Firstly, the Melissa and Doug logo rubs off easily. Secondly, the wood inside some of the shapes is unpleasantly rough to touch.

I bought this toy for my daughter aged 20 months and she loves it - she spends ages putting the pieces back on the pegs and has now figured out colour groupings and loves sorting the different colours and then putting all the coloured pieces on the correct pegs.It seems pretty durable so far (has been thrown around quite a lot) and its nice bright colours too. Only downside is that its not so great to store as it doesn't come in a box or anything but thats the same for most toys out there! I would definitely recommend this toy.

i brought this for my 2 year old niece, it was great fun building towers with, but she is a little too young to do the puzzle, but obviously she will grow to learn. Educationally, it's great for shapes, sizes, colors and problem solving, one minor confusion is the colors of one set. one set is red and orange, whilst the others are two shades of the same color. The other comment to make is, that there is no box or storage for the puzzle, so unless you've got a shelve to put it on, your probably loose all the pieces in a toy box.

We bought this as a gift for a 10 month old with the view he could play with it when he gets older. While not able to shape sort yet he was fascinated by the shape blocks which are the perfect size for little hands and he seems to really enjoy putting them in and taking them out of the box (not through the shape holes, obviously). This toy has developmental longevity which is great! The toy is made from good quality materials and the block paints are bright and safe for babies to suck on. Recommended!

I purchased this for my 17 month old back in May and it has been a massive hit since it arrived! A month later and he has learnt which shapes go where and it is definitely one of his favourite toys. There is a lot of potential with the toy as it helps to teach motor skills, shape sorting, colours and counting. It is also very well made with safe rounded edges, I'd definitely recommend this toy to anyone looking for a good quality shape sorter ?

Our daughter managed to keep getting enjoyment from this stacker for a year between 1 and 2. It has helped with her fine motor control and understanding of shape, colour and sorting in general (obvs) and as expected from Melissa and Doug, the thing is beautifully made and finished. We recently upgraded her to their 10 shape stacker which is even better for a growing mind and bought one of these for a friend's 1yr old. I gather she loves it too.

Some of the finish on this isn't as good as I expected - little bits of glue showing. But that aside the toy is as i expected - great for helping little ones to recognise colour, shape, size and order.I don't often buy new toys (NCT sales,charity shops, and boot sales all the way)and spent a little more on this than I would have liked, also I had not seen one like this before, - as it was for christmas - and overall im happy with it :))

I bought this for my daughters 1 year old birthday after going through an obsession with wooden toys. Lots of different way of playing with this. At first she enjoyed just slotting the shapes on, now at 15 months she actually matching the colours to the stick. I imagine later we can use it to teach her counting and shapes. Looks great as well on her toy shelf. Has been chewed/thrown all over the place and still in great condition.
