I echo the sentiments of another reviewer that this was a little bit of a nightmare to put up and between two of us it took a good 40minutes although we did have around 20 children trying to get inside and play during its construction. We also chose to put it up on one of the hottest days so far and so I echo the other reviewer that this was put up with a lot of sweat, blood and tears so to speak. The instructions are easy enough to follow but the part we had a problem with is getting the main structure up without parts collapsing whilst we were inserting the various tabs and despite following the instructions we managed to pop the roof on back to front.Needless to say it does still work with the roof back to front and once we realised there was no chance we were taking it off and turning it around so the speaker bit is on the back instead of the front on ours. One niggle is that the wheel goes on after the main structure has been built which involves crawling inside to attach it.The attention to detail is however brilliant and well worth the effort for the role play that the children have been able to do with the van and it even comes with a little billboard sign and the wheel inside turns (this has come off a few times and had to be popped back on though).Access to the van is via the rear door and there are two sunroof windows on top along with open windows and hatches around the van. We have taken this into class and at one point there was 8 children inside to give you an idea of its size but we have had to limit how many go inside to ensure the van isn't overstretched.I would say you need a fair bit of space if purchasing this for your home but for a pre-school or reception/first year school class this is absolutely fantastic.

This corrugated playhouse is an improvement on plastic waste produce which is a real bonus on the mass production of waste plastic, especially in the toy industry (I despise plastic, it fee's cheap & tacky). It doesn't say of its recyclable but it should be as its just cardboard. I'm very happy about this as I've wanted to get a playhouse for a long time but al' were plastic. It took me about an hour to assemble, the instructions are not bad&its very difficult. I did get a few paper cuts along the way & they also provide a was soap which is advised to apply along the edges so children don't hurt themselves (they also state to reapply later if needed). It's cute & can be easily decorated to your own taste,I'm intending to add some light hangings, some stickers etc inside to make for a magical play time. ?I love that it has one side a burger van & another side an ice cream van. Its great for boys who love cars. It's a little expensive for some cardboard but some amount of care has been taken into the design as for details & children love that.

I love that this isn't plastic but it offers a decent play house without the commitment to buying a wooden one. It's fairly tall compared to other similar type toys which is great for us as the kids are definitely on the lanky bean pole side of tall for their young years! The van doesn't come with pretend food for either side but these can be bought to fit in with the style or you can use existing play food, have fun making some with the kiddies or else just use good old imagination food.Who doesn't love choosing their own ice cream? Big brothers are going to enjoy the burger van side as they're much more into their biking, trucks and hot dog stands at present, although I'm certain they will all love playing out imagination stories with all aspects of this. It's lovely to see kids play without a screen in front of them!Only downside is that it doesn't seem to be biodegradable and for the price I'd have hoped it would be a market leader in sustainable play. If I discover any information on this I will update the review

This would be great for kids who want to be a firefighter when they grow up. It would possibly be good in preschools and nurseries if it wasn't so prone to giving paper cuts. The wax provided helps a little to avoid these. It would be great if the inside was also printed so it wasn't just white walls inside. This held up well with normal play but did encounter some rips when I tried to disassemble. It is lots of roleplaying fun and there is a lot of detail on the outside. We liked that the steering wheel moved. It is quite large so make sure you have the space necessary for it to fit and set it up in the room you want to play with it in because it won't go through doors without some squishing.Ibelieve this product could do with a price reduction or some improvements to meet the expectation of a product of this priceHANDY TIP: if you need to disassemble it make sure you do everything in exactly reverse order. It also helps to have 2 people.

A real treat for my granddaughter but a real trial for me! The main thing is my granddaughter loves it. It looks good and serves its purpose and is robust enough to last for a few months if we’re careful, maybe longer. It’s made of corrugated cardboard and was a bit of a pain to put together. We already have play food, kitchen equipment etc so it’s just a case of moving stuff into the truck when she wants to play with it.My advice would be to make sure you have room for this. My granddaughter’s only an occasional visitor so we can park it in the garage or conservatory but if you’re a parent and have limited room because of the mountain of toys you already have, then this will probably be in the way!I do like the idea. It brings a sense of realism to play and allows the kids to experiment. Just make sure they don’t destroy the thing!Overall it’s a great adventure machine and I recommend it.

As the uncle that is tasked to put everything together, I had the displeasure of assembling this Melissa & Doug Food Truck Playhouse. It's made out of corrugated cardboard so can't be that hard. Right? Wrong! To say this was a nightmare to assemble is perhaps an understatement. It took me well over an hour. I'm left soothing the many paper cuts to my hands and a swearing jar full of cash.As much as I hated putting this together, it all seems worth it in the end as I sit here writing this review and watching my two happy nephews playing inside with their dogs queueing up at the serving windows for treats.Would I buy another one of these? Probably not! Well, certainly not at full price as the cardboard really isn't the best quality. If you do buy this, put some gloves on!I've added a photo, although it wasn't quite finished.

My daughters (3 & 5) are obsessed with playing “ice cream shops” so this is absolutely perfect for them. It comes flat-packed in a long flat box with instructions on how to assemble the corrugated cardboard. I found the instructions simple enough to follow and only really got briefly stuck once. Assembly took about half an hour. The attention to detail is great with little features such as wing mirrors, petrol cap, and a loudspeaker on top. There are no toy ice creams or anything like that included but we have plenty of that kind of thing. It will probably have to live in the garden - we’re yet to see how it fares in the rain but it does come with a lump of wax to rub along the edges to help it last a bit longer.Presumably once we’re done with it we’ll be able to add to our recycling which is good.

Beautiful role play item, intricately detailed and crafted.Clear precise instructions although some of the pieces were difficult to locate as they were attached to the main body of the van - for example the windows held a number of peripheral pieces.Requires at least two people for assembly in order to hold the larger pieces in place while they are slotted together.Small but adequate internal space in which to play.I am pretty sure it isn't going to last very long with the high spirited children we encounter but it is an amazing addition to role play while it lasts.

My 4 year old loves role playing in this ice cream/ burger van. It does take quite a long time to build (at least an hour) but the step by step instructions are easy to follow. As it is made from cardboard it is quite easy for bits to rip so it is worth putting tape over the joins to make it stronger. It is also important to make sure you have plenty of room for it (and build it in the room where it will be) as it is large. I would recommend getting toy ice creams/ bbq food too to improve the play experience.

This Melissa &Doug Food Truck is very good and colourful and brilliant for kids, but really really hard to set up and build, the carboard make very hard to put them together, you have to be careful don't cut yourself with the cardboard. Then when is ready looks good, they have some lovely details like menus, pictures of Ice creams, the speaker on the top is very cool. Kids really like it to go inside and is resistant they stay. We are going to paint the name of the kids on the front of the track

There is a small fan of the cartoon fireman guy who is beside himself with this. The joy on his face to find his own fire engine in the living room was a joy to behold.Yep it’s made of heavy duty cardboard type material but is easy to put up and so far has been study enough to withstand some significant playing in! There are interactive elements and the design is bright and clever. I don’t know how long it will last with robust playing but at the moment it is a massive hit.

Few things can stand up to rambunctious toddlers. This lovely playhouse is looking rather worse for wear. But it's still standing. It was quite easy to assemble, there was some swearing but nothing excessive. It's very colourful and looks lovely. Yes it had been played with as an ice-cream truck but it's been a train, a spaceship and a tank. Not bad for cardboard. It's not going to last forever, after it's made of paper but whilst it's standing it's fun.

A sturdy playhouse which is an ice cream van one side and burger van the other. It comes flat-packed and the card is thick and sturdy . It is fairly easy to set up as all the pieces are big. The detailing is precise and well thought out. I prefer this playhouse to the thin plastic ones that we used to buy. This will provide hours of role play over the summer holidays and the grandchildren and I will make burgers and ice cream to make it even more real.

This was actually a little bit complicated to put together! We are loyal fans of Melissa and Doug products so were sad when this didn’t last as long as we had hoped. It is massive which is a plus. I fit in it with both my rowdy boys. Our 3 and 1 year old thought this was super amazing and therefore destroyed it within 48 hours with their excitement! Lol. It is great value for money, perfect for a staycation day at home.

My kids just love this. It's a good size so they can both get in and play. Ice cream sold one side and a burger van the other keeps both happy. Well made and sturdy it's going to last a long while. Fairly easy to put together but make sure there are 2 of you as some of the pieces are large so it's good to have someone hold them in place whilst you attach the flaps.
