The Melissa & Doug Wooden Chef’s Pretend Play Toy Kitchen With “Ice” Cube Dispenser – Cupcake Pink/White arrives in a sturdy box and it is heavy, so note the weight of this item. I am used to DIY and have put up many cupboards and draws, you will need time, patience and some time available to put this together, allow yourself two hours for assembly and that should do the trick. I followed the plan exactly and the finished result is a nice good product that is robust and consist of much intricate detail. The children enjoyed this kitchen set and the various components that make this up, there has been good attention to detail and the overall concept design. This is a good play set that will inspire and occupies time and imagination of younger children. You can buy additional items for this kitchen play set if you want to purchase more items, some careful thought into purchase is sure to provide longtime benefit. The item price is variable but you should expect to pay around £149 or thereabouts, this is clearly aimed at children 3 years or more. If considering this is a good play set and our children enjoyed this, I consider this a good value children toy play set.

First off - the package is big and heavy. If you're considering it for someone else's children, it would be better to get it delivered directly to them. Also, although it is relatively simple to put together, don't have children around while you're doing it. You also need top think where you are going to put it; you won't be making & breaking it on a regular basis. If you have a room dedicated as a playroom, then no problem.Once assembled, this is a really sturdy and detailed bit of kit - and will give lots of fun. The ice-cube maker is an element that seems to be really enjoyed. One warning, ensure your child knows they're allowed to turn the dials only on the pretend kitchen, not your real one - we had our real one reprogrammed in the middle of cooking a meal, and I had to frantically find the manual to reset it before the meal was ruined. However, don't let the caveats put you off. This is a really good way of interacting with your child, and it's also amusing seeing two children use it together (very seriously and mostly cooperatively). A really good item that should also last a while.

We have the black and grey one, which is partly for our own selfish reasons (we want it to go with the kitchen) and it's subtle, but detailed and a good size. It's very well thought out with places to put toy food and functional doors and a pretend microwave. It's all safe, the doors don't slam, the edges are as soft as they can be for wood - it's been well designed and well thought of.Building it was relatively simple, you will need a screwdriver and some time as it does take a while with quite a few parts. The instructions are clear, it's just a bit fiddly. It's a heavy thing as well, just as advice i'd build it in the room you intend it to live, and also expect it to be bigger than you think - taller, mostly. The weight of it I think comes from it being coated chipboard, and quite a few pieces of it.Overall, I really like it. I've seen a similar one in Ikea for £60 that's also wood, but the attention to detail on it isn't as refined as this. If you want to get a nice looking toy kitchen that's not plastic, this is one of the best ones i've seen.

From the Melissa and Doug range of children's toys, this funky kitchen set is I guess, aimed at children between 4 and 7. Older than that and in my experience, kids tend to be gravitating away from pretend play and into a new pre adolescent age which is more into computers, smart phones and digital experiences. The set is heavy and large so if you are not buying online and having it delivered to your door then it might be a struggle to get it into your vehicle. After saying that, once home, it goes together fairly straightforwardly and feels a quality item.Measurement wise, once set up it is about 1 metre square so a fair size when considering which room it will go in.In a kids bedroom it will take up a lot of space so make sure you have the room. The makers advise that it includes..' oven, stove, microwave, sink, refrigerator with working ice dispenser, freezer, ice maker "ice cubes," and dials which turn, microwave plate which spins, grocery check list, movable hooks, and doors which open and close 'All in all, a lot for your money.

This is a really solid, well built and good looking kids toy. It's very straight forward to put together, and is actually good fun to build. There's loads of interesting kbobs/buttons, opening doors, a fridge, a microwave ..... it's as close as to a real kitchen as you can get. It is quite bulky and quite heavy, so you're going to need a bit of space; it's a two person job to move once built. And not something you're going to put up and down; once it's up it's up.We had an older version which the kids played with for years and years ..... it has great longevity. I love the way it's been upgraded to a modern design that the kids will actually recognise as a kitchen!

This is a great toy for any young fan of Bake Off or similarly themed show. The kitchen comes flat packed in a heavy box like something you'd pick up from Ikea and needs assembly which is quite daunting when you lay all the individual pieces out on the floor. Thankfully it is fairly easy to put together and the young one will no doubt be delighted with the finished product although you're going to need quite a big living area or a dedicated play space to keep it in. Imagine the looks of excitement on your offspring's faces on Christmas morn as they fight over who's going to be Jamie and who's is going to be sweary Gordon. No chip pan included, sadly.

Daughter loves her kitchen. Been a few weeks now and it's still standing. Love the ice cube touch. Would've been nice to have a telephone. She's a tall three year old but she doesn't tower over the kitchen. It's big but not extremely bulky and long so doesn't take up too much space.I put it together by myself.... took me 4 hours, because I stop started. The instructions were very easy to follow and i had everything. The back is fiddle and the shelves kept dropping after insertion but finally got it in and all secured.Would recommend.

This play kitchen is the best of the best. The size is ideal for 4-8 years and the quality is incredible. It's solid as a rock thanks to its build quality and included anti-rock feet. Cabinets and doors open and close smoothly and lock in to place when closed. The style is modern and life-like rather than the cartoonish style of most play kitchens.Excellent value for money when you consider other play kitchens in this play range - I've had genuine kitchens built less well than this kitchen. 10/10

I was optimistic about how sturdy this kitchen would be, turned out to be a fantastic buy, it’s strong and not cheap wood, it’s very heavy so assemble in the area where child will be playing. Took couple hours to assemble, just couple glitches here and there but nothing we couldn’t handle, would have been nice if it had a couple interactive sounds built in, but was looking for something sturdy.. and I can imagine this lasting us a while.

This is a lovely high quality play set. It comes as flat pack and is heavy - it needs two people to move it around. Takes about two hours to put together. Vibrant colours and excellent quality wooden parts as pictured in the review at home and loved by the two little ladies who now call it theirs! A wonderful present and bound to stand the test of time!

This is a fab play kitchen. Our almost 2 year old loves it! She plays with it all day. The ice cube dispenser is great. Easy to assemble with clear instructions and felt good quality. We like that it isn’t gender specific as it’s in our playroom. All her friends live playing with it too including the boys. Space to add a washing machine too.

This was a Christmas gift for our 20 month old granddaughter who is delighted with it. The kitchen provided many hours of interactive fun for the whole family.Well made ( some effort but simple to assemble) and well thought out . A great buy with many years of use .

This kitchen is excellent. There is a lot to put together but all the parts have letters on them so you can tell what part is what. The attention to detail is lovely and it is very sturdy. I expect it to last a long time, good quality.

It is constructed like a real mini sized kitchen, it is easy to assemble but takes time. Our toddlers should love it. It would have been good if it had come with some accessories
