This is colourful, very pretty and actually much sturdier than you'd imagine. I'd expected something quite flimsy that would just be suitable for indoors - not at all. It's made of good quality material that will stand up to some punishment, the fabric being similar to that used on waterproof jackets. It's encouraging to see a toy for active whole body play that acknowledges that such toys can appeal to those who like pretty things. There are a couple of nice touches that really add to the play value of this tunnel. The fabric 'door' is removable and re-attachable with velcro straps so that it can transform from a crawl tunnel into a den and vice - versa. Having somewhere safe to hide away plays a huge role in pretend play. The patterning of hands and knees in crawling is a gross motor skill that helps to promote co-ordination.On rainy days indoors timing a toddler's fast crawls through a tunnel can be a great way of getting them to burn off excess energy. It provides a safe secure den without the hassle of erecting a wendy house or having to store a large cardboard box One of the best things is this just takes seconds to compress, fold up and put away, and takes up hardly any storage space. With autumn and winter restricting opportunity for gross motor skills play out of doors, this could prove a really worthwhile acquisition.

The tunnel is made of strong synthetic material with lots of lovely bright pink, green and yellow colours piped around it. The butterfly motifs are easily attached to each end with velcro tape but my grandchildren preferred not to have them attached. I was surprised that my grandsons didn't complain that it was too pink because they usually associate pink with belonging to the girls but they didn't say a word about the colour, they simply dived into it and started giggling and rolling about and chasing each other through it. It kept them entertained for a good while. The best thing about this toy is that it folds away very quickly into its vinyl carry case and is flat enough to fit under the settee once they have finished playing with it,it's also very easy for the kids to open it up again, although I would advise adult supervision during this process if you value the TV or any ornaments. The only downside to this toy is the fact that more could have been made out of the end butterflies the children just discarded them as they prefer not to have them on. I hate to see anything wasted so I've carefully unpicked the stitching on the top of the butterfly motifs and have sewn a ribbon loop on the top. I now use one to store the kids socks behind the bedroom door and one to hold paint brushes, pens and pencils on their bedroom wall.

I received this free through the Amazon Vine programme. The Melissa and Doug Bella butterfly play tunnel is a nicely made thing, which arrives neatly packed in a resealable plastic packet. As a word of warning, this pops open really easily, so a bit of caution might be needed when it comes to unpacking: the 4 year old, 3 year old and 18 month old tester managed to open the packet indoors - much to the indignation of the cat! The fabric is pretty, lightweight, but strong and the tunnel folds away to virtually nothing for storage. The butterfly design in yellows, pinks and greens is clearly aimed at girls, but my trio of preschool-age male testers are all completely unphased by the feminine slant to the colour scheme and instead just find having a tunnel to hide in in the garden to be absolutely ripping good fun. At a guess, by the time they're big enough to be concerned there'll be sufficient grass and mud stains that the original colours were only a distant memory. The Velcro-on butterflies attached to the ends of the tunnel were slightly more varied in success. The younger two found these hysterical, but the 4-year old got a bit distressed. He was, however, quite happy running round the garden with a big butterfly 'kite'!

So i got this for a different reason than anyone else did, i got it for my dog.I am uploading a video, well trying too but Amazon have been having trouble with this for weeks so it may not play.Anyway its just big enough for my Husky, she can get through and lay down and even turn around without touching the sides, however she was the runt of the litter so she is quite tiny, more collie size.I was impressed with the ease of opening, you just undo 3 straps and it pops open, there are 2 doors for each end but i havent fastened them yet but there is a hole in each one to allow you to fasten them with straps that are already on the tunnel. Its bright and funky and looks good in my garden, bit more for girls if im honest considering the primary colour is pink, but it seems sturdy enough, only thing is it would blow around in wind, there is nothing securing it to the floor, however you could very easily go and buy tent strings and pegs and peg it down. Not sure its waterproof as the fabric is quite thin but i will update when it rains and i will let you know.

Every Melissa and Doug product I have come across has been of exceptionally high quality, and this tunnel is no exception to the rule. This crawl tunnel is absolutely gorgeous. It is made with hard-wearing materials, and it looks like it will withstand a reasonable amount of activity without falling apart or being damaged in any way.The colours are rich and eye-catching, and they certainly attract children to the tunnel. The butterfly door is so pretty, and is an interesting addition over and above a standard crawl tunnel feature. The tunnel folds down delightfully easily, and is held together with velcro straps. The whole thing then fits in the storage bag, which is fastened using poppers. The space when folded is minimal, and makes it very easy to use and then store away again until the next use. It is also suitable for indoor and outdoor play.Overall, this is a really superb crawl tunnel. It is really pretty, and it seems to be of a high quality.

Over the years I have purchased a few play tunnels for use in the playroom and garden. This is extremely light and easy to open - just pull the Velcro straps and it pops open. You can use the open straps to attach `doors' to the tunnel, or leave them off. My daughter and niece love the girly, pink colour and the butterfly doors; but if you had a toddler who didn't like feeling enclosed, you don't have to use them. Makes a great den, an excellent addition to an obstacle course or just something to crawl through. What's more, it folds up again in moments, to be packed away flat. The plastic bag it comes in has poppers, so don't throw it away,as you can use it to store the toy in and keep in clean.

The Melissa & Doug Butterfly Tunnel has been a HUGE success in our house. It packages down really flat, which is great for storage, and once you undo the velcro straps it pings out (to about a metre and a half long) in a most entertaining manner. It is bright and pretty, and made of good quality nylon. The butterfly end sections are completely removable if you so desire, or are easily pushed out of the way to enter and exit the tunnel. While clearly not its intended purpose, my dog loves it just as much as my niece does. Seeing them play together in it is very entertaining, and it is a comparable price to dedicated dog agility tunnels. A really lovely item.

The picture really does not do this product justice! As soon as I had taken it out of the box, the fantastic and vibrant colours of the tunnel were evident, it really looks good! I was worried about the fabric before it arrived and wondered if it would stand up to the vigour's of our 4 year old!! I am delighted to say yes.... it will... the fabric is of a good quality and I can see this lasting for years. Since we set it up, our youngest has not left it alone, it really encourages creative game play and I can already tell this will get lots of use, very very happy with it.

My children really like this!It arrives folded, and is kept folded through the use of Velcro tabs - this is unusually good for this type of pop up product - I usually end up trying to ram this sort of thing into a bag before it pops out again - this stays folded when you want it to!The tunnel is a good length and is lovely bright colours. It is suitable for use indoors or out and has provided my children with great entertainment. It appears to be well made and I can see that we are going to get a lot of use out of it.Would recommend.

Substantial and robust toy. In an age in which children are suffering increasingly from obesity, and are at risk of being glued to 'screens' of one kind or another for too long, any toy that encourages physical activity is to be welcomed. I would have given this 5 stars if it had been a little more 'gender neutral'. It is a little bit pink and girly, but then that might increase its attractiveness to young girls. An excellent choice for a gift for this age group.

This is great. We use it as a tunnel with an entrance to a tent but also just to road around on the grass in. My six year old enjoys it now but I think younger is better as she can't turn around in it. It is very girly, but as butterflies are a part of her school logo she thinks it's 'educational'.No rips or tears after a few plays and no pointy bits sticking out anywhere. Also this is just as easy to tie up as it is to pop up.

this was better than I expected, got it to spare our furniture when the grandchildren are here as they like to be adventurous, anyway it seemed to do the trick, worked off lots of their excess energy when they had to stay inside because of the inclement weather, and it seemed to fire their imaginations too, it's surprising what kind of things they managed to encounter inside the butterfly tunnel

This tunnel is absolutely adorable! It is extremely durable, and comes exactly as pictured. It is quite large, so having the space for it is a must. It collapses down quite easily into a small circle which is easy to carry or store. I am impressed with the quality of material, and parts. It is a huge hit!
