My 4 year old got this as a Christmas present and loves playing with it. It has larger pieces than standard Meccano which are also flexible and is therefore easier to build, but still quite challenging.At first my son needed quite a lot of help but now, having built everything a couple of times he can do this mostly on his own, with occasional help needed tightening screws. He's learned to follow the picture diagrams and use the screwdriver and spanner, but I'd say the age suitability would depend on the child. My son's quite good with his hands and tends to enjoy fiddly little things (like Hama beads). I've noticed on the Meccano website they have now changed the packaging to say from age 5,

A good alternative to meccano for little ones. My 4year old grandson loved this set but needed grandad to build it! Both enjoyed it! Ideal for little fingers to practise with the tools and learn how it all fits together. Excellent quality plastic/rubbery material which so far is unbreakable. Nice present which will be easier to build himself as he grows and then his imagination is the limit.

i bought this for my grandson for his third birthday and we have had hours of fun with it. if you're following one of the designs help is needed, but with kids imaginations they can make anything out of the pieces. he is now starting to learn to put the different bits together and even though some of them don't resemble anything, he loves it

4 toys in 1 box! looks good, lots of pieces. looks like it might be challenging for a 5 year old, but I think this means it will be a toy they will continue to play with for a while. bought this as a birthday present - cant comment more as haven't seen it in action yet!

As an introduction to meccano this is ideal, unlike lego there is a number of shapes to create from this one kit. Hopefully this will lead to an interest to use the metal childhood (1950's) meccano in my possession

Bought this for a Christmas present for my nephew's son. My daughter and he made a helicopter on Boxing Day afternoon, it didnt take too long and he seemed to enjoy making it with her.

Great start to meccano. Still a little tricky at times for my 5 year old, he needs some help. Good fun though and relatively robust pieces

Brought for 4 year old nephew, ended up playing with it myself! Great fun, bright and perfect for creative and inquisitive young minds.
