I ordered this Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner as I absolutely love makeup, & I really love my dark heavy smokeyes, especially as I have blue/green eyes, & I find the dark sultry look really makes my eyes pop & stand out. Anyway, over the many years I've obv tried a large number of diff eyeliners & eyeliner gels, pens, etc, but I'd never, in all those years, really found 'the' eyeliner I was after.I found that eyeliner kohl (pencil liner) is easy to apply, but vary greatly in their black intensity. I also find, for me, these are the WORST eyeliners, as they dont stay put for very long either, after application. They fade. Plus, they also have the annoying inconvenience of having to,& the mess in doing so,- have to be sharpened when they blunt! Nope, not for me!I've also tried numerous liquid liners, which I ALWAYS use to line my upper eyelid, & always with an outer flick. But for the under-eye, i find liquid liners are also not very good at all, as they are easy to apply, & fab in their colour intensity, but, for me, I find that shortly after application, the liner often tends to run, as in 'a' single tiny line that just seems to run, on 1 eye, or both, just a little, but as the colour is so intense, & the consistency of liquid liners, you'll know that they aren't particularly easy to remove with just a wipe of the finger, & without having to remove part of the makeup to redo, simply trying to blend, or remove this tiny streak, ends up either becoming worse & smudged too, or looking like I've got dark circles under my eye(s). So again, whilst I can easily & happily use liquid liners on top of my eyelid, for below the eye, liquid liners are again, not for me.Next I've tried liner pens, & a number of diff ones, which are easier for those who are less confident in applying liner to the tops or below the eye (as you have more control using a pen, & is obv more precise) & pen liners come in a variety of diff sizes, & pointed, or flat edged, to produce different liner effects. And I guess I have to concede that pen liners, for under the eye, have been my most used & preferred use, but that's just in a very general term, as I do, with pen liners, find that there are so many out there to buy, such a wide choice, & also, a LOT of variation between them. It's always been a case of having to try each type out, & over a period of time, to find out how rich is the colour intensity? Does it last? If so, how long for? Is it waterproof? Even those which are marketed as being waterproof ? How does its wear, in diff weathers, & environments etc, last over the course of a days wear? - the results are very much varied in all of those questions, from 1 pen liner, to another, so if you are looking for a good pen liner particularly, then I'd deffo say it's a case of having to try them out on yourself, for yourself. However, I saw this gel liner in a little pot, here on amazon, noted the brand & name, & saw that it is supplied with a brush applicator, & I know that these type of pot/gel liners are great in their deep black intensity,so I was keen to try this out!On ordering, it does look like a reeeaaally small pot, but looks can be deceiving, as in actual fact, this will last a good while, & a little goes a long way, so this gel pot liner is deffo worth its price. The consistency of the gel liner in the pot, is more on the playable side, and it's best applied with a small headed brush (I always use the brush it comes with in its box, & find it's perfect to use). Not too much is needed, & when applied it mostly glides on with ease & pretty well, & using the small brush to apply,I always, too define my lower eye completely. This is perfect for they under eye as it's more plyable, so doesn't run, it's easy to apply, is great in its intense dark black colour, and it's pretty long lasting too! I also use this on my upper eye lid, to line it, & decline the top & bottom of the liner, around the inner edge of the eye, bringing the top & bottom together. I then use the black tattoo brow liquid eye liner, which I love the tattoo brow range & always use the tattoo brow get, & the tattoo brow peel off eye tint, - all very good products, which are intense, & also very long lasting (through to the next day!) But, I always use these 2 liners, which are fab 'the' best, & I apply this pot of gel liner first, to the top of the eyeliner, then taking it down & lining the inner eye, before then applying to the lower eye line. I then use the tattoo brow black liner gel on lining just the very inner corners of the eyes, toe & bottom, into a small, but noticeable, precise point. The I apply the tattoo brown gel liner to just the edge of my upper eyeliner, flicking up & out to create my signature outer corner eye flicks. And for me, this comby is simply spot on. I actually was sooooo happy with this pot of gel liner, & use eyeliner a lot, as is my standard, using it in combination with the tattoo brow eyeliner gel pen. I find it easy to apply. It doesn't run. Its black is intense it's long lasting, & will stay put in rain, when you sweat etc. So, if you are reading this review as you are looking at potentially buying this, then I'd deffo say, although it may appear as a very small quantity, in a very small pot, - it WILL last you a while, & a lite deffo goes a long way. So I feel this is deffo worth its price, if this is what you are looking for, you WONT be disappointed!I would not only highly recommend, but I will continue to purchase this pot liner as & when I need it, before I run outI hope this review help! :) xxx

I tried the black gold edition of this when Maybelline first launched their gel eyeliner, but gave up on it as I couldn't get on with the brush and it smudged easily . I thought I would give this a go again in purple in case they had revamped the brush and adjusted the formulation as it claims to last 24 hours.Overall I'm pretty pleased with this formulation of gel eyeliner, it does feel a bit thick and a bit greasy at first but it goes on quite well and definitely lasts longer than its predecessor. I would advise not to apply too thickly as it sets quickly and if not evenly applied it can be clumpy giving a textured finish and artex eyeliner isn't very becoming. Also don't apply a second amount over already set eyeliner as it will shift the layer underneath. You need to get it perfect first time for this which takes practice. The purple isn't 'crazy' purple, you have to get quite close to see its purple but is very flattering on cool skin tones (those that suit silver jewellery better than gold regardless of how light or dark they are) and anyone with blue or grey toned eyes.Longevity is good, I painted three lines on my hand in the afternoon, a very light stroke, a 'perfect' line and a thicker 'overapplied' line and in the morning the 'perfect' line and the overapplied line were still there despite washing hands etc, the overapplied line was a bit speckly but still there.Personally I would chuck the brush, it's rubbish for applying eyeliner, the bristles are too soft and can't really take the pressure required to get a sharp line unless caked in set product which isn't very hygienic especially round the eye area. I switched this out for a thin edged slant/angled brush with firmer bristles used for eyeliner or filling in eyebrows and it applied like a dream getting the perfect flick.Overall, I would definitely try this again and in the black versions too, just ditching the brush.

I have always been a lover of dramatic eye make-up but I’ve never been able to get the look that I wanted. Pencils feel too light and easily smudge while I just don’t seem to have a steady enough hand to get an even and consistent line with liquid liner. Because of this I was equal parts interested and suspicious of this gel eyeliner. The first thing to note is that you get a small pot of gel eyeliner and a double ended brush - one side for a finer line and the other for a smudge. Everything comes in box packaging. The first time I tried to apply it I was very surprised about how easily it went on. It calls itself a gel but I found it a little bit more solid than I initially expected. That’s definitely not a bad thing - the consistency ensures that it glides on smoothly but isn’t too wet to go everywhere. The line the you can draw isn’t necessarily what I would call a fine line like you would get with a liquid liner - but that makes it much easier to get a smooth curve. You can use the finer side of the brush for an intense line and then smudge it (if you fancy) with the other side. I was happy happy with the time it took and the look that I achieved with this brush and liner. The big test was when I went on a night out after putting on my eyeliner. I’m not sure if I just have watery eyes or if I just have a tendency to touch my eyes - either way my eyeliner rarely stays on my eyes when I’m out. This time I was pleasantly surprised. The line on my eyes was just as dramatic when I got home as when I’d left. It even survived (and looked alright) after I’d slept the night without washing it off. Not recommended but it’s good to know. This is something that’s definitely going to be a staple of my make-up bag from now on. And at £6 (at the time of this review) it’s a not bad price for a good bit of kit. 5 stars.

I sometimes suffer from dry eyes which means my eyes water a lot, so I was searching for an eyeliner that stays put. I adore purple so was keen on this right away. The price on this little pot was excellent, so I thought I would give it a try. Like others, I found it slightly mixed. The product is in a very small screw top glass jar, but a little is all you need for an application. I loved the brush that comes with it, meaning for me the purchase was great if only for a brush I love. The gel liner is easy to load on the brush and the small tip of the brush makes it very easy to deliver the liner exactly where you want it.The handle is a good length and so far I've lost no bristles at all.The colour is a gorgeous vibrant dark purple and the colour stays true when you put it into your eyelid. Perhaps a very light colour would blend in and make it look lighter, but applying a small amount more would ensure the deep colour shows through. I found the product went on well and did not drag as I applied it. It also lasted well during a full day at work, another big plus as reapplication is not necessary. The reason I have dropped a star is because the top of the product is starting to dry out and clump as I load up the brush. I now need to dig a bit deeper to get fresh gel, although once I get to the 'good stuff' it still works as well as ever. It doesn't seem to smudge at all, as long as you allow maybe 30 seconds for the product to set properly.Overalls, I like this very much. If the price were much higher I would say the small size and apparent drying out would make it less attractive. But I paid a shade under £3 which for me represents a really good product and a bit of a downside I can easily live with. And did I say how good the colour is?? (Purple is great with green eyes!) Recommended.

Very pleased with the results. I'm turning 50 next year and have started to find that ultra black eyeliner is looking more harsh and aging and less elegant than it used to, so I wanted to try a brown one instead. I wanted a VERY dark brown and had been eyeing up a prestigious designer brand gel pot eyeliner in the exact colour I wanted, but that was nearly £30! (And it didn't even come with a brush!) I took a chance on this instead at a fraction of the price; I bought both the black and brown and custom blended them myself to get the exact shade I wanted. These are extremely pigmented (especially the black - a little goes a very long way and you only need the tiniest hint to darken the brown by the right amount!)so I dipped the very end of the brush ever so lightly into the black, then picked up a small amount of brown and blended it straight onto the eye. It glides on and blends like a dream; I used the smudger end to soften and blend and repeated until I was happy with the results, but it was very quick to create because both the brush and gel were so easy to work with. This was much better than I was expecting. I even used it on the lower waterline with no irritation at all and I very rarely line the inner lid because my eyes tend to water quite a bit. So far the staying power is excellent. Haven't tried to remove it yet, but I'm sure my trusty micellar water will be up to the job - it makes light work of waterproof mascara.(The photos are unfiltered and unretouched - just a bit blurry as I cropped and zoomed in on a normal pic, but very happy with the results anyway).

Although I have been using eyeliner for years, I mostly use a powder or wax formula, because I feel that gel is more difficult to apply and can sometimes look a little harsh. However, the results with gel eyeliner can be quite stunning, but because it dries quite quickly, I feel you need to have some experience in order to obtain a good effect. The brush that comes with this eyeliner is – in my opinion – not the best for use with gel. It would be ok for a powder format, but I used a long-handled eyeliner brush that gives perfect control. I liked the little pot with screw-on lid – it helps to stop the gel from drying out and is easy to access. Using my own brush, the gel was smooth and easy to apply and, because I was quick enough, I was able to stroke out a slight wavy line using the tip of my finger. The colour is beautiful. This ultra violet shade will suit all skin tones and eye colours and really opens the eyes and outlines their shape. It is not too vibrant, so can be worn during the day – I’m at the age where ‘less is best’ and I didn’t feel as if it was too bold. For evening time, a broader, more defined line would look gorgeous – especially on young, firm lids. The gel formula lasts all day – even on my slightly oily lids. It washed off easily with soap and water and I had no adverse reaction to it, even though I applied it to the inside corners of my upper lids.I really like this gel eyeliner and the colour is lovely without being too dramatic.

Beware of how long this stays in your makeup bag- a little goes a long way but it doesn't last as long as the amount in the pot if that makes any sense? Both the brush and the consistency of the product become more and more difficult to work with after about 6 months (at this point it is wise to replace both anyway for hygeine reasons) but other than that, I can not at all fault this product, my go to for three years now. The brush to start with is ultra fine and precise, the liner is jet black and ultra smooth/easy to work with. I use this for sharp feline flicks and cat eyes, or big black dramatic looks (set with black eyeshadow, it stays all day and night) it's great for festivals, one day at a festival I had to keep dousing my head under the drinking tap to stay cool- eyeliner stayed mostly completely untouched and intact. It really is rather good. You may want to use a larger brush for applying to a larger space on your eye. You know it needs replacing for sure when it starts becoming less black and harder to work with/not lasting as long. Buy it, it's the best I ever used and I've been doing 'bat eyes' since I was 12

I've been trying to master the perfect 'flicks' for ages but I just hadn't found the right tools to do so. I think that this just might be my new secret weapon! The brush is great. It really helps to achieve a thin line and makes applying the eyeliner a lot easier than with other products I've tried. The brush is double-ended. The other end, which I probably won't use, is more of a sponge-type brush which I imagine would be useful if you want to smudge the liner to create a smokey-eyed effect. The eyeliner itself takes a few minutes to dry but once it has dried it really seems to stay put. I've had it on for 6 hours and the deep black colour hasn't faded at all. Also the eyeliner hasn't transfered or smudged which is amazing! As noted in other reviews, the eyeliner pot is very small, but you only need a tiny amount so it should still last for ages.I've tried many different eyeliners from both cheap and more expensive brands and this is by far the best. I can't fault it. What a find and such a good price too!

I must confess to being very fond of a neutral eye with a perfect feline flick. You too can master that Adele look without breaking the bank. I've tried lots of different felt tip/pen formulations but have found that they don't have great colour payoff plus they dry out too quickly. Also liquid eyeliners can be quite runny and require a superhuman steady hand. I tried a budget gel eyeliner but it flaked very quickly. However, this gel eyeliner from Maybelline was really effective and easy to use. With just one application I had an intense black flick and it dried quickly although you do have to be careful not to touch your eyelids for a few minutes. After 12 hours I noticed a little fading onthe outside of my eyelids but overall I was very impressed with the durability of this product even on my oily lids. The brush included with the gel is good quality although it will only remain so if you remember to clean it after use.....learn from my mistakes!Long lasting, quick drying and foolproof, what's not to love.

Surprisingly pleased with this eyeliner. I have never used a gel before - I usually use a pencil or liquid liner. This is applied with the supplied brush. On the plus side: a little goes a long way, it gives very good intense colour, I like that the brush is included for the price and that the gel comes in a little glass pot that looks nice. Price is also very good. No reaction from my sensitive skin - as with all Maybelline products so far.On the negative side: not much really - I found it difficult to be as precise as I am with a liquid liner, but in fairness I have been using that for 20 years plus, whereas the gel has had one go.Given that - the results are pretty good - a nice smokey finish (any stray bits blurred nicely with the blurring end of the brush). All in all - I would prefer a black / brown colour as this is a very intense black - but I think many people would prefer the black - otherwise - really good product for a really good price.

I was sent a colourway called 'Ultra Violet' instead of the advertised 'Jade' - no worries as I have blue eyes. I reviewed a very similar product recently, but the only difference was the shape of the brush. The one supplied with this product was great, a mini lip brush if you may - but with a slanted end which made lining close to the waterline very easy indeed. The gel dried quickly and the colour was subtle and when combined with Maybelline Great Lash Mascara, made my eyes pop under my myopia glasses lenses. The only reason I've given it a 4* instead of a 5* marking is because once the gel is set, there's no blending it, which is a pity. Removal is also difficult, even with liberal use of eye make-up removers especially designed for the purpose of removing waterproof products. In conclusion: a great price for a rather good product. I did have to tear the packaging to remove the glass bottomed heavy container from the bottom of the box.

I’ve tried multiple eyeliners trying to find one that doesn’t run, is properly opaque and is easy to work with, because let’s be honest, eyeliner is NOT EASY! For me, anyway. I’ve used ones that are high end, work great for a while, but dry out so easily. But this!!! This little gem! Is everything I’ve ever wanted in an eyeliner and is half the price of the one I’d been using most recently. It’s thick but doesn’t budge once dried and is SO BLACK, it’s honestly perfect. The brush it comes with is great too but I tend to use a different one if I want to do a wing as it’s not a precise as I need for that. Because it’s a gel formula, I imagine it wouldn’t dry out as easily as a felt tip eyeliner.Either way, this eyeliner is so easy to use once you get used to the texture and how much you need to use. I honestly love it and it’s become my favourite very quickly. Thankyou Maybelline for creating something so great for such a fab price!!

I've always rather struggled applying eyeliner to my top eyelid - I just never seemed to be able to get it to look like one clean line without looking massively overdone (not a fan of the all-round-the-eye panda look). So the aim was for something rather more subtle. I've tried numerous 'easy to apply' pen eyeliners, both liquid and pencil, but would still only attempt it on special occasions as I knew the faff involved. However this Maybelline Gel eyeliner is the best I've tried!! I was slightly daunted by using the brush and pot, but don't be put off, it is easier than you might think and is easy to build up a narrow, clean looking line. It's not magic, and does take a bit of practice, but persevere as it is worth it. The staying power is also superb, I can put it on in the morning and at the end of the night it's still looking great. Would recommend to eyeliner pros and novices alike!

This is a great product, very easy to use and doesn't drag the eye like some eyeliner pencils do. The gel eyeliner comes in a very small glass jar, but as you only need a small amount I can see this lasting a couple of months. I have tried lots of eyeliners and have found that Maybelline make one of the best, and it's safe for sensitive eyes and is ophthalmologist-tested. Maybelline claims the gel eyeliner to be non transferable, and wearable for up to 24 hrs. I have not tried to keep it on for that length of time but have found that the eyeliner stays put on my normal day and night use. The brush that comes with the liner is perfectly adequate for applying the liner.I would advise that you clean the brush after each use, as the brush will become dry and solid if left with the gel liner on. I have been converted to this Gel eyeliner and therefore it's five stars from me folks.

This is a really nice eyeliner. You get lots in the pot, it's REALLY highly pigmented for a proper opaque black, it wears relatively well (though not waterproof), it dries velvet matte (I was sick of shiny liquid eyeliner), and is easily removed with an oil cleanser or micellar water. It takes a bit of getting used to if you're used to felt tip liners. I'd say that the brush that comes with it is very average – it feels entirely the wrong shape for an eyeliner brush and can leave the product a bit smudgy and the lines uneven. You're better off using a small angled eyebrow brush (a cheap one will do, it's just about the shape). Dip it in the product, apply it to the back of your hand, and then drag both sides of the brush down in it to give you a sharp point. It makes it a lot easier to get crisp pigmented lines and to draw wings with what is a really great gel liner formula.
