The tire is great on most counts just like the 4 sets of High Roller II tires that i've run. I'll spare you the discussion about the incredible cornering and braking ability. Here's how it is plain and simple: if you want a high roller that will last a little longer then these are for you. The cost of this durability is an absolutely noticeable loss of cornering grip compared to the High Roller II Super Tacky DH casing tire that it replaced. Yes, it seems to be more durable, but I'm not sure that the loss of grip is worth it. I dont like the EXO casing either; if you are in the habit of hucking your bike off stuff hard or shredding berms, this tire will come off the bead.I've been running tubless for all my Maxxis tires and I have to say that the DOWNHILL/FREERIDE performance of the DH Super Tacky version of this tire was superior on all marks. NOW, where I see this tire being suitable is on an all mountain rig where you will be putting in a mix of cross country miles and some occasional rowdy descents. This tire weighs less than the aforementioned one and is also better with rolling resistance and treadlife. PICK YOUR TIRE SMARTLY

UPDATE: 10-09Been riding these tires since my original review. Knobs are just about worn but the tacky compound is fast and still hooks up.Side knobs have always been an issue as far as tearing. Usually go around with some CA glue(found in hobby shops) or super glue if you will. I applied silicone spray every now and then to keep the rubber soft.Over all I love these tires. They do wear a bit fast on rocky terrain but in the NW we are kings of loam so not much of an issue. After riding a lot of granite the side knobs are pretty much done...however they are still the bees knees and hook up great. Having no issues riding clay based soil and still hitting berms with authority.Still a Maxxis fan however going to be running Schwalbe Magic Mary up front this winter for the wet NW.Great tire, big fan of the original High Rollers. In comparison on dry fast sections these feel faster and more lively than the originals. Been hitting Whistler style berms the last couple weeks, leaning over is different until you get used to leaning a little later/deeper and digging in harder. These tires rail!!

hello, i am interested in tubeless tires for my 29 x 2.3 genesis incline bike. it is just a walmart bike and i am not at all competitively riding so i am looking for a low-cost reliable option. i have a long-running history of real flats. can you help me to select ,the right tires as well as any necessary accessories (it seems as if a tape, sealant, and stem might be needed as well?). thank you for your time and assistance. if you can address, i will certainly order from bike inn. thank you, ryan

It doesn't roll. Everyone who uses this tire knows this. That is not why I buy this monster. It's all about grip and predicability. When pedaling or braking in a straight line, nothing comes close in terms of grip. It's just nasty. As you lean, the tire will begin to lose traction briefly until you hit the sweet spot where you're on the corner knobs. Then it's traction for days. What you lose in roll and slide ability, you gain in mud and debris clearance. Also a great snow tire.

The grip is great and the sidewalls appear strong. I run a tubeless setup on Sunringle Chargers and this is my first set of Maxxxis tires. The setup was a breeze so A+ there. There are a lot of large bedded rocks here, so the tread appears to have taken a beating early on. Some knobs have been completely torn off. This may be the compromise for the awesome grip so we’ll see how long they last.

Works great here in the sandy trails around Florida, I neglected to measure the width of the thread against my bike and it rubbed my bicycle frame a little but fixed adding some washers to the tire axle sides and I'm very happy with it, I did notice the bike got heavier since the tires are at 65 PSI but I'm not a pro or anything just a weekend rider so doesn't affect me.

I replaced a maxxis ardent 2.25 on my rear with a 2.4 high roller 2 and the difference is very noticeable. Cornering, climbing, and overall traction have improved greatly. The rolling resistance is not bad at all and the compound seems very well thought out for more hardcore riding. My new favorite tire without a doubt, will probably put one on the front eventually.

Amazing tire. The performance is wonderful for trail riding. It's not the fastest so I wouldn't recommend it for XC, but for trail the traction is phenomenal. A helpful tip for more traction is run you tires at around 45 psi to get some more traction but, if you're doing mostly climbs keep it high. A good tire to pair this up with in the front is the Minion DHF.

Grips way better than the Ardent that came on the front of my Anthem. I decided to put the front Ardent on the back and got rid of the Race Ardent that was originally on the back.Much better traction on loose over hard pack.It is slower on the downhills but I don't care. I'd much rather have better traction than go a little faster and be squirly.

Awesome tyre. Went from a shwalbe rocket ron 2.1...massive increase in grip and feel so sure footed on any surface. Front wheel accuracy required as the aggressive side knobs can catch and throw you of line if you stray to track edge. Only negative is they are noticably weighty on climbs...but small price to pay for added fun coming back down.

Slightly difficult to install as it's so wide, but works amazing on loose pack and mud. Reversed the tire tread for amazing grip up any slope. Going on second season with still over half the tread left. Some pavement/hard pack usage but the rubber seems to be holding up well without any chunking off even though the tread is rolling reversed.

Awesome as a rear tire. Noticeable drop in rolling resistance vs. a Minion DHF of similar spec with very little loss of grip. Only time it grips less is when climbing up loose dirt, where it spins a little more readily than the Minion it replaced. Otherwise, cornering and braking are excellent.

I love this tire. I was a bit apprehensive about ordering it because reviews stated the tire didn't transition well from riding straight to getting over on the side knobs. It is noticeable but the tire never looses grip unless you try climbing on smooth wet rocks. Not many tires pass that test.

After approximately 200 miles on these tires of mixed and varied terrain, I can safely say that they are some of the best options for the money. Riding a hardtail 29er on everything from dirt and gravel roads to intense DH sessions at Angelfire, these tires have held up amazingly.

Rolls fast, giant shoulder lugs hook the flat corners with a very manageable weight. Have installed on Specialized Enduro 29 and couldn't be happier. Out performs other tires in the same class thus far in autumn/leafy slippery trail conditions.
