As a child of the 80s I was a fan of a certain bunch of robots in disguise and they are still going to this day. I did find that even their basic models were tricky on occasion, so what about a child friendly toy that transforms? Flipp is one of the Super Wings, a children's cartoon that my family has not seen. They seem to function both as planes, but also have legs and arms when they are on land. Flipp can be just played with as a plane, but with a little jiggery pokey you can take out some extremities. The process of changing one to the other is not quite as easy as I would have liked. In fact, the wheels get in the way of the legs so I spend the time changing Flipp back and forth for my child. It took a while for a 3 year to get the hand of transforming him and this is the target audience. It can be tempting to try and force the parts in and out, but I would warn against this as I can imagine a piece or two breaking off after a while. However, so far, despite some bits that stick out, our Flipp has survived quite a lot of kidhandling.I will say, that despite the actual toy being a little tricky, it is well loved. The quality plastic and bright colours have made this an instant hit, even without knowing the source material. Flipp's face is very welcoming and he has been on several trips around town with us already. This is the basic requirement of any toy, being fun to play with.

The Super Wings Transforming Vehicle is a fun-looking, chunky toy in simple, bright colours. It looks a friendly toy and not in the least aggressive. There is a sheet of instructions within the box, showing how the transformation is done. There are six steps to the transformation. The toy comprises a mix of small and chunky parts; the front wheel and two back wheels need nimble fingers to move them into their positions. The biggest difficulty I had with the transformation was in rotating the leg section. The section was quite stiff initially and it felt as if the toy was going to break when I moved it. Even with adult hands I found it hard to move the section.None of the other parts presented any problems and some of them make a reassuring ‘click-click’ when moved. There is a complexity to the transformation that makes the toy challenging and more interesting to play with. As the toy is used more, the leg rotation section becomes less stiff and easier to manipulate. An adult might need to work this part back and forth several times to take the hard edge of the clicky steps that seem to cause the stiffness of movement. It is a fun toy, a pretty toy, and can be played with in either mode, as a figure with long (or short) legs and big boots or as a flying machine. It has a lot of interest and play value and sets the beginnings for observation and logical thinking in a child.

A sweet little toy which my Daughter has instantly taken a shine to and which her older Brother has even been playing with with her.The toy reminds me of a Transformers toy but for younger children and the big chunky parts and bright colour is an instant draw. The only reason I haven't given more than 4 stars is that we have had the arms come off a few times and whilst I know that they need to be ball jointed to move, I think they need to be a little bit more secure.Changing from a plane to a figure and vice versa was a little tricky for her at first but she soon mastered it and he is a really cute toy.I really like that the wheels do move on it so that it can be pushed around properly when in its plane form.Nice and bright pre-schoolers transforming toy but I do think the arms shouldn't pop out so easily.

An recognisable toy for an avid watcher of Super Wings, so this was an instant hit before it even got out of the packaging. This is a relatively simple transforming-type toy, but without too much complexity, so it suits its relatively younger audience. The arms are a little bit prone to becoming detached which is a bit unfortunate, but provided you’re not too aggressive with it it holds up ok. One thing I did think was a bit of a shame was that it doesn’t stand up when in it’s non-plane form, but that might not be too big a deal for a child with sufficient imagination.Overall it’s a fun and straightforward toy, batteries-not-required, and for a price of c. £12.99 (at time of review)I think that’s ok value for money.

The Super Wings Transforming Vehicle - Series 1 - Jett - 5" Figure arrives in a nice presentation box. The character is known to us from the children television series. The toy is well made and of a very nice quality construction. Our 4 year old grand-daughter played with the toy and was able to transform Jett in a straight-forward manner, no difficulties were observed when the transformation occurred. The toy is appealing if the child can relate to the TV series, in our case this is a big hit. At the moment this TV series is on regular and quite popular and a good children TV programme. If considering this toy for the right little person this is bound to suit them and provide appeal to playwith.

This is one of a series of transforming toys - the first series include this figure, Jett, as well as Donnie, Jerome, Dizzy, Paul, Grand Albert, Bellow and Mira. They remind me a little of Transformers - Jett transforms from a figure into a plane and he is fairly easy for little hands to manipulate.I like the chunky, cheerful look of this toy. Obviously, there are a number to collect (and Series 1 suggests that there will be a Series 2 at some point!) and children will want more. That said, this is good quality and has lots of play value and scope for imaginative play. My nephew loved playing with it and, of course, now wants some 'friends,' for Jett to play with.

This is a fun, simple toy, which is sure to amuse children. It is a simple disc launcher, but has the added appeal of being modelled on a character from a popular, children’s television show.Toys without batteries are always a bonus. This is aimed at children aged 4+ and is fairly easy to use. You simply click Jett into the launcher, pull back the string and Jett will fly into the air. This is great fun and my nephew loves it. Be warned though that this really does fly high, and far. About twenty feet in fact, meaning it is best played with in a place where there is plenty of room – outside is definitely necessary as it goes too high to be played with indoors.

This is like a younger child’s version of Transformers, so I was keen to get my son to play with it.I was surprised at the price of it. For what you get I think it’s very worthwhile. My son really enjoyed transforming him into the bot and then the aeroplane and he mastered it pretty quickly. It was enjoyable to find the programme on the TV and watch it alongside with the figure. My son was very entertained for quite a while and has since gone back to play with it again and again. He is very big into vehicles so this was a perfect addition to his toy collection. It’s a bit smaller than the picture may suggest but again for the price you can’t really complain.

Tested with my grandsons (4 & 2).Both boys love airplanes (daddy works in aviation) so any airplane related toy is usually a hit. These Super Wings transforming toys give another dimension to play - which stimulates fine motor and problem solving skills whilst supporting imaginative play. Both boys found “transforming” the plane easy - and enjoyed being able to both fly and taxi.I think I know the rest of the series might be on the Christmas list so a full airline can be set up!I found these toys to be well made, competitively priced, colourful, easy to use and a hit with little ones - so can recommend.

Flip, the cheeky little character from the pre-school TV show Super Wings. My 3 year old nephew loves anything that is to do with vehicles and he was very excited to play with this. The transforming is fairly simple although I had to give him a hand as some of the bits are a bit on the delicate side to an impatient toddler. Definitely not suitable for under 3 years as some of the components are small and there is a choking hazard. The propellers don't feel very strong and I think they would be easily broken especially if a child is more prone to rougher play.

My four-year-old grandson played with this for a long time and took it to bed with him. He says to say he loves it!Older children also tried out the transformation and were impressed that when a bit came off from being forced a little too much, it could be immediately snapped back into place. The toy is attractive, colourful, fun and robust. The box he came in has a bit of runway as the base and directions, instructions tucked underneath it. 'Transforming Jeff' was a bit hit here. They are loving playing with their favourite Superwings characters.

A really great toy for smaller kids to be able to play with without the need for too much adult help. No batteries needed which is unusual but welcomed here. It's simply a single click to get the plane into place and pull and spin him on his way.. Well built and very bright and engaging. If I'm honest I wanted a go as soon as it was out of the box so the kids wrestled me for it. Great for indoors although far better outside when it can fly high, just watch out for fences etc as it really does move... We loved it and think it's a very fair price.

This feels sufficiently sturdy and has so far withstood the play of my children. It's easy enough for older preschool children to manipulate, although you will need to show them a couple of times first. We find that the tail section is tricky to align with the body when converting back into the plane, and so it often leaves a bit of a gap along the fuselage; it's not a major problem, but it means the toy dosen't fit together as satisfyingly as some of the other transforming toys we have used.

Firstly he loved it because it is a big, substantial toy which his little and rather unreliable hands and fingers could use. He loved the different voiced when you pressed the nose and has been imitating them all week. He liked being able to get hold of it and make it "fly". He loved the lights. He wasn't too taken with the leg bits that open and hasn't bothered much with these. As a whole this has been a huge success. It seems to be robust and I think it will last.

Bought this for my son's 3rd birthday and he loves it. This is a sturdy toy, has been dropped lots already and hasn't cracked or broken. I like that the arms pop off if pulled and can easily be popped back on which is great if you have a destructive toddler. It is quite tricky to transform though. There are some fiddly wheels that have to be pulled down and it's hard to get the legs to click in place. My son isn't bothered though, he's just happy to have Jett!!
