I looked at a few makes of filter before deciding on this one. It is well made, I had a filter from another manufacturer which sounded like a light meal from the days of the Raj where the glass wobbled in the casing, not so with this one. There are no problems with the application of the filter, the screw fit is easy and I have had no concerns about cross threading it.It performs well. I have obtained some very pleasing shots of waterfalls using this filter and also it smooths the appearance of larger expanses of water for general landscape work. It also allows me a larger aperture to increase blur in situations where brightness may ordinarily cause the camera to choose a smaller aperture.the lens edges and filter are blackened so as not to cause any internal reflection.Just for information as it is an ND8 filter this does not mean 8 times the exposure, it allows about 3 stops of extra exposure. I had previously bought a Lens Protect filter from this company, I am happy with both filters and will be buying from this manufacturer from now on.

My first Marumi filter, opting for the 3 stop light control ND filter, this is a nice clean filter, works well, far better than I expected for the money, Marumi are producing some nice quality filters lately, some are on par with B+W, worth looking into, I use this filter on a Canon EF 24mm f1.4 II lens for landscape photography, it controls the area's that would normally be blown or need so much exp comp the image would be useless, hence this little chap, controls the bright sky brilliantly, Marumi filters well worth looking into if you think B+W are good but too expensive, plus this is the FIRST filter that I have bought that didn't need cleaning when I opened it, Tiffen I found to be completely useless,Hoya Pro 1 range are nice but usually need a clean first, and the B+W range whilst they are nice and work well I feel they are really overpriced for what they are.

An ND filter is a pretty simple thing and there's only so much that you can do in terms of quality before the extra costs outweigh and perceivable benefit. In that case, Marumi have got it pretty much right. The glass is smooth and flat and the colour is even with no discernible faults. The screw fits smoothly to my Nikkor lens and stays firmly in place. The edge ring in reasonably narrow and I haven't noticed any corner effects on the wider angle shots. The times 8 exposure increase (3 stops with each stop halving the amount of light coming through) seems to be pretty accurate and as a result I've managed to make some nice long exposure pictures. Well recommended.

Marumi are establishing a solid reputation for providing quality filters at reasonable prices. Having already been very impressed by one of their polarizing filters, I figured I try their 3-stop ND.It's well made, and thin enough not to contribute to vignetting on my 17-40 on full frame. Optically it has no effect on sharpness and doesn't seem to contribute to flare (I do a lot of sunrise/sunset shots). As far as I can see there is no color cast even on long exposures. I honestly don't think even the B+W equivalent could do better, and it would have left a much bigger hole in my wallet.

I took this and some Cokin and other filters on a trip to iceland, This is a really good ND filter it does not leave any major cast on the pictures I took when using it recommended now if they can do a 10 stopper it would be wow!
