Whether you are roughing it in the great outdoors or at the airport, this large sturdy bag will handle pretty much anything that it thrown at it. The bag is beautifully constructed. the black and gray is sporty enough for the outdoors but is sophisticated enough for urban adventures. the bagi itself is huge. The interior has two large zippered pockets. One is mesh and affixed to the top of the bag. the other is zippered and nylon and inside the bag. both are ideal for segregating items like shoes, etc. The exterior also has sizable zippered compartment at the end that also contains a smaller zipped mesh pocket. All the zippers including the main one operate flawlessly with not sticking or catching. This bag features a convertible strap system. The straps can be positioned as traditional duffle handles or as a backpack harness. I didn't find it exceptionally comfortable as a backpack. tolerable yes, but I missed the stability that comes with a hip strap. The conversion was easy even though there are no instructions or diagrams. the fasteners are plastic but work well and hold securely. One thing that perplexed me is that the bottom is not made of the same rubbery water resistant material as the top. Granted this isn't a dry bag and isn't promoted as such. the bottom seems thick enough to prevent dampness from seeping through . Just odd that they would put it on the top and not the bottom. The capacity of the extra large bag is huge. there is more than enough room for work clothes, play clothes, toiletries and other necessities. Probably too large to fit in an overhead compartment but otherwise will transport your essentials with ease. The side handles/haul loops provide assistance with lifting and maneuvering. Overall this is a wonderfully constructed, attractive bag that is more than ready to meet any travel challenge.

I ordered this bag for my middle daughter who does a lot of travelling and was look for a new backpack I liked the way this bag could be hold-all and convert to back pack. When the bag arrives it’s in a bag of its own a drawstring swim style bag with brand name on it which is actually a good quality bag itself. To the bag itself I got the large size which is 75litres the bag comes with a life time warranty which is reassuring and makes you think company has faith in quality of their product.I had not heard of Marmot brand but my daughter was delighted saying a quality brand. The bag is water resistant material as a hold all it is great holds a lot had secure zip and pockets for all your bits butit’s the back pack function my daughter was really insterested in.I was worried that been convertable it wouldn’t be as good as a single backpack but my daughter was delighted it’s very easy to convert and she says is very comfortable to wear and the weight is distributed evenly. It holds a lot easily enough for the 4/5 day trips she often takes in Europe and around the UK.The zips are well made and secure and all little pockets are also secure and well made. The bag has a rain flap which slang with water resistant material protects the bag contents from weather.A real quality well made and secure back pack but with added benefit of been able to convert to hold all.I was going to give 4stars as despite quality I thought was rather expensive for a bag but my daughter who uses backpacks very often insisted I gave 5 stars she says a good bag that is spacious ,comfortable to wear, weatherproof and with added benefit of looking attractive is priceless and that she would be more than happy to pay the price.

This may be the best duffel for long trips I've run across. The capacity is huge--advertised as 75 liters, which is hard to visualize, but basically it means you can fit a heck of a lot of clothes etc. in it. I think I could rely on this duffel alone for trips up to a week long. There is a sturdy handle stitched on one side, which makes it easy for maneuvering and shifting around. The two primary, longer straps can be attached for use as traditional handles, or they can be attached so as to convert the entire duffel into a backpack. This could be enormously helpful when you're trying to run between terminals to make a close connection. As with all Marmot products, you can expect high quality construction and durability. The bag is shipped in a separate stuff sack that you can use for later storage. The zippers are sturdy and look and feel like they'll hold up to substantial use. While this is not a watertight or waterproof duffel, the material is water-resistant and should handle anything short of a long or torrential downpour. In short, the size and versatility of this duffel makes it a great travel choice. While I wouldn't want to use it mainly as a backpack (the straps, while comfortable, don't quite live up to a well-designed hiking/camping backpack), the Marmot Long Hauler is probably more practical for urban travel than a dedicated hiking/camping backpack would be.

I have a range of duffel bags from a range of manufacturers, and have always found the iconic North Face duffel hard to beat. I own a range of sizes, including some that have travelled all over the world for nearly a decade with little sign of losing their integrity.I recently purchased a new North Face duffel and found the design to have slightly changed, and have a slight suspicion that the quality of the fabric and durability have been lessened over the previous design, which has lead me to explore other options.Marmot is a quality brand, and I was not disappointed by this bag. It comes nicely stored in a drawstring bag which is very useful not only for storing the duffel when not in use,but as a washing bag or for whatever you like. The main material has been hard-wearing, and the straps are as comfortable as you can expect for such a bag, with a range of convenient handles along the sides for dragging out of cars etc.A nice feature is the internal compression straps, which is really helpful in cramming items into the space, in addition to the external compression, which is often seen on bags from competitors. The internal mesh flap-storage is as expected, however the storage zips at either end are a useful addition for storing items that one needs to gain quick access to.At this price, it is hard to find a better duffel bag for your travels.

I love this bag. It came compressed inside the built in side pocket, so you can easily store it when not in use without taking up much space. It stores about the size of a frisbee. When you want to use it, you turn that pocket inside out and the full duffel bag expands. It was pretty easy to figure out the strap system, and converting the straps to the backpack is not complicated at all. I have the Medium 50L, and it is more than big enough to use as a weekender bag. I would almost thing the large would be too big. The inside has a side pocket for storing wet or smelly clothes, a second large mesh pocket, and straps for securing clothes inside the duffel. There are handles on all sides (except the bottom)so you can grab it from almost any angle and pull it out of a car or tent. The two shoulder straps can quickly be converted from a duffel handle to backpack straps, although it's not as comfortable as a full backpack and I wouldn't recommend using it for backpacking. But it works well for walking through the airport or for a short 1-2 hour day hike. The one complaint I have is that the two compression straps shown on the front in the picture are not present, at least in the 50L version. My only regret is that I didn't get it in red.

This is a great bag, made of quality materials and with good workmanship/machine work, all the stitches, joins, stress points are well made, I expect it would wear well into the future and it has worn well since I've been supplied it for review. The carry strap is good and plastic component parts of it not inclined to snap or bend or break under the strain of heavier weight in the carry case itself. The zips are great, dont jam, dont catch and the zippers themselves are not likely to bend, snap or break with normal use, no weaknesses I can discover it the material at all. Now, the bad itself, its capacious, roomy and will work either as a long haul, lengthy journey carry case (as suggested in the product information)or a larger gym bag that you may need to carry/contain boxing gloves, mits, wraps, fat boy grips for dumbells, barbells, all the other paraphernalia for sports. You can fit rugby balls, other sports equipment of that sort of proportions too.A very good bag to have on hand if you are moving house, office, workplace etc. and want to transport a lot of stuff all at once, all together. Recommended. Really great to have at least one of these carry options around at all times. Recommended.

This is a very large duffel bag. Suitable for travel, but especially suitable for hauling bulky stuff, like sports equipment. I am planning to use it for art equipment. It has two zip pockets on either end which make accessing items easy. The inside "lid" also has a zip pocket as well as another large zip pocket inside. The bonus is to be able to use the handles as a backpack. A little large and awkward, but they work and are padded. There is waist belt but these are serviceable when you need to free up both arms. I used a similar duffel when traveling through Europe for a biking trip. It would even hold my helmet. Great for hockey, baseball, diving, or, as I said, art. The downside with this duffel is the size.(large size) Easy to pack too much which would make it heavy. Wheels would have been a great addition. Also, as others have mentioned, for some strange reason the bottom side is not made of the water-resistant materials that the top and sides are. Why is this? One would probably more easily set the bag onto a wet surface than to be worried about rain.Anyway, overall a good, well-made product. Sturdy zippers and many handles and straps.

This is by far the most versatile, well-made travel duffel I've ever used. I have the small size, and I am amazed at how many things I am able to neatly fold inside with all of the compartment space. It really is built to withstand travel, and I haven't noticed any wear on it for a while now despite dragging it across the country on planes and by car.The feature I love the most is that it is able to change into a variety of packages. When it first arrived, it was in a small pouch, which when unzipped and unfolded reverses into the full-size duffel. There are two straps that may either be strapped together to form an over-the-shoulder duffel or, if you make them into two straps, you can make a backpack!I can't tell you how many times I've made the switch and it's been super useful and convenient.Overall, I can't recommend this duffel more. It's on the pricey end, but you get what you pay for. For all the cheap duffels I have used and had tear or the straps give out, this one is going to last the long haul, if its current state is any indication. 5/5 stars.

This is a great bag! My husband is going on a diving trip in a few weeks, and his travel buddy started teasing him about what bag he was going to bring. My husband had planned to bring our small rollaboard, but his friend said, "you'll probably show up with some wheeled suitcase, won't you." Off to amazon to buy him something big enough for his mask and fins, but more sporty and less stodgy. This bag easily holds as much as our rollaboard does, but in a duffel style. Each end is a separate zippered compartment, and there is an interior compartment inside the big open bag. It's waterproof and, best of all, can be used as an over-the-shoulder duffel bag OR a backpack. When it's a backpack, the large zippered compartment is against your bag, which prevents pickpocketing. Now, the backpack straps detach easily. Not while you're wearing it, but they're not the sturdiest straps. I like that they detach as it makes it easy for checking the bag, but just FYI - this isn't a bag you'll be taking on a long hiking trip.

This bag is absolutely fantastic!!I really wasn't expecting this to be as large and versatile as it is. The amount of pockets, straps, compartments etc is amazing.I've been using this bag for the gym and it comes with so many areas for storage and even has a seperate compartment that looks to be water proof. This is great for wet towels or swimwear after the gym.The quality is superb and feels very well made. I'm baffled by how big this is when it's open and expanded and how small it can become. When delivered it comes in a small pouch that doubles as a backpack. The bag itself can be used as a duffel, a backpack or a tote style bag.The possibilities are endless!Yes this is an expensive bag but I can't see me ever needing another bag as this is so versatile and fits so many scenarios. Hugely impressed. If you found this review helpful then please consider leaving a helpful review. This will help me out a lot.

Marmot Long Hauler bag is synonymous with quality. The hardware, stitching, and material are of the best quality, and this bag shows it. The strap has the ability to use this bag as a backpack, as well as a normal strap (comes in handy with a heavy load). There is a divided pouch to separate on the bag to keep items separated when needed, and pockets on each end to keep things close and easy access. Internally there are cargo straps to help you keep items in place when traveling. The rain flap is good and the bag protects your gear really well, but overall I do not think the bag is totally waterproof (I do not think this was intended to be a dry bag). The medium is rather large, enough to hold all my husband's hunting clothes and parkas (and he packs a lot when he goes hunting - "it does not do you any good to leave it at home").I would recommend this bag to anyone who needs a bulk storage and transport bag.

This is a great high quality duffel bag. It is large and can fit a lot. You can also wear it like a back pack. I have 3 kids so we have been using this to pack their clothes, some toys, and snacks when we go out. You'll be surprised to find out how much a baby and toddlers require when they go out. It works very well, and I can wear it if I need to. I was surprised it came flattened and folded. It's good to know if I ever need to put it away I "could" fold it back like that. It has so many uses and we will definitely be using this when we do weekend trips. It feels very sturdy, and we throw it around like a duffle bag, and it has stood up to the abuse. It's easy to open and remove your item, looks and feels great. I'm a fan.

My husband recently took my son to Peru for a week. This was a great bag for that trip. My son's clothes for one week, plus shoes, outwear, toiletries and a towel fit inside with plenty more room. We stopped packing it only for weight. He tossed the bag onto his back and wore it like a backpack through the airport and to the hotel. It made it much easier for him to transport than carrying the straps by hand. Good thing it was convertible this way!The material is nice and sturdy. It lasted 6 flights, rural and urban airports, hotels and cars. Without wheels this isn't ideal for someone who can't carry it. So probably not a great main suitcase for a regular traveler. But this is great for overnights!

This is just great for camping, or taking on long coach trips. The bag is very spacious, and the compartments at the side are handy for paper-work, travel documents etc...So there is no digging about looking for stuff in the main part. I have no doubt that younger members of the family will be 'borrowing' it for their European trips, especially as it stops the need for suitcases. Straps and zips are very strong, which they will need to be, for all the hawking about this bag is going to get in the near future. I would recommend this product, especially if you have members of the family, such as students, who travel a lot.
