Great tool! No more dust woes. I did 4 hardie jobs last year and couldn't get over the silica dust problems. Decided either I find a way do eliminate the dust or wouldn't do them at all. This tool is a god send. If you're doing hardie panel you will need this. Moving tooth does gradually wear but that's alright as the replacement part is available. Make sure you cut with painted side DOWN. This tool does chew up the panels a bit depending on the angle and speed that you use this tool - so make sure you find the sweet spot to get the cleanest cuts possible as you still have to pain the cut edges. It cuts straight enough but will not give you clean factory-edge-like cuts. Therefore maybe not the best option if you're installing upscale top notch finishing hardie with exposed cuts that will be up close and visible by the naked eye, then you will need to use the blade and a plank to get those sexy finished cuts. Still utterly recommended. Cuts out a 1/4" nibs so keep a garbage can next to your table.

I started to side my forest cabin with cement siding using a sliding compound miter saw and thought that I was going to die from the dust. Additionally, the dust crept into every crook and crack in my saw making the saw difficult to use, while ruining the blade in fewer than 50 cuts. The Makita JS8000 is a godsend! No more dust and it cuts as fast as my miter saw. This is a nibbler so it does cut out a 3/8" piece of waste. It allows the user to cut curves when necessary. To augment this tool I use my jigsaw equipped with Hitachi 725397 4-Inch 6 TPI Jig Saw Blades For Fiber Cement Siding. These blades last a very long time and produce very little dust.Between the 2 tools I am VERY satisfied.

I began remodeling a bathroom shower including new floors which required using Hardibacker cement panels in both 1/4 and 1/2 inch thickness. Before I bought this Makita cutting tool I was really not liking the scribe and break method, especially the 1/2 panels. This tool is friggin awesome and makes life much easier and way faster for cutting straight pieces in no time flat! Because it eliminates the dust that jig saws or circular saws create, it can be used inside where the work is being done. Well worth owning for this and future projects!

I have cut cement siding with a saw and I have cut it by scoring with a knife, this type of shear is much better than either of those two methods. Very little dust, clean cuts if held correctly on board, and the cutter blades can be switched 4 times as they dull. This tool does not work on things like Wonderboard that have grit in them, it is made for the 1/4 inch thick board that looks a bit like cardboard. The cutter head is the same on a couple other brands but I just prefered the Makita motor.

a whole different experience! I have done many small siding jobs in the past with regular power saws, with correct blades. This has been a very messy, slow process. I am now replacing the siding on a large house, so I invested the the cement shears. Why did I put this off so long? Quick, clean, quiet, accurate!! perfect.

Cuts great but I can not say anything about the longevity of the blades. The on big issue I see so far is that power cord should have been routed more towards the back because this way it is in the way a lot of timeswhen you make long cuts.Besides that it feels good and it works well.

I'm a tile setter and these cutters are a must have if you plan on installing over hardy backer underlayment. These cut through ¼ and ½ inch like butter and produce no dust. Contractors and homeowners are always amazed at this and they love us for not making a huge mess!

The makita siding cutter is a world of difference over a traditional saw. Very little if no dust and very accrurate. We re-sided a huge 3000 sq ft two story house, about 2500 lineal feet of siding. Cutter worked perfect over our 3 week job.

The trigger seems especially well made because it gives you accurate speed control. This tool will cut 1/2" hardie-backer and I'll bet it will cut most rigid materials from 1/4" up to 5/8". I plan on using this for a lot cutting jobs.

This thing is amazing. We're building/siding a garage and without this, I cannot imagine how much it'd suck to cut the siding. This cuts the boards like butter with no dust. Definitely worth the price!

I bought this to cut cement backer board, haven't given it much use yet but so far it has exceded my expectations. It cuts both 1/4" and 1/2" cleaner than the other brands I've used.

These shears were much better than the porter cable ones I had previously. As with all top end Makita tools you can expect high performance under demanding conditions.

Works well once you get the hang of it. Smooth cuts with minimal dust and very low airborne. Seems quality. Was overkill for my 150 s.f., this is a pro grade unit.

I use this for cutting tile backer and for cutting Hardy Plank siding. Better than the siding bladesand no dust. Cheaper than a 10" and 7 1/4" siding blade.

I'm glad I chose this Makita over the competition. It seems to be the high quality dependable Japanese Makita, even though they manufacture in China now.
