I started buying Makita 18v Li-ion tools last year, to replace older Ni-cad battery tools, which eventually gave up the ghost, and what a difference!I decided to buy this trimmer to add to my collection, after reading the reviews (all good).This is an excellent trimmer, as all the other reviewers have said. Again, like all Makita tools, this is very well made, sturdy yet light.I have 2 privet hedges, 30 metres long, 2 metres high, & 600mm wide. The trimmer managed both of these easily, and the battery was still going strong.I bought this as body only, as I already have batteries & a charger for my other Makita tools.The other thing is, that this was a good test for the battery which is a 3Ah 18v,

I bought this as I already have a cordless Makita drill and driver and got a charger and spare 4amp battery with them, so I thought I’d save some money and just buy the ‘bare’ hedge cutter... and I’m over the moon with it.It came well packaged and the nice sized 52cm blade was covered with a hard plastic sheath to protect the user.As I’d already charged up the battery I set about my overgrown privet hedge straight away.First noticeable plus was that the trimmer is light but robust, and as soon as I attached the battery the balance became perfect.It is nowhere near as noisy as my old Black and Decker model but that made no difference to the cutting power ...

Makita tools are of good design and perform well which is why I bought this hedge clipper. It is very sharp and cuts very cleanly and after half an hour of use the battery still indicated full charge. Two minor niggles, the optional leaf collector attachment is not available in the UK although listed in the Makita spare parts manual. The other thing is that the movable blade when in operation extends beyond the end of the fixed blade which can cause a problem when cutting up against a wall. This 520 long blade makes short work of my hedge, half the time of my old cutter.

I bought this for my wife to use as our large petrol hedge trimmer is too heavy for her. She loves it. We have about 100m of mixed native hedging to cut as well as several large evergreen 'balls' and this trimmer managed to cut everything in it's path. It can jam if you cut too fast and it encounters branches too large, but it's simple to get it re-started and it will then cut the branch if you take it a bit slower, sawing your way through. I have the 5 ampH battery and a half charge on one battery is all it takes to cut the lot. Perfect! Comes highly recommended.

I was a bit sceptical about a battery powered hedge trimmer but was persuaded by the positive reviews. I already have a Makita drill and battery and charger so this seemed quite a bargain.On performance, I tried it out the day it was delivered and its amazing. I've got an old mains powered Black and Decker and this is just so much better. It's very light and cuts through branches my old trimmer would have have struggled with.I'm VERY impressed.

I've been thoroughly impressed with this tool. I got it after my old hedge trimmer broke, and it far exceeds my expectations. It's lighter, has far less vibrations and cut's better. But the thing that's suprised me the most has been battery life, I managed to do my entire garden (six big shrubs and about 30ft of hedge) on about half a 3amp battery. It even uses the same batteries as my other Makita tools. I'd fully recommended it.

Used with a 4amp battery for over half hour and not even used a bar of battery meterTrimmed conifer tree and ivy and managed just fine got jammed a few times but that was i got in to bigger stuffI did own a electric 1 and a petrol 1Just a powerful as electric 1Petrol 1 obviously it's more powerfulBut if you have small amount of trimming to do or a lot of battery like me then this it's definitely the 1

the product arrived as a body only, so you need to have a battery and charger or buy one. But as usual with the makita range it was good quality, very quite, powerful and sharp. it could be a bit longer and was very light even with the battery on. perhaphs the cutting teeth could be a bit wider to tackle some of the bigger branches. but the function i bouht it for, it perform exceptionally well.

Excellent cordless hedge trimmer!I have been using this to cut back a Russian Vine which has invaded my back garden.It has plenty of power and will cut through surprisingly tough and woody parts of the plant.I've been using a 4ah battery that was supplied with my Makita drill and on a full charge this hedge trimmer lasts for ages.Brilliant value for money!

Excellent product, really impressed with them. Very quiet compared to the 240v ones I was used to using. I thought they wouldn't be powerful enough after first hearing them but they cut through the hedges seamlessly and are very precise. I used a 5ahm battery and thought they would use it in no time but this wasn't the case. I'd highly recommend these ?

I was very sceptical before buying, how llng will it last per battery and will it have the power needed.I already had the batteries so u took the plunge.No need to worry approx thirty metres of hedge trimmed back and only used a quarter of a 4amp battery!! Feels light and wouldnt have the power but sailed through it effortlessly.Highly reccomend

I brought this so I could do gardening in the evenings , so I wouldn't annoying the neighbours with my petrol Husky hedge trimmer.This makita has coped with my 10 foot beech hedges no problem, so now nothing in my garden is safe from a trim now.I also brought this because i already had makita drills, so i had the batteries and charger.

I have a sixteen metre hedge and this little beauty cut it with no problems a very sharp blade compared to my six month old qualcast.having other makita tools am able to use the same battery would recommend this trimmer to anybody who is looking to buy great price and a big thank to UK planet tools bucks for a speedy delivery.

The wife loves this, it is quite light but not feather light, after all it is made by makita.Very powerful and cuts really really well.Best of all I don't have too cut the hedge any more, because my lovely wife can't use the " I can't use the petrol trimmers as I can't start it and they scare me" excuse.... win win win..

Being Makita, it is well built and i have other Makita tools so can interchange batterys, great item, and really good price. We bought this hedge trimmer because we wanted something light to use as were not as young as we used to be , does the job very well without having to trail extention leads around the garden.
