For transparency, I've already bought into the Makita line having previously purchased a Makita drill and impact driver set and a circular saw, so buying another brand on the back of purported, and likely dubious, additional features, thereby requiring the additional purchase of a different set of batteries and chargers was obviously out of the question.Having said that I'm very happy with all the Makita tools I've bought. My latest purchase, this DJV182ZJ jigsaw, is no exception. I was a little phased by the first cut as the speed of the blade was low and therefore jiggly and difficult to hang on to even with the speed dial turned up to maximum. I quickly found, however,

Makita quality. bought to replace my old worn out Bosch Jigsaw, already have several 18V LiOn batteries and Makita tools, this is a great Jigsaw. Pendulum settings for cutting metal, wood, rough/fast cut wood, plastics, always use the correct blade and speed, settings and it will last and cut fantastic. It comes with a few blades too of varying types, and a dust extraction attatchment. The slow start mode can be turned on or off by turning the speed controll from 1 to 6 then back again, the LED lights will flash twice to indicate it is in that mode. Some people are put off and don't like this jigsaw because of that, but don't realise it is overideable, it's not in the user manual for some reason.

So far so good . Like the quick release for blade change . Plenty powerful tool took a birdmouth out of a 8*4 . Recommend 5 ah battery too will go through 3 ah quickly . Arrived quickly with dhr202 both from Powertool mate found them the cheapest would buy from them again ??

Everything is good like battery life, build, power and accuracy. Only criticisms are I wish it had a compartment to slide spare blades in and a button to turn off/on the slow start feature which I personally didn't have an issue with but puts a lot of people off buying.

Superb quality machine, should have bought one of these a long time ago. Not able to fault it. So easy to use & great not having a power cord to cut through. 10/10

Awesome piece of kit, well balanced, handy led light and blower to keep cutting line clear. ???. Being brushless lasts well on a battery too. Very happy purchase.

Tool is perfect for every woodworking project because its accurate and lightweight. Doing little bit metal working is never this easy.

Hate on/off button! Hate late speed function! Hate fix-on button! Love how it cut. Great speed! Don’t discharge batteries that quick
