I purchased this torch as I have a few Makita tools and I have never had any problems with the reliability and build quality of Makita plus as I have a variety of different AH batteries it saves having to think about the torch running out of battery power as I have a few spare batteries in my collection to fall back on but I tend to use the lower AH batteries to like 1.5ah or 2ah batteries keep the weight of the torch to a minimum and even the lower AH batteries hold there charge really well, I tend to use my 14.4v LXT batteries on my torch and portable usb charger which they are perfect for and use my 18v LXT 3ah batteries for my tools, the torch is really bright and doesn’t take much power with it being a LED torch and the hooked lanyard hanger it comes with is a great addition to have the torch hung up freeing your hands plus the adjustable directional torch head as well as the battery having a flat bottom means this torch can also be stood up and the adjustable head moved to the perfect position to light up your work area. Another Fantastic Product From Makita !!!’

Already have tools with Makita batteries, and needed a good quality worklight. Bought this and was not disappointed. The unit is very light without a battery, but once the battery is attached it becomes much more solid. The light is very bright, it can illuminate an entire room on its own, so this is more light than you could ever need for just about every construction and maintenance job you need to undertake, Once fitted, the battery gives it a solid base and my main use for this is sitting on the deck pointing straight up which it does with ease. The torch head pivots over in very definite clicks to reach any angle and it has two mounting clips with supplied hooks on leads so you can hang it and again illuminate in just about any direction. The obvious bonus if that if you are working with Makita on site, you always have a battery you can clip into this for instant light. This would not be the case with a torch with standard batteries. Highly useful tool, and for this price, a must have for the tool box.

These are great all around lights. I bought my first one before the part number changed and I just got the current one - I can't see any difference between them. Paired with the smaller 1.5a battery this light is comfortable, light and very bright - more of a spot than a flood light. I use it mostly as a flashlight, but with the rotating head and sturdy base it can easily stand on a surface and be aimed at a project. I've never bothered with the supplied hook.My only reservation is that the lens has no cover, so it is vulnerable if tossed in a toolbox. At the price, a cover or case should be supplied. As with most Makita 18v tools, it is overpriced. If you don't already have the batteries, there are plenty of other more reasonably priced LED flashlights. If you do have Makita batteries, also check out the DML801. It's an equally nice light with somewhat different functionality.

I bought this a year after drill/driver combo and turns out I use this for every project. Those with the Makita 18VLXT system should strongly consider this flashlight, and wishing I had bought it earlier. Handy flashlight, brighter than expected. With battery installed it has a very solid, sturdy base and the adjustable light makes it the most usable flashlight I've got. Thus far very long battery life.I'm just a weekend warrior that tries to fix/handle all home repair/maintenance on my own rather than call in vendors. This is plenty of flashlight for me and in my opinion a good value. There are more expensive options, some much more expensive.

This is the best torch I've ever bought. I already had makita batteries for other tools so bought this torch as the LXT batteries fit all the tools. I've had an 18V 4ah battery in this for six weeks, used it every day and let the kids play with it and its still going strong. It is really bright with a range of around 100 yards. The only bad point on this torch is the strap which is a bit of string and a metal hook which work but seem cheap and out of place on such a good piece of kit however I still gave five starsbecause its a great torch and fantastic value at £13 bare. This is a fantastic lamp. The amount of light put out is very impressive. Even in daytime. One pleasant surprise was the absolutely exquisite balance of the hanging hook when a battery-pack is inserted. This gets five-stars because, for the money, it's fantastically impressive as a lamp / torch, but the only downside is that it doesn't come with a lens-cap. I can imagine the lens will get scratched up pretty rapidly if it's chucked in a toolbag or other kit. For a couple of pence each it's a bit of a shame that Makita didn't provide one.

After three decades, decided to replace my old incandescent Craftsman light which has served me well. Having this Makati LED is certainly a big jump forward. 10'xs brighter and last for more than 8 hrs of continuous use. Its got a solid feel and a handy hook to hang around when working so hands are kept free. Works flawlessly with my Makita hammer drill 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries. There is another review which questioned the battery fit and he must have used the wrong ones. I had no issues at all!!!

I was worried that this wouldn't be bright, but it is very bright. I had to replace an older makita light that I lost and was worried the new ones just weren't as bright. I'm not worried anymore. The on/off button is hard to find at first though. I was feeling around for a hard button like my old one. This one is sort of hidden under the rubber, but it easy to turn on/off after you figure out where it is. Not so easy for someone fumbling around in the dark though as it's not very obvious at all.

it stands up! it fits in the hand! what else can it do? light the way of course!! nothing wrong with this torch. super value, and super useful. ok, there's no moving parts, and so makita don't get to show off mechanically - but I would never have expected to use this as often as I have, simply because it stands up - and so I have found it so easy to light the jobs that I wouldn't normally have - in summary, this really is a super handy tool. well done makita, great useful design.

I have tested all the 18v light options from Makita, this is one although basic is the best due to the build quality as well as light output in regards to the price. The DML802 feels much more solid than the other 18v makita lights, the head is made out of metal in a plastic body and the click adjustments feel very robust. I do recommend using a plastic grease to keep the click adjustment stops healthy for long term use. I highly recommend.

This is a great torch! It has a nice wide beam, it is very bright and a 1.5ah battery lasts ages! The only criticism I can think of, and it is quite trivial, is that I am concerned that the lens may get scratched or cracked if, like me, you tend to just throw this in your tool bag! Maybe a clip on protective cap would have been a good feature or accessory! I am currently using a lid from a furniture polish can to protect it!

A well made torch designed around a Makita battery in the base, not supplied, which acts as a useful stand for the torch. Multi angle light direction or hang up, via the supplied hook. The single Led gives enough light for most tasks but its not a searchlight. I got fed up changing 3 expensive D size batteries in other torches every time. Pleased with this item.

Finally treated myself to some NiMH kit. Whilst a much more powerful LED flood is available in the Makita range, this spot gives an amazing light, and it has a handy hook, batteries seem to last all week with it too.Only interesting thing is the lack of a serial number with respect to registering for a 3 year warranty - though doubt this will fail before then.

I got the light since I have few Makita Batteries. It's very convenient to just grab fresh battery of charger and use it. Light is pretty bright compare to older models from Makita which were terrible. I'm still yet to drain full 4 AH battery. It is pretty pricey compare to other lights on the market but you are paying for Makita convince which is well worth it.

You need a torch as well as a worklight. Looking under the floorboards to the far wall (8m), oddly there was just too much light from my DML806. All I could see was light. I had to use the torch from my car. The beam on this torch is narrow enough for this kind of use.Make sure you get this one and not the DML185, which uses conventional bulbs.
