This is a WW2 grand strategy game that covers similar ground to Hearts Of Iron, GG's World At War and Axis & Allies. As with those games Making History features area movement 'political' strategy (rather than geographic by and large), economics and resources, multiple unit types building, research, a whole world map, combat on land, sea and in the air and the ability to play as one of 80 or so major/minor states during 1936-45 period. Although less complex than HOI it is still quite detailed and has a lengthy learning curve, particularly when coming to terms with the economic model which is the best in the genre, especially in its treatment of trade, shortages, deficit spending, starvation and lack of supplies. What makes this game a lot of fun is that the 1936 scenario generally ignores the historical alliances and match-ups so that each game can be surprisingly different - you never know who will end up fighting who while the player has much freedom to attack/ally as he wishes (although there are historical scenarios for 1939, 1940 and 1941 if you prefer an Axis v Allies game). A 'normal' level game can be completed quite quickly but playing on the harder settings takes longer as the AI is better and more challenging. There is a website and forum dedicated to the game and several fan mods are available for free download. Finally, the game can also be played multi-player, runs on a relatively modest PC and is an exceptionally stable program.

I'll say it straight - the game is simply awesome! I'm a huge fan of Total War series, but always wanted to play in modern warfare. And there you go! First I downloaded demo version from Steam and 2 days later I decided - must have this game!Briefly - strategy together with diplomacy, economy, industry and trade. If I could compare this game to anything it would be Medieval: Total War, however with huge impact of economy in your game style. Another big advantage in this game is its forum - players create their own maps (some of them are really impressive), add new scenarios etc. Possibility of this game, innovations (I think) are limited only by your imagination. The only minus is a guide which won't show you everything so sometimes you have to guess, try, make mistakes, but you will learn. Now I can't wait for a new Making History 2.If you like Total War series then try this game as well - highly recommended!

Great game far better than Hearts of Iron 3 and on par with hearts of Iron 2 which was a great game as well. But you need to buy the Gold Edition of this game if you are getting it - better AI, more scenarios, more advancements etc. But you cant buy it here you will need to get it on Gamersgate or Steam.
