For months now I have researched LED flashlights in the $25 to $40 dollar price range. I narrowed the field to MagLite LED units,but there are several units that appear to be the same but have different prices. There simply is not enough technical details fora shopper to make a well informed buying decision. Example, compare the MagLite ST2DD6 with the ST2D096 and the ST2D106.The same technical specs. are shown on Amazon.com for each unit, even the same customer comments so how are we to know which unit is worth the extra money? It's like buying a "pig in a poke"............

Great torch, as I'd expect from Maglite. We have a 2D and a 3D version, and there is no discernible difference in brightness, I assume the 3D will just last longer as it has the extra battery. (It's too early to rate battery life, hence I gave it 3* as there wasn't an option to say "Don't know".If it matters to you, the colour is more of a lilac-grey than a "true" grey, but that doesn't bother me in the slightest. (But perhaps a good thing this one is for me, rather than my teenage son, who might think differently!)

Love this flashlight. Got tired of the $2 ones breaking just when I need it. Walmart had several less than $5 then price jumped to over $20. Glad I waited to check Amazon reviews before buying.This thing is the best! Built solid and best of all, has a quality switch - the part that notoriously breaks in cheap flashlights.I expected it to be brighter than my old one, but holey moley, this think can just about blind a person - not really, but boy is is bright.

I have already purchased two of these flashlights and I bought two more for Christmas gifts! I would have to say that my 85 year old mother is the biggest endorser of this product as she says that she cannot live without it. It uses 2 economical-D cell batteries which last a very long time in this flashlight and the flashlight uses the LED technology that is so robust. This is a winner of a product and you won't be unhappy!

This is probably our 8th or 9th Maglite of various sizes, and you just can't go wrong with the quality. This is the perfect size for us to stash in a kitchen drawer, but it's still heavy duty enough and high powered light that we can take it into our pitch black garage or mud room and it lights up the whole area. We love it!

Having owned a large mag light for a number of years which I’ve found very robust and reliable, I purchased this smaller torch for the breakdown kit in our family car. It’s well made and just as solid as the older versions. I’d definitely recommend one of these for anyone looking for a quality torch which is built to last.

This flashlight is, like all maglites, built like a tank. It's got a nice heft to it and feels very solid. It is about 12 inches tall and 1 inch diameter at the base. It fits the hand well, and packs a very bright punch. The LED makes all the difference and it shines in bright white. Definitely would buy again.

I use this torch when walking our labradoodle in the park at night. The beam of light it gives off would put a POW camp search light to shame. The downside is it's weight (although It would double as a weapon of self defence) and it seems to run the battery down pretty quickly if used constantly

WOW! What a bright light and the length of the beam is amazing. It was not my first Maglite but it was my first LED Maglite. You get both value and performance! Unfortunately that a quality that is not common any more. Gets a 5 star vote from me.Shinin' Bright all the way from Texas

I got this for my son for power failures and other needs. Super bright light. LED definitely brighter than the bulbs type. We have 7 different size Maglites and have never had a problem other than changing bulbs or batteries. Best flashlight on the market.

Bought and returned a multi LED flashlight package from a membership club. Once you own a maglite nothing else measures up. The new LED lights require less power so batteries last much longer and together in a maglight is well worth the money.

There's just no comparison between this insanely bright, long lasting, American made, durable flashlight and an upgrade of one of their "standard" units with an LED bulb. It's brighter and feels as solid as these units ever have.

We've been a fan of Maglite flashlights for a long time now. Just as we would have thought, Maglite delivered yet another superb product. The LED bulbs are so much brighter than the standard bulbs. Worth the extra money.

Excellent product MAGLite.The flashlight offers a high brightness and low battery consumption, so far I have not changed the batteries. I recommend this type of flashlight for people who want quality and usefulness.

A little pricey compared to a lot of of other flashlights. But I guess what we pay is what we get. White light gives the illusion of powerful focus light. Sturdily built and overall happy with the purchase.
