Overall Impression:This was a great, cheap, non-technical starter shoe for me that was a step up from the standard 'gym' shoe. I always recommend it to anyone who wants to seriously try climbing as a beginner. I would never recommend it to anyone with serious climbing experience. This is the perfect shoe for people climbing V3 and under and not meant for people in the high single or double digit V grades (even though Mad Rock claims it's been used to climb up to a V15). It has a great price point, especially for someone who might not be confident that they'll still be climbing in a couple months. My use:I used them 3-4 times a week when I first started climbing for both in and outside climbing. As a novice climber, I never had a complaint about them. It is a very non-aggressive shoe and I could easily walk around in them, sometimes I even hiked in them when I was climbing outside. I never wore through any part of the shoe and I would assume that you'll probably move on to a more advanced shoe before that ever happens. The shoe I moved on to, I also highly recommend:

So I've been climbing on and off for about 8 years. I had run through the shoes I used as a kid and needed some of my own gear -- family and friends were getting a little perturbed at the borrowing regime I had started!I didn't want to spend an exorbitant amount of money, and I knew the Mad Rock brand (had always used La Sportiva growing up but... they're more expensive). I'm a US 9.5 in regular tennis shoes, and bought these a full size up based on what previous customers were saying. This was DEFINITELY the right call. They're very tight -- as climbing shoes should be -- and give full support for my entire foot. I have flat feet, and they're comfortable for hours at a time.I don't need to take them off when belaying and can walk around in them comfortably.Overall, I'd buy these again. Nothing too special about the form factor or fit but... for me, there doesn't need to be!

I just got into rock climbing and I think they will be a good starter shoe, but I don't really know what I'm talking about. I would like to note that I wear a 10.5 in most shoes, I returned a couple different sizes of climbing shoes before I got these which are 2 full sizes larger than my normal walking/exercise shoe. A 12.5 fits me really well. May be a little small, but my inexperience prevents me from making a better review of the size... Just know that if you should probably size up x2 if you decide to pull the trigger on these. Overall a good product.

I bought these for a friend who couldn't start climbing with friends since the rental shoes never come in his size. He's a street size 14 and the Drifter Climbing Shoe in size 15 fit with the correct amount of toe curl. He couldn't walk around in them for long, so they're about as tight as you want them.Long story short, they run smaller than most comparable brands so be prepared to need a full size large than your street shoe. They will stretch a little (perhaps half a size in width), but not enough to get your street-shoe number.

I wear a size 10.5 in adidas classic shell toes, ordered these in a 10 and they are PERFECT. Nice and tight, not too tight, and just the right amount of “uncomfortable” a climbing shoe should be. Awesome grip. I’m a new climber currently my best is a 5.10b working on some 5.10s and 5.11s in a gym, finding no issues with grip in these shoes, I am very very happy with them. Looking forward to taking them outside.

They work as expected. I bought a half size up from my normal shoe size and they fit correctly. If you have not worn rock climbing shoes before these will get uncomfortable after wearing for a while as they are designed to scrunch your toes into a point. I like the velcro better than laces as it makes it much easier to take on and off.

Listen to everyone else! go one size up!Unfortunately I'm a 12.5 (which no one makes half sizes after 12;( poor me right?) anyway so I decided to go with a 14 which would be 0.5 over my side and that's exactly how it fits 0.5 too big. But it was expected and is still a great improvement from rentals.Good shoe for a good price!

I use the shoe to boulder in a hall. At my feet he sits really well (does not hurt!) And the grip gives me a much better feeling than the shoe of another manufacturer, which I have tried. At twice bouldering a week, the last couple has held about a year. For me, the price for what I get for it is also true.

Bought these online without first trying on. I went a half size up as compared to street shoes. The snug fit hass become perfect for me after about 20 hors of wear. At first it was a bit of a challenge but they are breaking in well. I find these are adequate for my level of climbing and bouldering indoors.

These are so much better than the shoes I've been using (the ones provided by where I climb). They're very comfotable, even when they fit how they're supposed to. They look nice, and they grip VERY well. Just be sure to get a size up from your normal shoe size with these, for a proper fit.

These were my first climbing shoes and i think there great. The shape is not very aggressive so you can wear them for a long time without feeling uncomfortable.Sizing runs true to regular sizes. I recommend going a 1/2 size down for a better climb. Highly recommended.

A great climbing shoe, but the shoes are not normal, as stated. Even with 1 1/2 numbers bigger, I could barely walk. The well-being is certainly always different, but with his usual shoe size you will not be happy here in my eyes.

Order at least 1/2 a size larger! I'm between a 9 and 9.5 mens. Was worried ordering a 10 would be too large, but I listened to the reviews. At a 10 they fit snug, but are comfortable. Will climb in a few days and see how it goes

A half size above my street shoes are perfect, as others have said. I like the velcro a lot more than I think I would've liked ties. The shoes break in well about 3rd or 4th time climbing, and so far seem to only get better.

My husband was renting size 13's at his rock climbing place. I ordered 13's and he has to wear them without socks, but he's fine with that. He was wearing socks with the renters. He wanted to keep them though.
