It's been 10 years since I last used a Maclaren buggy and the design has changed so much I can't believe it. Having had 4 children over the last 17 years it has always been my favourite buggy and I've several over that time. I've got this new one for my 2 year old who is just on the cusp of walking everywhere but still needs the added security of a lightweight buggy. I've been pleasantly surprised by the multiple design updates. I'm going to go top to bottom.Traditional handles are height adjustable by about 2 inches with an easy click button on each handle. Could be quickly changed in seconds between 2 people pushing. My husband is 6'2" and has them on the highest height but even the lowest setting is great for taller people. There is a wrist strap on the handle if you have any concerns about the buggy 'getting away from you' and affixes to the handle with rope. Buggy comes with all accessories needed (no additional purchases necessary) and includes the canopy which is easy to attach with slide clips and some additional velcro straps and poppers. Unusually, the canopy is extendable to provide complete 180 degree cover over the buggy via a zip at the back. Fully showerproof with mesh sides. You can also extend the rear of the hood via zips if you need to use the layback feature. Hood has a small rear pocket with 2 sections (one mesh section) which is secured with velcro - would be suitable for a mobile phone, keys, pacifier etc. Top of the hood has a clear viewing panel and cover which is closed via clever magnets and stays open via the magnets too. Tick. The hood feels a little tight/flimsy as you open and close but I expect it will improve over time through use. My daughter likes to pull the hood down over herself I don't want her to break it! Also included in the box is the rain cover made from tough PVC. It has a slight frame built into it so I can't fold down small like previous models which is annoying but does provide for a good quality rain cover. It won't fit nicely in the basket which is annoying.Moving onto the seat. Maclaren have provided a buggy with an outstanding comfy and quality seat. It's fully padded and has a 5 point harness with the NEW Maclaren style fastening. If you haven't seen this yet and you are used to the old style buckle clip it does take some getting used to I'll be honest. With the new style harness the shoulder straps need to be slid into the waist straps BEFORE being clipped into the buckle BUT this does mean that you can use the waist straps without the shoulder straps if you so wish. My 2 year old often prefers to just use the waist buckle as the shoulder straps annoy her now. There are little pads on the straps for comfort but these can be removed for washing. The buckle has one button quick release. Please note that whilst the seat/cover can be removed for cleaning it's not that easy/quick to get it off. I would suggest purchasing a buggy liner which can be taken off for washing. (Maclaren do their own for £35) Otherwise you will have to sponge clean. One of the things I love about the Maclaren is the layback seat mechanism and this version does not disappoint. It's the best one I've ever used on buggies. There is a clip at the back behind the hood which makes lowering or raising the seat back a dream even one handed!. Much better than the buckle and toggle system seen on other makes. The raised seat is quite high and perfect for an older toddler too who wants to see everything! It does lie back completely so would be great for a sleeping baby. This model is suitable for a newborn when laid flat with the newborn cocoon built in (However you can purchase a separate carry cot). It does come with a headhugger for a young baby which can be removed and washed separately. A new feature on this model is the extendable seat rest. This is operated by 2 small switches on each side and allows an extension to the seat and can be locked in place raised and lowered. It also comes with it's own mesh pouch which is folded away into a pocket underneath. It's a very clever design although only useful for small babies. One thing I do find is that everytime I open the buggy the extension is raised and I have to close it again. Would have been good if it could be locked into the 'down' position.Moving on, the buggy comes with the basket already attached with velcro but this can be removed if you so wish. It's a good size, secure basket for shopping. Buggy features the traditional rubber foot rest (not adjustable). The wheels are a good size run flat tyres as is traditional for the Maclaren. The Techno features front swivel wheels. I had to attach these myself and I put them on the wrong way around. (They are marked L and R) but this hasn't seem to have affected use. They look identical. The mechanism to lock the wheels is really clever with the use of just a top bottom that you click on and off. Unfortunately it's a shame they are too 'easy' to use as my toddler can simply do it with her feet! I don't think the designers thought that through very well. And it's quite annoying when she does it! I much prefer swivel wheels. Rear wheels are double and fixed in place. As always, the breaks are brilliant on the Maclaren. Operated via the big red push button on the rear right wheel. Can be done quickly with the foot. The other major great feature of the Maclaren is the folding mechanism. They are famous for their quick, easy one handed fold and fortunately this feature is exactly the same. It's a bit stiff but this is to be expected on a new buggy and will get easier with use. Techno has a clip which automatically keeps the buggy closed when folded and is simple to flick out when unfolding the buggy.I do find that the new wheels cause one end of the buggy to 'stick' out a lot. Previous versions have always been quite neat and compact. When folded this version is definitely bigger! I assume this is because of the change of design of the front lockable swivel wheels. It shouldn't be too much of a problem but worth nothing if you have a small car. You can't seem to remove the wheels once you have locked them into place out of the box. When the buggy is folded there is a sturdy fabric strap on one side that you can carry it with. (Side note - I've seen pictures with a rear strap attached to the back of the buggy that you can use to carry it over your shoulder but mine did NOT come with this) The official contents are Buggy Tether Strap Head hugger & Shoulder Pads Premium Wind-Resistant Raincover - front wheels attach yourself) Overall, there are a few niggly things that are a bit annoying about this version but otherwise the quality and build is exceptional. Maclaren have given you everything you could want in the buggy with all the bells and whistles (and the price tag)

First of all, this stroller is bigger and heavier than I would expect from a convenient travel buggy. It's actually heavier than other Maclaren models (I also had Quest), with bigger wheels, so when it's folded, it doesn't feel as "compact" and "lightweight" as advertised. I was a bit sceptical about it from the beginning as from the first look, the metal "body" of the stroller seemed a bit flimsy to me (especially after our huge transformer Baby Jogger City Select), however, I was surprised how sturdy it actually is! The second thing that I loved is how easy it is on the go. I can move it with one hand and it goes smoothly. The seat is very comfortable for the little one,5 point harness is very secure and different reclining positions (reclines easily, with one hand) make naps on the go such a lovely experience. It reclines almost flat, so claimed to be suitable for a newborn. My personal preference for children less than a year is a proper pram with a carrycot and a child facing towards you (unfortunately, Maclaren doesn't have flexibility with seat position). I'd feel uncomfortable putting a newborn in a stroller, really. Even strapping a carrycot to the stroller (as far as I'm concerned, you can do this with Maclaren, buying carrycot separetely) seems a weird idea to me as there is no way you can strap it secure enough. All construction seems weird, imho. It's a personal choice, though. This model might be a good choice if you want to save some money and avoid buying a pram. Btw, special head hugger for smaller kids is included in a package. This stroller's canopy is large and extendable even more. Actually, the largest canopy I've ever seen in buggies. It protects well from sun and rain. Raincover is not really needed, but it's included as well). As cherry on top, the handles are extandable. Very convenient for my tall husband. Now let's talk about what I don't like in this stroller. Firstly, if talking about handles, I wouldn't mind some kind of a cover on it or other material. It seems a bit rough and I'm tempted to wear gloves. Secondly, again, my personal choice would be one handled buggy, however, taking into account how easy is this Maclaren model to manouvre, it's not much of a problem. The problem for me is its basket size! It's very very small. You can hardly fit a jacket in there (especially when reclined!). You can't put a baby bag in a basket, can't do much of a shopping... Any bag you should strap to handles and it is always on your way. I don't like it at all. For me, it is the biggest disadvantage.Overall, a very decent stroller, sturdy, easy to move and comfortable for a kid. But... Such a small basket!

This buggy/stroller is fantastic - it is suitable from newborn (genuinely - and there is a newborn head hugger included) and tested to 25kg which is roughly 4 stone (average weight of a 7-8 year old!).It has a hood with great coverage which can be extended to provide virtually complete shade; there is also a window in the hood (with a flap to close to stop the sun waking the child up) and it comes with a raincover which is semi structured (difficult to fold down to store away though, unfortunately). The handles are extendable by a small amount; the buggy is however not good for short people - I'm 5'6 and my husband 6' and we are fine with it, but much shorter than me and it would require a lot more effort. The seat is padded and comfortable, and the straps have a padding to cover them which you can easily remove for washing. It has a 5 piece harness, and you can also not use the should straps and just use a 3 piece harness if you wish. The seat extends in the sense that you can raise the end to provide leg support to a sleeping toddler or baby. There is a foot rest which you definitely need for older children otherwise they can end up dragging their feet along the floor (to be fair, I imagine keeping your legs raised off the floor is probably quite hard work!)The wheels are swivel but can be locked into position. The brake is pretty strong and easy to engage. The basket is of average size - I'd prefer it bigger though! When folded, the buggy doesn't go as tight as it potentially could, and the catch could be susceptible to being popped open when travelling, so I'd recommend either a strap to hold it snugly closed, or a buggy bag.Two things I would definitely recommend purchasing with this: a seat liner (for any "accidents" as well as to stop sun cream etc marking the seat) and handle covers - the handles are pretty hard rubber and if you're pushing a heavier child you can end up with sore hands.

I like Maclarens as they are top-of-the-range for 'umbrella' buggies, like this. They are light and easy to put up and down. I have always liked them as a useful second buggy - not my main but as an easy option for putting in the boot on a day out. However, overall, I prefer more solid buggies, such as the Mountain buggy. The Maclaren fades in comparison in terms of manoeuvrability. This model has all the trappings, which I suppose is why it's £280. It comes with a baby head support, rain cover and general hood cover. It is very easy to put together and has a very sturdy clipping mechanism so the child can't wriggle out. However, the Mountain buggy is now £350,which makes it only a little bit more expensive than the Maclaren Techno. The advantage of the Maclaren over a Buggaboo or Mountain Buggy for me, has always been price. This Techno is so expensive that I would be tempted to pay a little extra for the Mountain Buggy, which has been my favourite with three children. Always easy to manoeuvre up kerbs and single-handed. Even with heavier toddlers. If I were to buy a Maclaren as a second buggy, I would personally pay for a less expensive model.

The maclaren techno xt Stoller is a lovely little buggy. Very lightweight and easy to push and manouver about. It's easy to put up and fold down as well. It has a pretty good size and relatively sturdy under basket as well which is nice to see on this style of Stroller as you don't see it often. I do have a few critisizms however, the bucket to fasten the straps together is incredibly stiff and quite hard to buckle and unbuckle which is defintely not what you want when you're trying to get a screaming toddler in and out of the buggy. It may losen up over time possibly but brand new it is very difficult to use. The raincover it came with is also tiny and I can't quite work out how to use it for maximum coverage but it's so small that it will only over a small area.I may need to just buy an additional raincover as the one is comes with is terrible. For a buggy of this price, you don't expect to have to do that. However all in all, its a great little run around and very compact when folded.

As the title say. This pram is great, it has very clear and concise instructions to assemble it once assembled you have a great range of functions. The back rest lies 100% flat and has a leg support it also nearly sits up fully. The buckles can be a little bit of a faff to alter to get right so that is a slight negative. For myself aswell it's great that the handles have an extension setting, whilst not a lot it's enough for me.The hood extends practically fully down so when our little one is asleep it covers her enough to keep all light away from her eyes unlike some we've used. Now for the downside. Whilst it is a great pram I can't help but think most of the cost is paying for the name. We've seen prams of equal quality and features for atleast half in other shops. So for me cost is a little bit of a sticking point. Especially given how much you'll have spent on car seats and other bits and pieces by this point.

A good travel worthy pushchair was a bone of contention in our household. We couldn't take our massive but fantastic Bugaboo Chameleon due to it's size and, well, weight! We needed a second stroller, one worthy of effortless travel, one that we can keep on our person and NOT have to check-in, one that could be pushed down the airplane aisle all the way to our designated seats. Yup that's how we roll (excuse the pun).We love new innovative technology

What more do you want from a buggy than what maclaren offer, great build quality, robust frame, good brakes, comfortable child seat and it folds down nice and small to a very light package. The rain cover is good which comes in the pack and the handy storage area underneath is perfect for those quick trips to the shops. I love this maclaren, it’s one of the best buggies we’ve ever used and perfect for beyond the toddler years or travel time

Stunning pushchair. Light to wheel but extremely sturdy. Hood pulls down more than a normal pushchair to protect your child from the elements. Very easy to clean. Half the price it was in argos and it arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Would highly recommend as this brands products will last you a lifetime.

Ok, this is a nice pushchair. My main problem though, is it for a very young baby. Our two year old is too big for this pushchair, which is a shame. My advice to anyone thinking of buying this item, is to get it when your child is young, say 9 months. It looks nice though.

This pram is fab for a little run around. We bought it to take on holiday. It lies flat, good for our 3 month old. It’s light to carry and easy to unfold/ put down. It gives good coverage from the sun. It’s not very good for off road terrain.

20.11.2019

Great stroller for our 7 month old. It’s lightweight which is good for us as I have mobility issues and is compact when closed - ideal for nursery when she goes.
